Yeah the implementation on the carbines is ass-backwards. Smaller cartridge than the stg but as much recoil as a Garand.
Why should bad precedents be followed?
Im hoping the devs take a step back and make full auto assault rifles less common. If that was the type of game I was looking for I certainly wouldnt be playing a ww2 fps.
IMO single shot Bolt action rifles combined with swapping to mele/pistols makes the game a bit slower and much more tactical than just spraying a bullet hose half way across the map.
Also if you slow down the combat a bit your entire squad wont be wiped by the time you try to swap to your next soldier.
He got a point, hell yeah! +1
I mean, they could easily just move assault guns to the assaulter class without changing to much.
Or they could even add a new type of squad and soldier, without changing the existing squads.
Something like a “reserve / conscript squad” where you have even more active soldiers something like 12, but the catch is “boltaction only”
There is a lot they “could” do to make one hit kill auto guns less appealing to use.
new players are already having enough trouble understanding they need to get on the cap point.
I believe the end-game squard setting of both faction would look like: STG44+FG42/MG42+FG42, and RD44+AVT40/PPsch41+AVT40. It seems that after the test in Normandie in last year devs have determined to give Germans FG42 as their end-game rifle rather than STG44. It looks perfectly balanced to me, which is much better than Moscow where Soviets get PPD at levl 11. And considering Germans could also have Me410 with 500kg*2, Tigher II it favors Germans a little but considering how many easy wins soviets get in the early period it’s pretty fair.
IMO they could’ve just given FG42 parameters to Stg44 and include it in game, Stg was more widespread anyways. And FG42 could be kept super limited, maybe only FG42 II version to sniper III squad. And I don’t think that all squads will consist just of Stg44 then. For example for radio operators I still use Bolt-action and for troopers I choose Kar48 with schiessbecher often. And already now, at highers levels rarely who equip trooper squad just with bolt action rifles. On both sides. Mostly I see Semi-auto squads, Assaulters or Machine gunners
I agree with you but Stg44 and FG42 are completely different guns intended for different fighting purposes. FG42 was designed to a gun for everything used by elite paratrooper, and STG44 was at least hoped to be able to replace both Kar98k and MP40, fires semi-auto in the middle range(which doesn’t happen a lot in this game due to map size), and full auto within 50m or in any emergency situation. Due to its recoil caused by fully powered cartridges and its small magazine FG42 doesn’t fit this role unless in extreme close distance, but in real battles it doesn’t happen a lot).
But they aren’t best gun at all. All of them have insane recoil to shoot automatically until you have 5 levl soldiers to get that perk -40% vertical recoil
Automatic weapons are meta, nobody can deny.
And if they are meta → they are the best.
Maybe Stg itself is not the best but it’s one of the best. Close enough to not give it to everybody.
The only really OP weapon is FG42 II. With that perk -40% vertical recoil it feels like using assult rifles and thus is extremly OP. FG42, without that perk, is just a Gewehr 43 with larger magazine and CQC capability. Semi-auto+ CQC capability, that’s what devs view the end-game rifle sould be, take a look at here:
AVS-36 — The Simonov automatic rifle has a very high fire rate and offers a burst fire mode, which makes it suitable for both close quarters and long range engagements! The high accuracy and versatility of this weapon will allow these radio operations to excel in firefights.
If you disagree with this kind of thought, you should give more concret reasons rather than simply point out they are meta.
And by automatic doesn’t mean it can fire auto every time when you want. You must take recoil into consideration. Maybe it’s OP in Normandie becuase of its extremly tiny maps.
And thankfully it’s class limited.
I wonder what new players will think about this aproatch when they will encounter squads fully equiped with automatic weapons (so again, meta) while having only BA rifles. Surley they will stay for more, no doubt.
Also should be class limited.
Because every other campaign has big maps lol
Just climb their way to get semiauto at level 7. I did it within two days.
Ok, so one semi auto + 6 BA rifles vs 7 AVS. Pure balance.
But one semi auto +6 BA vs 3 AVS + 4 BA seems more resonable in my opinion. It’s still bad but it’s better.
(AVS is only an example.)
And if you don’t like the “balance” argument than prove that whole soviet army used AVS, whole wehrmacht used FG 42, whole US army used M2 as their primary weapons.
What I mean why must you keep refering to BA rifles. Nobody will use it after reaching levl 7, which can be done within 8 hours(with premium). Even without you can get it within about a week.
True, but again, that’s what new players have (you have to grind those semi somehow). And satisfying new players is one of the most important things game has to do. Otherwise they will just quit and won’t leave the money nor fill the servers to keep the game alive.
Then they should introduce some modes where new players under level 7 can play together with their BF rifles. But dissatisfy the players who have spent time and money just to delight new players isn’t a good idea. And that’s most games do — you must find a balance between these two things. So whether a better level match system should be introduced or you can allow new players to play together(just like in Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six) with their BA rifle. But dissatisfy old players with more money and time spent in isn’t a solution and would make this game fall. Just think about it: Why would I still use BF rifle after playing 60 or 100 hours just to make new players happy? Would you accept?
