Suggestion about MMG and HMG dilemma

Right now MMGS are basically and without exaggerating useless as pointed out by many and basically they are not used anymore so I pointed out something that would give both a meaning

  1. give HMG to engineer squads, and MMG in gunner squad, that way HMGS since there are less engi squads and more bulding to split your resources with will be spammed less. Also HMGS are more fitting in engi squads since I doubt infantrymen with BARS walked around with a 50 cal emplacement

  2. Make MMGS an “half fixed position”, meaning you can place the tripod mg (without the sandbag thing) but if you want you can dismount it and bring it to another position without having to lose building resources (obviously the dismounting and mounting process will be a lot quicker than the building/destroying one). Before that obviously devs should animate different firing position, so you can place your MMG in different heights and angles.

About the lafette tripod, since it would be in disadvantage against more flexible mgs like the 30 cal browning, I would give to the mgs a sight like this (and obviously the abiltity to elevate/depress the tripod system)

For the maxim gun, you could use the wheels to move like on the anti-tank guns

USELESS? WHAT?

well, they could use some ability to be moved around though… (maybe a dedicated group of 3 soldiers assign to it and operate it?)

I literally don’t see them anymore on the matches. Literally. And devs themselves said that HMGS are in every way better.
I even stopped building MMGS myself, because its true

Tbh I wouldn’t mind if MMG was a “weapon” that you can have in your second weapon slot or backpack (prefferably for non-gunner class).

How it could work for Ge and US:
Press 2 to equip a tripod. Use the blueprint to place it (ideally with proper animation). At the same time your AI gunner runs to you and mounts his gun on the trpod (ideally with proper animation). Now a 2 man crew is manning the MMG nest.

oh, you are talking about lmg’s, well, there is no real point in them being built as a building, since they can be carried around by gunners, instead, sandbag + addition of bipods should do the thing

No I was talking about MG nests (the old ones)

i never even saw them… they were just too shitty with their shit angles. they could actually be usable if they get their angles adjusted…

That’s why I suggested them to be an half fixed position

i know, there are lmg’s mouned on it

well technically they are medium machine guns, or in the german case, General purpose Mgs

.

there isnt even need to be half fixed. they should just make them like map mg nests which have much wider angles (btw still would like vertical angle adjustment to those as well).

speaking of moscow for example the hmg is only reason to use lmg squad at all.
switching to mmg which has been rendered useless months ago hardly would help the lmg squads.

The reason of basically no one using mmg is not because of the addition of hmg, it is because of it is build by engineer 2 squad. Moving mmg to engineer 1 will solve the problem easily.

they would not be used the same in my opinion, also because engi 1 is unlocked before gunner squad

What do you mean by used the same?

this lafette also has a built in mechanism that allows for really good angles and depression in all directions.

The HMG is very useful when defending a wooden building. It could pierce the wooden wall and take anybody behind the wall to heaven. And the most enjoyable thing is, the damage is not decreasing even in a very long range.

they would be abandoned as they are right now

In the German army was an LMG and MMG the same. Only different was the Lafette, were the MG was mounted on.
