in the last updates and announcements we had seen lots of weapon categories nerfs coming to enlisted, the most notorious ones been the massive shotgun category nerf, the MG nerf, the Semi automatic rifle nerf, and now we see the announcement of a massive SMG nerf.
if you look at the categories of weapons been nerf they all got something in common, they are all more or less weapons that are proficient at CQC combat compared to the remaining categories of weapons, been sniper rifles, AT rifles, AT weapons and bolt action rifles. this on it self says something, maybe the weapons are not over powered but bolt actions are underpowered, which for CQC combat it is to be expected. now if you need bolt action rifles to become more competitive, then nerfing everything to oblivion isnât the solution to anything at all, instead you need to generate more situations where bolt action rifles are more useful than more CQC oriented weapons, so for example fields where the engagement range is around 80-200m in an open large objective. instead of the house fights that enlisted tend to have as capture points.
nerfing everything to random useless weapons is not a good idea by any means as in some cases it makes full categories of weapons become completely useless or nearly useless such as the case of the shotgun, and in other cases it makes weapon boring and frustrating to use in a bad way, such as bullets leaving the barrel of the gun at imposible angles, or weapons of low caliber with massive recoil and little damage. all of those situations suck hard. if you donât believe download a nearly dead game called heroes and generals and look for you self what happens we you cater to the nerf everything groups.
Also around the fact of feedback for the love of god, in a asymmetrically balanced game never, for any reason cater to people asking for random weapon or vehicle nerfs on the other side. if you put attention people will always think that the grass is greener at the other side, as such if they got the best weapon at something of X category but the other team has the best weapon at something else in the Y category, they will try to push the idea that they need the best weapons at both X and Y category because they wont focus on what they got, but at what they donât have.
this isnât something unique to video games but it happens in real life too, so you should avoid to either made decisions only based on user feedback, but you should also avoid making changes only in pure data. you need to take in both, look at your design as see if it is working well, or it needs tweaking.
I am not really looking forward to this as i believe the majority of the submachine guns are okay in terms of damage and they do not need a damage reduction. All guns in enlisted should be powerful and be easy to kill with.
I really donât hope anymore shitty nerfs come along because the developers listen to a few cod kids saying âwahh this weapon is too powerful please nerf it because i die too often from itâ
How the weapons are in enlisted current is fine it does need to be changed so its like a cod/battleifled fucking clone where it takes 4 to 6 shots to kill someone with a submachine gun.
So basically to the developers DO NOT NERF THE SUBMACHINE GUN DAMAGE its just effectively a pointless and bad change.
Thatâs what most game developers seem to do though instead of what they should do which is make everything viable and powerful. This is probably because they donât play the game they develop or play it too a decent enough level or just listen to the cod kids that complain about something people âoverpoweredâ when it isnât or because they are just shit developers.
They are already pretty good i use them a lot over semi autos.
This sets off my ocd sadly its been a way of balancing guns in many games. Its not as bad as other methods though. But Jesus why do bullets fire off at angles when i move even ever so slightly with the lmgâs.
God damn i had such promise for that game it was fantastic at first and yes the developers did kill it with content unnecessary nerfs due to not knowing what to change and listening too all the cod kids complaining about weapons being overpowered.
I really hope enlisted does not go the same way as heroes and generals however it is a possibility.
I agree with this. Those people usually asking for something to be nerfed on the other side is because quite frankly they are a shit at the game. Skill issue.
They will never learn to deal with that thing they see as overpowered because they wonât wont too and will continue to bitch about it. These people really just need to learn to play the game and shut the fuck up.
Yea i agree also the shotguns really do not belong on the assaulter class. perhaps the pump action has some place on that class however the double barrels should be a universal weapon and usable by all classes.
I think thatâs to be expected though especially when normal classes have access to select fire weapons such as m2 carbines and FG42âs. I think select fire weapons perhaps should to be limited per squad or moved too gunner (FG42) and moved too assaulter (m2 carbine) however i could be wrong about doing this.
Bolt actions seem a lot more accurate and potent than semiâs especially at range so in my mind they are still good.
The problem is that Idiots make more Noise.
Such a Threat like this one should blow up the Forum Frame so that the Developers react.
But People remain Silent, as always.
The way I see it, they should implement all easily measurable parameters as closely to reality as possible. Only those parameters that are more difficult to measure could be adjusted within reason. All the rest is to be fixed (if problems arise) through map and game mode design.
In many ways we have the exact opposite happen in Enlisted. And when things inevitably go wrong, they just hammer anything that sticks out, forgetting that itâs a delicate mechanism they are working with.
Where did you guys take that info from? I only remember seeing the whole weapon rebalance thing(smg damage nerf, bolt action massive buffs) in Stalingrad, but I thought it will only happen there and no damage changes in other campaigns.
