Some squads from pre merge require a absurd amount of xp to level up:
To fix this I suggest that squads wich are max level should produce universal squad upgrade points. Perhaps if this is too op it should be limited to premium squads.

It is very annoying and silly that we have squads earning points that cant be used.
We have ‘bonus research points’ (I think they are gold/yellow stars) which can be universally applied so I dont see why we shouldnt have a similar system for XP.
As for squad upgrades or especially weapon/vehicle upgrades, I strongly question the current system.
Why should I have to grind a squad I dont want to use and will never use just to upgrade a rifle or tank?
After all, whether I grind ‘X’ tank squad so I can upgrade the tank in my ‘Y’ tank squad, either way it doesnt affect DF. They dont get any extra money from it. It makes no sense.
Some people say they like going and playing with squads they wouldnt normally use. I find this a strange opinion. For example, why on earth would you want to grind a Rifleman I squad just to get a better rifle for your Engineers or that 1 guy in your MG squad? A rifleman squad has no particular benefit to playing it.
There’s also the fact that you can play with any squad you wish i.e if you decide hey Id like to try an AT squad for a while, you can. But that doesnt justify forcing people to grind (for example) an AT squad just so their AT guy can have a pistol to defend himself.
…yeah. It’s called end game grind. It’s like that on purpose
I actually quite like being forced to use all the different squads. Motivates me to level them all up and max them all out, which I want to get around to doing anyways, but this gives me a tangible reason to do so
From an old weapon and soldier upgrade that never got activated and eventually got removed
At the moment squad levels can be bought for gold, so this process is already optional for paying players. Besides by the time you’ve leveled up a squad to max, you should already be familiar with the major squad types

Who said anything about getting familiar with the squad? I just like that I HAVE to use ALL of the squads if I want to keep upgrading better and better stuff
I think universal upgrade points are not a good idea, but I really do agree that some squads are way too much to upgrade.
For example, this 2 man squad.
The best way is to just make it so Lvl 1 squads are like 1000 xp to lvl up the first lvl, lvl 2 squads are like 5000, lvl 3 is like 7500 xp, and lvl 4 is like 10000
