Talk with Community about Monetization

My maxed out Mp28 is better than my MP40s right now. Guess what, I got them without paying anything. I could put together a squad that I ground out that is 100% comparable to a premium squad if not better because of the variety of roles I can assign to a regular squad.

  • fully upgraded, powerful weapons without bothering with horrible upgrading system (last level requiring 96 parts with 50% of failure) - MP41 is better than any other german MP because of its very low recoil
When it comes to MGs it is even powerful.

  • 4 fully upgraded V lvl soldiers at the start (I personally managed to aqire first one months after CBT start, only one of those is fully trained now and its only a standard trooper)

  • possibility to take into battle 7 SMGs or MGs. 7 MGs means an absurd ammount of firepower with them dealing almost the same damage as bolt actions. It is important to say that for some reason bots equiped with MGs are the most dangerous and able to mow enemy squads on their own (my standard MG bots do that very often and there are only 3 of them). Lack of engineer makes premium squads less flexible, but in current meta and small maps automatic weapons are definetly most powerful

  • those 4 veteran soldiers come with preset most powerful perks in the game and possibility to change them if you for some reason want something else

  • premium soldiers have higher perk capacity than any free soldier, which means that are actualy able to equip all the best perk (my V lvl MG trooper isn’t even able to equip that famous +35% vitality perk)

Those all are clear examples of P2W, when player who pays gets something more powerful than its free counterpart. And again, nobody here is saying that premiums are unkillable with the free squads. Their potential is just much, much higher.

And it already has been shown to be this problem, so idk how you can go like “this is fine”. Oh wait…

It is fine

one thing to be careful of is don’t split up a community, paying for campaigns while a good idea may lead to community becoming splintered but nickle and dimming on everything is also bad. i too am very concerned about p2w after buying premium squads. all of this is wip and fixable as long as we communicate and work together on a final product.

Paying for campaigns could work flawlessly if they’re priced fairly.

I think all these new guys who popped out of no where are devs thenselves.

Yeah lol, I never saw them before

Probably devs being like: “we are keeping this system because some players, who are 100% not us, agree with it.”

The comment about an extreme amount of time needed to grind to get the same thing as a purchaser is correct and I should have included it in my critique. In War Thunder, one can grind to the top tiers without paying. According the players that I know that have accomplished it said it took them about 7 years to do so. (Assuming average playtime).

For those who don’t know what the Gaijin War Thunder Monitization Model is, the following is an example:

In War Thunder, let us supposed you are interested in Korean War Jets, let us say the F86 Sabre. To grind to get it, you must start with pre ww2 (1930s) aircraft, grind out research points and silver lions to pay for additional new aircraft. In many cases, you must purchase a prior aircraft before being able to
buy the next aircraft. Said aircraft are “stock” and need research points and silver lions to be upgraded and competitive. At any point, you can spend “golden lions” or real money to speed up the process.

To be effective to be able to advance to higher levels in War Thunder Air combat, you need 5 planes in the hanger, When planes are damaged in combat, you can pay real money to repair then or have them repaired for free. A damaged plane cannot be used in combat and in higher teirs, it can take about a week of real time for a plane to be repaired for free and available for combat. You may grind for a year or more to get into position to purchase the Sabre, playing with vehicles you are just not interested in.

To avoid the grind, one can purchase a single F86 sabre for $49.99US. You will need 5 planes to be effective so you would have to pay about $250US to be effective. The purchase will allow you to gain more then average experience points and more then average silver lions, the latter being the in game currency. However, if the planes are damaged in combat, you will have to wait days to get them repaired for free or pay real money to get them repaired and available. It is quite possible to spend several hundred dollars a year to keep these planes flying just so you can play.

The question here is, what is your time worth? You can grind and acquire these planes. The ones you grind for will not give you extra experience points or extra silver lions when you get them.

The above is a typical War Thunder Monitization Model and it works. Every step to advance can cost you real money if you want to advance. This includes not only the aircraft, but also the pilot, and the ground crew. (You can reduce the repair time by investing experience points or real money) You can make the pilot better (percs) by increasing his stamina, vision, and more. A bomber and crew will cost you more because not only do you have a pilot, you have gunners that need percs.

The above description is not perfect, but you should get the idea.
You can pay to avoid the grind and advance, or just grind away…perhaps for years. Your choice. No one forces you to pay. It was announced previously that Enlisted would follow the War Thunder Monitization Model. Here it comes.

Thanks.

This is an issue due to no-lifers playing WT

I stopped playing warthunder shortly after sweden was added

I remember players having Strv-122 two days after the official update

It took me 2 years of playing to unlock the whole Soviet side (only tanks)

Also to add I calculated and found out it took them something like 1000+ dollars to unlock the whole sweden

I don’t know where these people live, I spend 1000 $ every 3 months not including taxes

Are WT players millionaires

they suffer from not able to kill any tank in one shot

Are you talking about the Swedish Techtree in Warthunder now?

Because the intent isn’t for someone to buy the entire tree outright.

If anything that’s a point against people trying to say “with this system you can just buy everything” because it’s too expensive to reasonably pull off.

Lol
sorry,
but it is not off-topic, just shows an example of what Enlisted is turning into

Not because of that, just asked because I was just confused😂

oh okay :joy:

The following is a video about the Enlisted monitization. It mentions some of the same issues that I discovered plus more.

I wish the devs had an official thread about monetization open to feedback to the community… most devs gaijin included usually are never good at this, besides CBTs I have never gave money to gaijin but I wouldnt mind if I could play for example the warthunder I want.

In warthunder gaijin destroyed most of the gameplay I enjoyed, so it scares me to invest in something that does not maintain a coherent game.

For enlisted I would pay to have control of the maps I enjoy, having dedicated servers options and the ability to change many of the rules of the game, uniforms as in cosmetics would be particularly good for a WW2 FPS game like this.
I also think devs should look at equipment presets implemented while monetizing custom equipment sets, weapon degradation in a small way and a market to sell and buy weapons would be interesting thing to look at.

No. Just no. Don’t add a player market around a lootbox progression. Might as well just unbox CS:GO boxes then because there you actually have a decent chance of earning your money back.
