Squad leveling grind NEEDS reducing!

I’m a returning veteran player after about a year break and I’m really enjoying the game again. One thing I do not enjoy and I hope they address the squad xp grind.

14,400 XP for 1 level! Also, Just so I can get a little bit more xp I need a minimum of 9 levels to get this squad to full strength and utility (as in full correct troops). That’s 129,600 xp NOT factoring that from comparing another squad the increase in xp from say level 4 to level 5 is around 7% more xp per level so the total would get exponentially higher.

So over 130,000 xp just to get basic functionality for the squad!

For the Red “Personal Upgrades” tab I need 10 levels before I will even be able to utilize Sniper 3s troops in my actual lineup. So that’s over 144,000 XP. Just to use that troop type!

Now for Workshop upgrade tab (weapon upgrades) Luckily for this squad it only has one weapon in this tree. So I need 5 levels. That’s another 72,000 XP to be able to max upgrade my gun!

The minimum total to get full functionality of weapons, troops equipped and troop upgrades ( I can’t be bothered with factoring in the 7% increase to each level) is over 346,000 XP!

This needs to be reduced drastically! I’m fine with grinding the campaign tree but if I’ve unlocked something I feel like I should be able to get the functionality of using it or at least unlocking full functionality after a few games and maxing it out in a few more.

By comparison a rank 1 sniper squad is this:

So 1180 xp per level to unlock that’s fine! This squad even comes with 3 levels already unlocked at the get go and this squad has the exact same functionality as the other squad! I can and will use a sniper 1 squad and just kit it out with MKB and have Rank 5 Sniper 1s in my lineup with MKBs .

The only difference is their base perk of Sniper 1s having 14% extra jump height vs Sniper 3s perk of 4.8% extra reload speed. That makes basically no difference to me! That does not justify the difference of a 1220.33% increase in XP per level!

This is the most annoying thing I’m encountering in the game at the moment please Darkflow and @1942786 Raise this with the team and reduce these numbers drastically or just leave it as the base tier 1 level amount throughout the campaign if people have grinded the campaign levels they deserve to be able to get full functionality of the squad relatively quickly. Especially if you want to make Enlisted a Better Place.

@all the veteran Enlisted players out there you know my pain please like and comment on this post so it gains some notice so they hopefully do something about it. At all the new players out there please like this post as well so they might change it for your benefit!

eh, tbh.

i’d be more fine with either tech trees, or keep the same grind, except each level gives you more unlocks ( than just one alone ).

Ghost only the first 4 or 5 levels are kinda pain on that squads, if you go blue upgrade first, the 25% x4 xp will grind that type of squads really fast.

Do the blue part first, focus on the xp then more troopers and you I’ll get 1 to multiple levels per game.

Don’t forget that You also need more bronze orders to level up the new type of trooper.
Though, looking at the amount of them You have, I suspect this shouldn’t be a problem.

I just don’t think that there is much actual power difference between a sniper I and a sniper III that justifies any increase to the grind whether in XP or in Bronze orders.

Like if I equip the squads the same they will perform the same so why should I have to grind 1200%+ more to use it. The xp difference should be like 10% at most.

Yes, IK but still there’s no justification for it being 1200% more xp when they perform just the same on the battlefield.

It’s just tedious. Also why is reserve space still in the squad leveling after the academy rework?

They want you buy premium and buy perk level

problem is that you need the squad levels to improve weapons, so it makes the grind even bigger

well, the point is, i can ( theorically ) at least unlock stuff and get what i want without thinking too much about the level.

in the current state, there can be usually 2 levels ( or more, one behind the other ) that you don’t care about because are some rather quesitonables smgs or whatever and you still have to go through before actually getting something that you might be interested in.

reducing both somewhat the grind ( as you unlock more things ) but allow more room for other stuff.

Yeah but I highly doubt anyone would pay to max out a whole squad. The cost of buying those levels is ridiculously high as usual. Besides why should we have to pay anything for a squad level that’s ridiculous we’ve already grinded for the squad.

Also, because of this I almost always completely skip grinding squads I won’t use at end game. Meaning I am just not enjoying most of the stuff I unlock because it’s too grindy and a waste of time.

My 4th assault squad for example. I don’t even see the reason to it. Devs could have added the new weapon upgrades into the third assaulter squad instead of creating a fourth.

There’s no real incentive to use an assaulter lvl 4 over a lvl 1,2 or 3. Unless you really swim in bronze and like the class perk :thinking:

Thankfully, as @Shiivex said, it’s not that difficult to lvl. Especially assaulters, which are in my opinion the easiest to lvl and use squads.

I’d be depressed with a mortar lvl 4 or fighter pilot 4, thought :laughing:

No, but if people do this and want do this, dev simple try to milk more money from them

Is just business and you are not forced to upgrade gun/veichle or grind lv2 squad, you can simply play

Ok we agree then, so it’s not OK for your average Joe player.

Do you agree it should be be reduced and made easier for everyone so we can actually more easily utilize squads as they are unlocked?

Also, why should whales or anyone have to pay for this. It’s simply not a good feature of the game that I hoped to highlight.

This issue just doesn’t need to be in the game at all in my opinion or needs reducing back to a normal amount. The end result is as some people at people like @Conscript_Joe (I agree with your above statement btw) either don’t use it ask it’s a pointless waste of time and bronze orders or people like me who wan’t to optimize and use it but feel like… why should I waste all that time and bronze orders to have basically the same functionality as a T1 or T2 squad. This also means the devs wasted their time making that squad in the first place as most people won’t enjoy it to it’s full capacity.

I don’t think it’s good business to make scummy paywalls. To me it’s bad game design and it could be fixed by just changing some numbers.

Now with this question…
I am a bit puzzled:
on one hand - getting upgrades and unlocking stuff is nice,
on the other - why play with this, if all has been unlocked with it?

I think a player needs some incentive to visit even the older squads (that is more than just tasks like ‘kill X enemies with artillery’, or mortars/flamethrowers/etc).
Maybe several sub-upgrades, or even reduced experience point gain for other squad(s)…?
