Tanks need a massive improvement

im not talking about stupid HP bars or things like that(since most tanks are made of paper), im talking about the tank pyshics, a tank can get stuck in a trence, short answer: yes, but only ww1 ones, WW2 tanks have better transmission and tracks consider on fix that, not only making visual improvements, i know the sigths looks great, realistic tracks simulation too, but everything goes to trash if the physics makes your tank stuck with a single pile of dust

any other improvements could be posted on this thread for future suggestions : )

Absolute rubbish… every tank has a trench width limit that it can cross - a Panther had 2.8 meters for example, a Sherman 7 feet (about 2.2 meters). Even an Abrams is limited to 2.74m

A smidgen of research would solve your lack of understanding of this topic.

well he is somewhat correct. while crossing trench is debatable depending on tank and width of trench, other movement definitely needs big improvement. you can get stuck in various ways that are simply not a problem for a tank.

Well consider the fact that the average trence width in this Game is no more than 2 meters
( sometimes Even less) so this don’t apply to the Game : )

you mentioned a health bar but Enlisted doesn’t utilize health bars on tanks so I’m confused as to what your even referring too

I was joking on that, since I Saw many users asking for HP bars on tanks as “improvement” to the gameplay

it actually does. all tank modules have HP and crew also has HP. you destroy tank by killing crew and then damaging tank or by bringing down one of the ammo rack HP to 0 thus detonating and destroying tank.

Yeah, tanks only have traction in only a few spots along the bottom of the track, so any curb is an impassable obstacle unless you can brute force over it, and you can beach the whole tank because a rock wedged itself between the traction points.

Also not true - there’s plenty of wide trenches in Enlisted!!

eg see this picture from another thread - the M2 is 14 feet long, and that one is stuck with maybe 1ft at the front, and 2 ft at the rear overhanging, which makes the trench 11 ft or about 3.5 meters wide:

Well i mentioned the average not all of them but i get your point

Look at the normandy and moskow ones some of them are very thin as far i remember
And considering the size of tanks like the tiger or IS-2 getting stuck in little trences is not supposed to happen

Little holes sure :slight_smile: But AFAIK there really aren’t many such in Enlisted … most trenches are well built timber revetted types.

IS-2 and Tiger 2 both had 2.5m trench crossing ability - less than a Panther.

Even a M1 Abrams can only cross 2.74m.

The reason the TOG’s were so long was to be able to cross wider trenches - the specification was for 16 foot - 4.8 meter - although such trenches would have been specific anti-tank ones, not infantry ones.

Another thing that would be great for the balance of tanks would be the addition of APHE for the American 75mm guns. I know that historically the explosive was usually not installed in the M61 stalls even thought it was capable of having one, but if Japan can get entire tanks that were never even completed like the Ho-Ri for the sake of balance, then surely they can give the American guns an APHE shell. It would be such an improvement for balance, getting destroyed by single hits from German guns while sometimes needing 5 shots to completely destroy them is so annoying.

even so, there are definitely some issues with the mobility of tanks and other vehicles in game. The IS-2, for example, should realistically eb able to drive over obstacles up to a meter in height, but in game this is basically impossible, as the tracks will simply clip through the object. Because of the way that these collision physics work, even if it should be possible to cross a trench or other obstacle, the tank will still get stuck.

That’s partially true but there is not an actual bar that has hit points to show the health of the tank. The tanks modules/components condition is represented by a color which shows the state in which that particular module is in, Green being working condition, Yellow being slightly damaged and finally Red being unfunctional. That being said whoever asked for HP bars needs to go play World of Tanks.

All true - although I note that tanks can also relatively easily “bottom out” on quite small obstacles like rocks or tree stumps too - but the physics certainly isn’t great in many cases.

I agree they most definitely could improve the physics in the game and needles to say a stump would be light work for a tank to move across…

Reasonably thick tree stumps are a recognised improvised AT obstacle - a tank might move up onto them then fall off leaving the tank “bottomed out” on the stump, or possibly losing a track.
