The ap mine problem and the solutin to fix it

Ap mines are a problem when they get spamed a lot. Asolution is to give them an animation that takes 2-3 seconds and a deployment previev like the engeneers have on their constructions like in rising storm2
that would stop the spam with out nerfing their rainge or damage.

slow the game down in other ways would be what I’d ask in compensation.

I spam mines because my team is being incompetent and there’s “very sweaty” players on the enemy team.

at most german mines need to be a bit more obvious, (as obvious/sticking out as much as Soviet, Japanese, and Wallied mines).

im fine with them being in the game. it is just too easy to use them and not a lot of counter play.

yes, i have also said that this would be a solution

9 man squad can lay a mine field in seconds, at least with a delay you’d struggle to get all 9 down. then in the heat of battle you cant just drop them as you run past things, you’d actually have to stop to deploy

I think the animation is fine and the 2 - 3 seconds to register on field that already exist ingame, is perfect.

However, I wouldn’t mind engineers having the ablitiy to see mines when you’re at a close radius.

Also, a perk added into the game, that you spend points to see mines would suffice rather then nerfing the mines to make players that are not as good ingame happy. Punishing good players is not the solution.

True and somewhat heavily linked to stacking problem.
Sure theres also plenty of inviduals that cheese the AP mines constantly but pretty much everytime you see one of those stacks you kind of know what to expect.

Theres just so much irony in this, that I could probably with correct equipment start to can it and sell for retailers.

I don’t know what this video is supposed to prove in favor for AP mines since most of the kills seem to be bots. Very impressive, mate.
And that the German with the Sniper G41 has a bad aim.
Video also proves the issue with mines that they sometimes simply sink into the ground.

Animation is just one second drop and I don’t see how the activation time is important.

Would definitely help bots.

Based on that clip, I don’t know if you can judge people’s skills when they are complaining about mines.
And mines don’t require skill, so I don’t know how it would punish good players.

Been asking this particularly, for months.

Would prevent ppl running around while dropping. Simple, neat, efficient.

So ofc I want this, but make it 3-5 seconds, to prevent those charging caps to mine when there’s enemies 10 paces away.

from someone who blows up from mine constantly, ( because who needs to look where you go. )

i don’t personally mind mines.
and i don’t believe nerfing them would be good.

with that being said, both a metal detector ( crazy idea, i know. perhaps unpopular too ) to equip to engineers in the equipment slot like toolboxes and medkits, and perhaps an animation of arming the mine of 3 to 5 seconds like op asks, would be more than great and still realistic.

but maybe it’s just me.

That’s been my view on AP mines for a really long time.

Until I ran into a match against McDonald spamming consistently at least five AP mines per squad randomly on objectives during assault mode.

I literally died like 25 times just because of mines in that game. And after that horrifying experience, I think some kind of nerf to AP mines is very needed.

Exactly this.

As for the detector, that, or some handy perk

I don’t know how a metal detector could work in this fast paced game…

I used replay feature from ingame, then record, some animations or objects don’t render well using replay.

As for the punishing good players comment.

I was talking to the creator of the post; creating an account on the forum and making a post about mines and having a solution to fix problem without context. Like having clips or pics from your experience would help. Otherwise…

It just appears to be another rant.

Why do we need clips? Everyone here knows how mines work and how much of a plague they are.

it could.
perhaps it would work like crsed player detector / sonar.

so, there’s… this thing:

image

which, emitts noises when there’s a player nearby ( 50 meters if not mistaken ).

we could use the same system, but for mines.
and perhaps, you actually need it to be equipped.
( ovviously, it needs an actual metal detector model. and not this… strange looking ufo thing )

idk, perhaps it can detect things if you are on foot, or only if you have it in your hand, and the mine must be perhaps 20 meters away from the player.

might as well reveal the position to other players too.
and you can defuse it by just hitting it with the metal detector and it wont go off.

prolly going off the rails here. not gonna lie. but again, just some ideas.

it would have been some sort of half realistic and half arcade type of things instead of being fully arcade by using telekinesis to know where a mine is.

thinking of it, could work better if you could assign the mine and clearing job to ai through a command so that players can do something else instead. like, cover them, or… do anything else really.

but it’s probably too much to ask given how things goes.

If I recall in rtcw ET the recon could spot mines with binoculars and mark them for teammates.
Could be one solution and perhaps the snipers would for once actually be somewhat useful.

Not exactly fan of idea running around with that electric pizza shovel.
Its not exactly in line with how setting AP mines takes 0 effort while running around with the pizza shovel you arguably cant do shit while doing so.

Perk, maybe. Depends how much it would costs and what you have to sacrifice for it ?

A solution indeed, well said…

Honestly it would be as useful as the “put out fire fast” perk, which costs 1 green pt.

Since both are highly situational, I also would make it cost 1 pt. Maybe a yellow point?

As for binoculars… it wouldn’t make sense “woops I enter a building, time to look around with binocs!” It would look too silly.

The perk is the optimal way to go, along a 3-5 arming & planting animation, imo.

I’d even start using them for fun.

Agree there

I honestly dont even care if they could be spotted even thru walls as they really take 0 effort to plant, spotting them shouldnt take anymore than that.

As long as the perk really is just 1 point, I agree there.

Unless landmines are thrown at the enemy’s rebirth point, they cannot cause significant casualties to the enemy. Every player has more than one soldier, after being blown up once, no fool would not pay attention to the ground.Scattered landmines only need to be blasted with guns, and large areas of landmines can also be detonated with explosive packs or hand grenades. Setting up a minefield takes at least 20 seconds, and the problem of landmines being detonated by bombs or shelling also needs to be considered. If 9 landmines can kill 4 people, that would be great. Landmines will not disrupt balance, but they will definitely disrupt a person’s mood.
