AT gun improvements should hopefully give some defense against this.
Though it’s still too hard to place them effectively in Normandy, and they need more ammo.

if your gun can shoot through armored glass be my guest
we need to be able to resupply them.
Motorcycle ammo delivery?
or engineer could get a Vehicle supply depot structure that they can build as well as a Artillery supply depot both have limited resupplies like the normal supply boxes to balance them.
another balancing feature could be you need a lot of space to build them and they take lot of time and materials too.
Would be far too impractical for an emplacement that barely gets built to begin with.
I mean they could give the field gun more ammo too that’s another good Idea
Rifle rounds and even SMG rounds will absolutely get through WWII era “armoured glass”.
In one shot? Of course not. A full mag, a squads worth of magazines? At point blank range? Absolutely.
Tankers that push without infantry or camp from afar or otherwise go rogue should he punished.
Even modern tanks need infantry support. It’s literally what their for, infantry support.
I doubt a pistol caliber rounds from and M3 or an MP-40 can pen the armored glass on a tanks viewing ports most you could hope to do is damage the glass enough that you can’t see through it. You’d need a .50 cal or larger to pen most view ports on tanks.
I think you have an unrealistic expectation of how well armoured glass and similar things hold up over continuous stress.
Yes it would likely block rounds from range or even some up close. But a whole squad sticking rifles/MGs/SMGs into viewing ports and mag dumping? It’ll fail eventually.
Well how about this then… since stationary MGs can be damaged and taken out, why not make the same thing for the tank turret MGs. One perfect sniper shot in the barrel and it’s out. Granted, you still have the main gun to worry about, but at least the MG is gone.
If you mean the mg on top of some turrets…
Why shoot the mg… When you can shoot the commander!
I meant the coaxial on the turret or the one on the base on some tanks. The one on top is easy, just take out the gunner.
Oh. You already can I believe. With AT rifles I think it works.
From a mere small caliber sniper rifle it would be pushing it a bit, though
Well for stationary MGs it works to use a sniper rifle, and i’m not saying it has to break through armor, just to mess up the barrel so it can’t shoot.
Yeah, its a big problem
I would consider that for SMGs, but a rifle round could deform the barrel enough to stop it from firing
Perhaps it would reduce accuracy… but some tanks like the t34 in Berlin have their turrets lmgs entirely protected being inside the turret.
Although why waste time shooting a lmg when it’s better to choose a faust guy…
But meh, I wouldn’t mind turrets lmgs being easier to damage 🤷
Cause you might be that sneaky sob sniper hidden somewhere keeping an eye out for your troops on the ground, and seeing the tank before the friendlies do and helping them not get killed, and by the time you switch to an AT squad they might get wiped out. Also, we we’re talking about tanks in greyzones. It might be out of range for an AT
