Tactics and Strategies

Hello,

I love the game and have spent many hours enjoying the pace, atmosphere and overall gameplay, well done to all on this great achievement. I dont usually like to get involved but I really hope that this game succeeds and grows so just wanted to write down a few thoughts on its mechanics.

I like to play this game using a more tactical mindset rather than just KILL! KILL! KILL! To achieve this further, I think there should also be some emphasis and reward for those who aren’t just gunning people down in a Call Of Duty fashion, but take time to spot enemy positions and deploy tactics for the team to win.

The last game I played was a capture the zone map where my team, the British, were were attacking consecutive points. To ensure our victory I used a Radio team to spot enemy positions from afar and deploy smoke screens to cover defended positions and bombardment to allow fire and suppress groups to move up and take the buildings. I believe this was paramount to the success of the game but there was no recognition for it.

When playing as my sniper unit, I tend to spot first, marking enemy placements and tanks, then snipe to kill second, but the game does not see this.

Enlisted is an Excellent game but it does little to encourage team behaviour and its quickly turning into another mindless COD where players are just running and jumping about to kill as many opponents rather than fire and suppress, or pin down and advance etc which are key components in these slower paced WW2 games.

Just a few suggestions, I hope you can make them work.

the users they aim to suck, money this likes, if you go to see the description of the game and the game, they are two completely different things, if you want to have a tactical approach in enlisted it is not the game you are looking for

Tunis for british not need tactic.
Just turbo win and it is all.

Players should gain experience for tagging a tank.
And twice as much experience for the building rally and ammo box.

Yesh, I started in the closed beta, and the game has gotten so much faster, used to be you couldn’t Sprint and do anything else, couldn’t reload, couldn’t get a grenade out, had malfunctions. I hated when they took out the slowness cause people were crying that the movement was 'clunky '. I miss CBT enlisted.

At least we have MP41 and PPK as “living” memories.

The only reason the allies don’t need tactics is because the axis has yet to figure out “be in the general vicinity of the objective and shoot back”

It is just about flanking and making spawn points close to the objective. It is clear win if it is done by only one side as the bots simply overrun the objective once the spawn point is close.

It’s also about efficient use of vehicles and mortars so you aren’t dead weight, using smoke in the right place like the OP said, and knowing when to harass and when to push.

You know… what you say isn’t wrong.
Those enjoying the game the most lately are often kill collectors (like you appropriately said, CoD like players) rocking automatics only and just rushing points while shooting in all directions.
Why is that? Because sadly it’s the most successful way, the one that reaps the most benefits in term of xp, and as such, valuable bronze orders.

What would I propose to restore a semblance of tactical play is either
nerf assaulters squads xp gains a bit, like they did for tanks and their xp multiplier a way back. But that’s not ideal, since starting to welcome nerfs is like opening pandora’s box, bringing more nerfs.

Or!

Boost xp gains of less “effective” or less “meta” squads, such as engineer (especially, they are the real heroes) snipers, flamers… all those less used squads not allowing brain dead full automatics lineup.

Hopefully we’d see different things than “this side has more smg grunts, so it will stomp the other side to oblivion”.

Just a thought.

Snipers could definitely get exp bonuses for killing priority targets like machine gunners to get them to do their job.

Not sure about flamers.

Just anything other than assaulters and gunners squads, really. Even mortars now deserve some love. I wouldn’t mind them having a bit more xp for the support they provide with their shells, now that it’s much more limited and inaccurate.

I’m starting to notice that even in Moscow BA rifles are less numerous than before, being replaced by grunts (both sides)… it shouldn’t be. I MIGHT tolerate many semi autos if I have to, but automatics only makes the game no different than cod (not the first 2 classic good ones, but the crap kids play these days)

Nooooooooo!!!

To automatics users:
DON’T play Moscow™

That’s not that way anymore, I just got two easy wins for Axis in Tunisia (invasion - defense). I was 1st and 2nd in score but did not carry the team by any means.
Maybe it also depends on the time of day.

Axis winrate in Tunisia is exaggerated.

I’ve played them since the CBT and at no point was the axis losing as frequently as Russian teams were in the Moscow CBT

I agree, that during some games strategies and tactics go out the window and players are just grinding their squads down for kills.

There would be times that I would be in a tank clearing one side of the objective, and our team just leroy jenkins in it, hunting for the kill, instead of just sitting and capturing, and or playing off the flanking support I am giving.

Also, when we have two out of the three objectives captured, it is best to just sit in place and engineer the crap out of the points, instead of trying to take the third and then it devolves into musical chairs of capture points…

Some solutions might include

  • having more spotting rewards and ability
  • more rewards for length of time spent on objectives
  • cutting xp rewards for vehicles and soldiers that are parked in the grey zones
  • making the death penalty harsher, such as increasing the xp penalty for deaths, and or increasing spawn times

Having another game mode as well might be a better option, since if a player likes the twitchy game play, the devs shouldn’t make the game ‘worse’ for them.

So have a more strategic slower paced campaign style game, where it is a living and evolving front which plays out over the course of a season, kind of like what the WW2 online mmo tried to accomplish back in the day.

Finding a good mix, between a twitchy shooter, and a foot soldier simulation has to be a challenge for the developers, and they will never make everyone happy.

This game does offer incredible micromanage and custom loadouts for squads, where some players like myself love that, others such as one of my gaming buddies, could care less, and just wants the insta-action…

well… my post devolved into a caffeine rant, so to sum it up, yeah, encouraging and rewarding a more strategic style of gameplay would be awesome!! :sunglasses:

Full agree 10/10.
Imo they should split the game into 2 gamemodes: arcade and realistic. CoD-like players will be happy and players that want more realistic gameplay will be happy.

if by realistics mode you mean squad without hud and with friendly fire, with hundreds of bots running around you and you receive malus if you kill one by mistake

That’s hardcore mode you think about.
