Many of the squads have excess squad points due to overlapping of upgrades linked to veteran soldier upgrade. These points are redundant currently are not useable anywhere else.
Since these excess points are a direct result of the old upgrade system and the rushed merge. I think its fair for us to spend them to upgrade our soldiers in terms of free soldier exp. Since squad exp are directly tied to them when calculating the endgame results. This way we can upgrade new soldiers faster.

No, they were present even before merge. It has nothing to do with it.

I temped this idea before, but since vehicle squad progression is different than infantry ones, I don’t think they would allow that.
I’m willing to split it up in to different types, vehicle squad upgrade points, infantry squad points. Or maybe Allow only premium squads to earn universal squad points and standard squads earn soilder level up points.
Iirc the number depended on the weapon/ backpack slot and the specialist squad slots, probably so people had ability to post-switch slots.
But it was never that much afaik. Usually 3-4 at best.
