Suggestion to rework Normandy Campaign Vehicles

Having the Jumbo and running through the upgrade process… I have no idea why they put this in Normandy now. Sure, if this campaign is going to go further inland and we’re looking at Panthers and a much longer campaign; but, now?

I don’t understand why… Same with the Chaffee.

you seems not getting the main issue.

according to the logic of using equipment of the year ( “announced” said by keofox ).

we end up watching things that shouldn’t be there. ( which breaks the already thin balance of tanks to tanks engagement )

happens to the jumbo in this case to be powerfull than all the german tanks.
and by the way,
just because it has weak side armor, it doesn’t make it any less stronger.

there are many issues coming with it, and it’s presence it’s unfortunately unjustfied.

but looks like the devs are willing to add non-sense content that wasn’t even supposed to be used during those campaings. example are the M24, Jumbo, T50, BA-11 and the PZ III B. none of those should be present where they currently are.

i can’t do nothing but express my disappointment.

oh yeah i know, but i’m just saying that comparing an assault tank to a heavy tank might not be fair. i would rather have 105 sherman be at level 20 than jumbo at level 20

i know this might not be related, but the things that worries me the most are,

let’s say at one point, the whole campaign progression gets rewamped ( because at some point this will happens ). what will happens to those british weapons? from what i readed, the majority of ally players do not like them considering that they are playing as americans, not british forces.

and just like you said, the 105sherms might arrive for level 20 and the jumbo will arrive arrive at ( example ) level 25/30.

what will happens? it will be removed from players?

because one thing that i’ll never forget, is that pilots and tankers that were older could not obtain the newer perks that were introduced.

so apparentlly, they don’t have a system that can replace, remove or change things that players currently already have/owns.

which it’s more problematic that it might sounds like.

because than i suspect that it’s just going to be a messy grindy line up that doesn’t make sense.

at some point, armored vehicles will be introduced. but for someone to use them, will be forced to grind all their way up just to get those simple vehicles that should be availabe in the first 10 levels?

i don’t know, but for one i would rather the squads you get from the british weapons to be british squads so that way it doesn’t remove it, though one thing they could do is make the people who got the jumbo at level 20 to be made into a premium squad with a new squad to replace. but this is all just speculation of what they could do

they will probs just switch the sten with some other version of the thompson, so i dont think stuff will be difficult to change, right?

er… wrong.

again, over the course of the years, the only way they could change things that people owned, was through wipes.

somethings that are not going to occour based on what keofox and others said.

but still, they never managed to change what people already have.

i really hope things are going to change but…

how is that wrong? they just take all the stens, and copy paste them into thompsons. why would that be difficult to do?

:woman_shrugging:

( looks like )

Another option would be to allow people to keep the stens that they already have, but replace it in the campaign tree with the M1 Thompson with a 20 round magazine.

Similarly, it might be possible to do with the Jumbo to replace it with a 76mm Sherman, possibly?

It’s how I’d go about it.

that would sound great.

exept, they don’t give you anything for free unless you grinded for it.

and the jumbo looks like it ain’t going away. not now, not even at the death of this game…

but i’m sure those shermans 75 and 20 mag thomps at level 30/35  will be there waiting for you desptie having unlocked something better previously.

I’ve been in games before that would do such to replace overpowered assets post-release. I would hope the devs here would be open to doing so to rectify the game while still early in open beta.

haha.

i’ll tell you something funny.

do you know the BA-11?

that ““tank”” was a starter vehicle for the soviet side during CAT.

people complained about it’s innacuracy, and how much broken that tank is.

result, it got taken away until a few months ago. where it has been putted as a premium vehicle.
( taken away, only after a wipe. of course )

did it got fixed? not even a inch.
and it’s still present.

do you know the PZ III B over moscow?

it has been like that since CAT. didn’t got tweaked or above all, didn’t got removed ( because that tank it’s outdated. even history talks about the PZ III B being used only for training.

but i’m sure they are doing the:

realism ehi?.

the same about the pazner 35/38 [t]

instead of listening feedbacks and replace the pz III B, they put it as a premium vehicles for money, and from what i hear from players it’s basically broken and cannot be perforated by t60s. bt7s and t26s struggle as well.

that’s some foward thinking

but oh boy, let me add more broken stuff because i’m sure the community likes it.

right?

The more I think about the Jumbo and bigger → Badder weapons the more it bums me out…

I want to see stuff like…

M3Halftrack

I agree that it’d be nice to see some APCs in the form of the M2 vs Sd.Kfz. 250, and M3 vs the Sd.Kfz. 251/1, with room for you to carry an allied squad (or two) into battle, and allow your teammates to operate the secondary MG mount on the heavier halftracks. (and third mount in the case of the M3, perhaps?)

Part of something that’d be needed for that to work though, would be a separate “light vehicle” slot different from the slot for direct combat vehicles like tanks / planes.

I’m just trying to make suggestions based on a more pessimistically realistic look at what will probably happen, rather than being overly hopeful to things, and what wiggle room might remain in such.

making the jumbo a premium squad is pure pay to win rubbish.

Love the idea of a light and heavy vehicle slot, lights could encompass fighters and heavies can be bombers. I’d love to have a ‘mechanised inf’ squad where you spawn a smaller squad inside a half track or something.

I agree that fighters would make sense as something to fit in the light vehicle slot, perhaps, though that may be too strong in comparison to what I was thinking of, ex. APCs. But I don’t think you need a mechanized infantry squad, as an APC would be rather strong already if your team is paying attention, as having such would mean reaching caps faster in a vehicle that can actually take hits from infantry, and is a mobile MG nest. Assuming of course, your teamates make use of your presence.

you mean like how they did with the ba-11? oh you didn’t know that the ba-11 was the starting armored vehicle during the closed alpha on moscow? well now you do though i was thinking that they don’t make for sell but just make it a premium squad or an event squad then take it off of the campaign level, but this is the only thing i can think off that allows jumbo to exist, as the devs said they aren’t removing it, and calm people that want it gone

An alternative would be to soft-remove it, leaving it in the inventory of players who have already unlocked it. And if they really intended to keep it in game, to only re-introduce it at a considerably higher campaign tier and with an actual axis equivalent. (which would ideally be a Panther D in role, unless they decided on adding a tiger 1, which being a gaijin affiliate, I’m pretty sure they’d end up doing, at which point the jumbo is the closest you can get to the tiger, so… hence my OP)

I don’t think they could permanently remove the jumbo from the game while leaving it in the hands of players who already have it without uproar, and i think players would be more understanding if it were just swapped out outright, but… well, if it has to stay in game, it should be harder to access to increase it’s rarity, and have a proper counterpart that would actually be an equivalent.
