Not so much on Moscow or Berlin but on Normandy and Tunisia (especially Al har)
Here they can farm kills/protect/cover the point whitot the fear of getting killed.
They see the whole map from a perfect vantagepoint/cover outside of the map
And you cant do sh*t against them other then maybe suicide bombing IF you have it unlocked AND in your lineup and even then 20 sec later theres an another one already there.
Neither the armored car or the tank or the TD can pen them from here.
And AT guns are useless and u cant Det pack them cuz they are far behind the map boundries.
Silver lining: tankers beings cowardly lazy scum like this grow complacent: they feel absolutely safe. It’s so, so much easier bombing them! They don’t expect it so remain perfectly still as you dive on them. I exploded 7 Italian broken model AB cars with a single plane before getting shot (by infantry!) Last evening.
There’s few things as satisfying in game as giving payback to those who spawn camp while behind safety.
Actually…
Maybe tanks that are in the grey zone will have a marker on them with no time limit when they get spotted? And when they leave grey zone, marker will work just like now.
Some games have those markers appearing over players camping a spot in the map, those who like sniping. I dislike this practice as it’s catering cod like players just brainlessly running around gun blazing, and you can be certain if I were in one of those conflicts, I’d rather find a good hidey hole from where to snipe safely than to go die from mg fire like canon fodder. Well. Like many, many sharpshooters did (still do) irl.
Tanks being protected by a magical out of bound frontier acting like some cloud of chemical nerve gas, are abusing a game mechanic however. As such your permanent marker idea (for as long as they remain in grey zone) would be a wonderful idea!
Edit: you should even go ahead and make a suggestion thread about it.
At the end markers for example in Tunsia wouldnt help with this at all, OP said already that issue is not that he cannot be seen, but that he cannot be killed in any way from that range and planes can see tanks in tunisa with no isuee, the flaw is map design that allows for things like this to happend, for example should you remove that hill or make its more steep so tanks cant go there, that would solve this issue, similary thing is normandy, some map in tunisa do good job, like the map where you have this huge open on top building, with two floors, tanks there if they want to contribute either need to go there be at very close range, or they need to go main street and try cuting of reinforcements.
Further more giving them marker whiled they are in grey zone, says already to attacker or defender that tank is coming and says already from which way, unless every tank would have its own timing for leaving grey zone, since there are fast tanks - puma/stuart and slow like jumbo/grant
Another thing is that some times tankers can leave that zone in realative safety for example as attacker how many times it happend that your team was actully one defending and defenders keep coming at you.
Grey zones should work like this - Tank in grey zone should be able to punish defenders that overstretch at are more attacking then defending but not help with pushing/defending objective, and in your non grey zone, tank should be able to support team in either defesnse if you are on team that defends or in attack if your team is attacking.
Some changes in maps, especiely in Normandy and it should fix alot of issues
This kind of exploit is bound to happen especially in Tunisia where there is a lot of open terrain …
If the devs are going to treat the grey zone as some kind of illegal or out of bounds area then it should be that way for both sides …
I don’t think changing maps is the right approach because as soon as they fix one place some cock roach will find another place to exploit.
They need to change the way the grey zone works so that both sides are allowed or denied. If one side can go there then the other side should be able to go there as well.
I’m against this… because I’ve seen the results in other games like in H&G. There’s a tree blocking EVERY vantage point, to make sniping impossible, and tgey also put rocks… rocks everywhere so that tanks couldn’t move freely. So much it became absurd.
Ah there’s no problem here, as like @VoyoMayPL suggested the tank should be spotted FIRST, but the marker would remain until the tank leave grey zone. If the tank is stealthy and doesn’t shoot while in grey zone, infantry may not mark it and as such the tank won’t have a marker even while in grey.
Well thats a bit absured i didnt played H&G but making it more steep would be in my idea still good, that would make slower, much heavier tanks, like grant, jumbo etc no being able to get in places where for example lighter vehcials/tanks can be that stuart, puma, dailmer (that would have finally some use) or AB41.
All those could be killed quiet easy from most distances, gave them opportunity also to flank and attack where more thicker boys need to be more straight foward
Well if you put it that way, yeah it would be fine
This is a problem on quarry too I think, I don’t really play other campaigns besides Moscow so I wouldn’t know. I think they should rethink the grey zone, it is way too restrictive lots of times.
As far as Tunisia, tanks are super easy to spot and kill from the air, even without the team marking it’s location. And you don’t need to suicide, especially if, as you claim, another tanks will be in the same spot in 20 seconds. There are these magical spots in the sky, where planes can re-arm and actually return to the action to kill tanks, over and over.
It seems to me that not allowing tanks to fire from inside the grey zone would be a pretty simple fix.
Sorry, but tanks aren’t artillery. You should have to be down in the action to get your kills. The only ones defending this are the same kind of players who were defending bomber planes pre nerf, the kind who don’t care at all about ruining the fun for others, and just want to farm easy kills for XP.
Wouldn’t work… because I’d abuse it. Enemy tanks SPAWN in grey zone. “They can’t shoot me while in here… But I can? Muahahah free tank kills!”
It would be much worse, the camping side would merely switch, with one side completely defenseless…
That happens sometimes but in Tunisia it is not rare to be able to destroy 8-12 enemy vehicles in one spawn. And I’ve shot down plenty of enemy fighters in the SBD. It also depends which campaign. Only in Tunisia are fighter planes not equipped with bombs. Even the German Bi-plane can destroy any tank in Moscow as well as out turn any Soviet fighter. In Normandy, the Bf 109 can easily fill both roles
I’m not sure what you mean. If you’re in the grey zone with the tank, the game is going to auto kill you.
If you’re outside the zone shooting in, or camping on the edge with a det pack, then that would be easily solved by simply granting tanks immunity inside the zone. Can’t shoot, can’t be shot. Can’t interact with the match whatsoever until they enter the playable area like they’re supposed to.
Worst case, they could enable the coax MG inside the zone to kill any infantry camping near the edge w/ detpack, just not the cannon, since that’s the thing causing issue.
Still wouldn’t work… I’d abuse that as well: “you’re in your spawn grey zone, you can’t shoot, neither can I you… but I can wait for the second you come in, knowing I’m proper cover and firing angle while you MUST move and get vulnerable as soon as out of the grey. Hey, warrior! Come out and plaaaay!”
It would also break immersion a lot. At this rate I’d prefer the flawed system we have now
Trust me it’s not just the main canon… take a t28 for example…
