I have (at least) a couple of issues with the new campaign levels, so I’d like to suggest how to make it more balanced and more enjoyable to free to play players. I will include two suggestions: one that represents minimal necessary changes to make much more people happy with it, and the other one that I would be most happy with.
1. Current levels from the devblog:
2. Minimum changes version:
3. “Ideal” (for me) version:
So, some clarification. Here’s the key:
- Blue - changed weapon/vehicle (moved from another level)
- Yellow - changed level status (free to paid or the other way around)
- Green - new weapon/vehicle
And now explanation for some of the new stuff. First of all, three top levels - I think that the minimal amount of changes needed to make Stalingrad way better is to make level 24 free and switch levels 25 with 26 (25 - free, 26 - paid) This way f2p and full access players with fully-ground campaigns would be similarly powerful, but their progress would look differently:
And now for the “full rework” version:
- MP 40 - It’s that early because I don’t think it’s that good, and also because I wanted to include the Orița M1941 where the MP 40 was earlier.
- Bren Mk II - Just so it isn’t the Breda Mod. 30. I choose the Bren since it was a Lend-Lease weapon.
- 31M Solothurn - It’s just a Hungarian designation for the MG 30. I think it would be nice if this squad was Hungarian, and since this gun was used both by them and by Germans, people like me won’t have a problem with unhistorical loadouts.
- Orița M1941 - I feel like it better counters the PPS-42, and also a lot of people on the forum wanted to see it.
- Sniper Gewehr 41 - One of the best bolt action sniper rifles (for me) is the Carcano carbine. That is because of the ZF-41 scope. Its magnification is just perfect fot the role of the “CQC sniper”. So why not having it on the G 41?
- Pe-3 - It’s the same one as in the Moscow campaign. And it should be there because the A-20G is better in every way. It has six .50cals as opposed to one 7.5mm, it carries four 500lb (~225kg) bombs or 12 M8 rockets as opposed to two 200kg ones, and it has one .50cal turret and one double .50cal turret as opposed to one 7.5mm turret. So the Pe-3 is way more balanced.
- MP 41(r) - German PPSh-41 rechambered for the 9x19mm Para and made to use MP 40 mags. It would probably fire slightly slower since 9mm Para is weaker than 7.62mm Tokarev. And it’s here because I hate “red vs blue balance”, and giving the same PPSh-41 to both sides is just that. So why not make Axis have the better infantry full auto weapon, and Soviets have better SMGs?
And one more thing if the AVT-40/MKb 42(H) was to be free - no more than two of them per a trooper squad and one per all other squads.

This already seems a lot better than the original Stalingrad campaign levels. To be honest i was rather unimpressed with some of the choices for the weaponry in Stalingrad however this seems a hell of a lot more interesting.
Nice you really nailed the weapon choices for this one much better than the developers. No offence to the developers though. I really do hope they change the weapon choice for Stalingrad for this because its a hell of a lot better.
Also i was expecting the ZK-383 to be on Stalingrad too however apparently we just get the MP28 and MP40 (how fucking fun)
Developers please make this guys ideal version for the Stalingrad progression the actual progression to add more uniqueness to the campaign.

Plus only for the increased diversity.

increased diversity is always nice ^.^
Using the same shit just gets boring its probably the only issue I have with enlisted is that in some campaign areas there is a lack of variety in terms of equipment and small arms.

Yeah. Dont need another Tunisia gear-wise.

They deleted it because it was too bugged ? why didn’t they fix it instead of removing it why remove content from a game when you can fix it.

As much as i do like Tunisia yes i agree with that. There was much more they could of added to Tunisia in terms of equipment and small arms to make it a lot more fresh and interesting to grind and play.
but removing things instead of fixing them is bad development practice >w<
Rather sad.

I really like it. But if you allow me an opinion. I think it’s a shame to struggle with the trophy ppsh. It is easier to move the mkbh to the assulters (thus limiting them, and I think this is enough compensation for the power of ppsh) and put the 15-cartridge zh-29 in its place. Which is not automatic but is closer to AVT’s capabilities. Or I would swap free kv-1 and paid t-34. Many “cryers” would calm down if they could get at least the basic t-34.

I also wanted the ZK-383, but without adding another level it isn’t really possible. And giving Soviets the box mag PPSh or drum PPD doesn’t really feel good for me.
I think it should be added to Moscow instead of the 20 round Beretta M38.
I mean, its in Normandy so there is that.
Instead of the AVT-40 they should have added an SVT-40 with a 20 round magazine and instead of the MkB the ZH-29 with a 20 rnd. magazine.
That way there would be no SF spam. You would think DF would have learned something from Berlin and Normady, but I guess they didnt…

I’ve considered giving the MKb to assaulters, but I couldn’t find any AVT counterparts. I haven’t thought about the ZH-29 with bigger magazine (15 or 20 rounds), and while it certainly is an option, I have a very big problem with the ZH-29 - it was examined by the land forces, but was rejected, and yet we see it in the regular progression. I mean, imagine the US soldiers in Normandy running around with the Pedersen or Johnson rifles.
As for the tanks, I think devs did that correctly - the T-34E STZ has a better gun and a thicker frontal plate (60mm at 60° vs 75mm at 31° for the KV-1) than the KV-1.

I’ve unlocked it there and that’s why I want it in other campaigns. It’s awesome, especially while prone or mounted - then its recoil drops to almost zero. Besides, it was used on the Eastern Front, not in Normandy, so its place is there.
“I mean, imagine the US soldiers in Normandy running around with the Pedersen or Johnson rifles.”
You never know what the next update will bring: D
And yes, there in zh-29 in Moscow and here too, so I think there would hardly be a problem here. It is not uncommon for campaigns to have the same weapon coming in at a later level. I also think it is relatively “easy” and quick to solve (not to downplay the work that involves such a small change, texture, animation, etc.). Maybe it could even be solved for release. I thought of the t-34 (not the E, but the normal t-34, which is also worth the paid package, right) because a lot of Russian “cryers” (not out of hurt) complain that it’s paid. Who make up a significant portion of the player base to my knowledge. There might be a little less resistance from the players. Which I don’t think would be bad for the current situation. I think you also rearranged the campaign levels to make it a little more acceptable / better. And I think no matter where kv-1 or t-34 are, there will be real ass pain to fight them with both pz3 variants.

I think it would be good if they added some Stalingrad specific / iconic AFVs as well, like the StuH’42 and the Sig33 B, given their rarity, I’d be happy for them to be premium.
For the Soviets, perhaps some more lend lease options - Valentines, Matildas or perhaps an M3 Lee

As for the ZH-29, again, I know it could be done, but I didn’t do it because of what I said earlier. I mean, this weapon has more “rights” to be a battle pass weapon for Americans (in .276 Pedersen) than an unlockable weapon for Axis. So I really wouldn’t like it being a top weapon for Germans in Stalingrad, especially in two variants.
I thought about the tanks for Soviets here, but I came to the conclusion that both KV-1 and T-34 are iconic enough for people to be happy. But if not, I think that the best solution is making KV-1 level paid and making T-34E STZ level free. This way Soviets would have a free T-34 and Axis would still have a free Pz. IV. Also, I hope that the Pz. IIIN will have HEAT rounds. If so, it won’t be a problem for it.
I’m all for adding the StuH 42, but I’d be a bit worried for how the StuIG 33B would do with its reload. As for more Lend-Lease vehicles, I don’t think adding them is possible without adding new levels to this campaign. And judging by what they added to the top levels right now (MKb 42(H) and PPSh-41), I don’t think there will be any more new levels.
I want that Sniper Gewher 41. Fuck the Pre-war Kar98k, it’s useless dogshit.
