I’ve been in games before that would do such to replace overpowered assets post-release. I would hope the devs here would be open to doing so to rectify the game while still early in open beta.
haha.
i’ll tell you something funny.
do you know the BA-11?
that ““tank”” was a starter vehicle for the soviet side during CAT.
people complained about it’s innacuracy, and how much broken that tank is.
result, it got taken away until a few months ago. where it has been putted as a premium vehicle.
( taken away, only after a wipe. of course )
did it got fixed? not even a inch.
and it’s still present.
do you know the PZ III B over moscow?
it has been like that since CAT. didn’t got tweaked or above all, didn’t got removed ( because that tank it’s outdated. even history talks about the PZ III B being used only for training.
but i’m sure they are doing the:
realism ehi?.
the same about the pazner 35/38 [t]
instead of listening feedbacks and replace the pz III B, they put it as a premium vehicles for money, and from what i hear from players it’s basically broken and cannot be perforated by t60s. bt7s and t26s struggle as well.
that’s some foward thinking
but oh boy, let me add more broken stuff because i’m sure the community likes it.
right?
The more I think about the Jumbo and bigger → Badder weapons the more it bums me out…
I want to see stuff like…
I agree that it’d be nice to see some APCs in the form of the M2 vs Sd.Kfz. 250, and M3 vs the Sd.Kfz. 251/1, with room for you to carry an allied squad (or two) into battle, and allow your teammates to operate the secondary MG mount on the heavier halftracks. (and third mount in the case of the M3, perhaps?)
Part of something that’d be needed for that to work though, would be a separate “light vehicle” slot different from the slot for direct combat vehicles like tanks / planes.
I’m just trying to make suggestions based on a more pessimistically realistic look at what will probably happen, rather than being overly hopeful to things, and what wiggle room might remain in such.
making the jumbo a premium squad is pure pay to win rubbish.
Love the idea of a light and heavy vehicle slot, lights could encompass fighters and heavies can be bombers. I’d love to have a ‘mechanised inf’ squad where you spawn a smaller squad inside a half track or something.
I agree that fighters would make sense as something to fit in the light vehicle slot, perhaps, though that may be too strong in comparison to what I was thinking of, ex. APCs. But I don’t think you need a mechanized infantry squad, as an APC would be rather strong already if your team is paying attention, as having such would mean reaching caps faster in a vehicle that can actually take hits from infantry, and is a mobile MG nest. Assuming of course, your teamates make use of your presence.
you mean like how they did with the ba-11? oh you didn’t know that the ba-11 was the starting armored vehicle during the closed alpha on moscow? well now you do though i was thinking that they don’t make for sell but just make it a premium squad or an event squad then take it off of the campaign level, but this is the only thing i can think off that allows jumbo to exist, as the devs said they aren’t removing it, and calm people that want it gone
An alternative would be to soft-remove it, leaving it in the inventory of players who have already unlocked it. And if they really intended to keep it in game, to only re-introduce it at a considerably higher campaign tier and with an actual axis equivalent. (which would ideally be a Panther D in role, unless they decided on adding a tiger 1, which being a gaijin affiliate, I’m pretty sure they’d end up doing, at which point the jumbo is the closest you can get to the tiger, so… hence my OP)
I don’t think they could permanently remove the jumbo from the game while leaving it in the hands of players who already have it without uproar, and i think players would be more understanding if it were just swapped out outright, but… well, if it has to stay in game, it should be harder to access to increase it’s rarity, and have a proper counterpart that would actually be an equivalent.
it would cause uproars like when gaijin removed those 4 vehicles in the german TT in War thunder, though the may cause issue with people complain that you can unlock it, and as for comparisons to jumbo panther d would work if it can be penned by a stuart from the side like how puma can do it to jumbo, though adding a TD might be a good compromise instead of adding the panther d
The Panther, unlike the Tiger, should be able to be penned on the side by a Stuart. The slow turret rotation speed of the Panther D would also aid in balancing it compared to allied tanks, I’d imagine, especially in the environment of Enlisted. Hence why I’d say it’s the closet equivalent you’re going to get for Germany to the jumbo.
then yeah i agree, bring in the panther d to be a foe to the jumbo
The issue with the panther is that it can pen all tanks including the jumbo at any angle. Meanwhile all allied tanks cannot pen any of the front of the panther. Meaning it’d be what the jumbo currently does, but worse since the jumbo can only reliably pen turrets of pz 3s and 4s.
The panther cannot pen the jumbo at any angle, that the Jumbo can’t pen it back though?
boots up warthunder to double check
Right, so the Panther will be able to pen the UFP within 5 degrees of a straight shot, but the jumbo’s turret and LFP should still generatlly prevent the panther from penning. Assuming the Jumbo is given M61 or M61A1 (which all 75mm shermans should have in Normandy, and should have more pen than the current solid shot that’s being used for w/e reason), it can penetrate the Panther’s turret front. Both can pen each other in the hull MG.
We really should downpower the Jumbo slot rather than trying to give something to the Germans that “balances out” the matchup, as it will fuck over EVERY tank in Normandy that is not Jumbo or whatever the Germans get to counter it. There would be no use in taking any other tank, unlike with how the current tanks are set up:
Stuart/Puma for speed and flanking
Pz3N/M8 for high rate of fire HE spam
Pz4/Sherman for all-round power
I’m fairly sure we agree that the Jumbo is a problem, but with the alternatives being either removing the jumbo, or ahistorically nerfing it being arguably worse, you’re pretty much left with bumping it up the brackets to make it rarer, and pairing it with a more comperable axis vehicle, as your only real solution.
And the Pz3N is more a mobile bunker than just high RoF HE spam, though that is basically the only thing the M8 is. Which is why my original, and primary point, was to replace the M8 with a more comparable allied vehicle that was at Normandy like a 105mm sherman or a Centaur.
As for the comment that there is no use in taking any other tank other than a jumbo or panther, one should consider not only the fact that, ideally, these would be at the very top of the campaign progression, they would also be relatively slow, and particularly poor against infantry given their poor traverse rates for tank and turret.
Replacing it with a more suitable vehicle - Sherman 105, Firefly, or Churchill mk3 - would work perfectly fine.
While I do have to agree about the Pz3N vs M8 thing, I think the most interesting fix could be replacing the M8 with something like the M7 Priest, or replacing the Pz3N with a StuG3F. Overall, there could be a ton of cool, interesting vehicles in Normandy without sacrificing historical accuracy, or balance. There are even artillery variants of French captured B1 Bis tanks for the Germans.
The concern, as mentioned in an earlier post, is that there would be a wave of complaints similar to what happened in warthunder when various ahistorical vehicles were removed after people had acquired them.
A sherman 76 or Sherman Firefly would probably be the best competitors to the Pz IVH, that I can think of, honestly, though.
As for the M8 Vs 3N, As I stated, a 105mm sherman or Centaur are the best equivalents. Alternatively, you could swap the 3N for a Sd.Kfz.234/3 or Sd.Kfz. 251/9, which would be a closer equivalent to the M8 instead.
well then better change these things fast before ppl get used to having these broken OP monsters.
