I know its been brought up before, but I’d like to mention it fresh as it is making a massive impact on gameplay, not being able to stack sandbags.
(I know its not effecting EVERYONE as the number of people that actually fortify is considerably lower than the other players, but it IS making a difference.)
I understand that there was an exploit that was done with it, which is likely why you removed it (hopefully only temporarily), but I would hope that it wasn’t a terribly difficult fix and you will be returning stackable sandbag walls to us soon.
They are especially necessary for defense against tank shells, flamethrowers, and grenades. Not to mention needed to cover the sides of (H)MG nests to make them much more resistant. (Snipers still excel at knocking them out when they are fortified.)

… It’s a good thing that snipers can take those out easily. At least snipers become very useful for something.

Unless when you are f2p and have only 3 slots.
Then snipers are too specialised and are a hinderance. Just like 50% of other squads.

More the reason not to shield hmg users too much, then… If f2p don’t even bring heavy gunners natural predators (snipers) in their squads…

On topic of shields.
I’m amazed how dice managed to make 3 games (at least) where stationary guns not only are easy to outmanouver but also weak as hell.
I hope to not see this in enlisted though we already have stupid high dispersion and stupid low damage on tank MGs.

Ah yes. Fire a 2s burst and then wait 10s for the weapon to cool down. At least it would be justified if the weapon had 3000 rpm.

I somehow find ways to fit snipers in some of my squads but not often.
Yes, giving F2Ps only 3 slots for infantry is balanced, while they face people rocking 5+ squads in their lineup.
(yes I’m being sarcastic)

Snipers fit really well in squads like radiomen (those guys are supposed to be at the rear) or mortarmen (forgot if you can add em, I assault with my mortar guys).
They can be really handy in a riflemen squad as well, to clear dangerous targets before swarming a cap… But I prefer a lmg guy for a more multi purpose role.
I forgot if you can select them in engineers squads too… I generally hang very close to the front line with mine, but I know some guys who prefer to build support stuff at the rear.

Dont know mate, there are alot of weird positions that you can glitch into. I have seen some dudes building literally sand bag ladders to reach building tops and roofs.
Maybe if it would somehow be possible to only stack two sandbag walls on top of each other… but no restriction at all smells really bad like “exploitation”
Yeah sometimes my assaulters have a sniper attached to clear problems, but they lack CQC capabilities in some situations.
But if given a choice I usually take a engineer, AT gunner, or radioman.
They’re never giving us back stackable sandbags they hate the concept of strategic thinking or people using their brain they can’t hurt their Smooth brain players

Thats how its suppossed to be though, the best way to avoid that is building them in strategic alleyways

Right, because its not like there is some magical class that falls from the sky and gets on rooftops as well…
OH WAIT!
If somebody wants to waste their time and sandbag walls to get up on top of a rooftop so be it. Paratroopers are already a pain in the ass, at least this way someone could get up to them if they chose to.
Reality is though that most situations the sandbags would only be 2-3 tall. After all, you are still limited to 10 sandbag walls.
I’m not disagreeing with you. I added the note about snipers being able to still knock them out as a counterpoint in case someone tried to make the argument that fortified MG nests were “too strong”.
After all, there is a LOT of things in this game that have completely fallen by the wayside (including snipers) in favor of run-and-gun fast-paced gameplay.
I’d love to see snipers, AT troops, mortarmen, etc. make a comeback and be useful again, but its going to take some pretty major changes that I don’t know if the devs are interested in committing in. Many of us would like to see a return of strategic gameplay, rather than just a knockoff COD which is where they seem to be heading with over half of their updates.
lots of images of them from the good old days… I remember stacks of sandbags, wire and hedgehogs - can’t find any images of those now… but this gives the same idea…

Too bad it doesnt work anymore.
