Specific squads. Specific buildables

Gunner squads can make MG nests.
Flamethrower squads can now make ampulomets (Only on eastern campaigns, for now)
Engineer squads can make just about everything.

The idea is simple.

To encourage players to include engineers, as well as give every squad specific niches to fill out instead of being strictly dependent on class composition, we introduce specific buildable objects.

My proposal, as well as what already exists is:

Gunner squads can make heavy machinegun nests
Flamethrower squads can make ampulomets (No longer tied to campaigns)
Anti-tank squads can make heavy AT guns
Assaulter squads can make armored rallies (Same durability as heavy machineguns)
Engineer squads will retain the ability to build everything, but engineer I squads may now build regular MG nests.

Great idea!
The engineers in the assault squad should be able to create a field kitchen.
Drinking soup with meat is +300% stamina.

Yes please, made my first Engineering squad redundant, for now :stuck_out_tongue:
Till merge, then it will have a place, back in low br, then of be of use again.

The best part is that if they did this, they would go back and give the relevant old premium squads an engineer to construct the new buildable.

Except the Ampulomet was Soviet so it can be used only by Soviets and Germans (but only when facing Soviets, as a possible captured weapon).

Historical accuracy never did stop the game from progressing in… Creative ways.

Violation of historical accuracy is never due to Creativity but Laziness of developers, because there are so many unique counterparts of a weapon in history but developers only made one in game and give it to every faction.

In fact even Germans should not have Ampulomet, but they can have infantry howitzers to fire incendiary rounds. As I remember there was a post in the forum that suggested a model of infantry howitzers used by German that could do similar job of Ampulomet, with historical picture.

When I used “creativity”, it was a euphemism- In sarcasm.

From quad flaks, to giving the soviets panzerfausts and a pak 40, to Federovs all the way in Berlin-
Jumbos in the Normandy beach landings, Panzer 3 B training tanks in frontline service- You get the idea.

The game is has always been a mishmash of things that are vaguely historical.

All we need now are revolver shotguns, Stg 44s, AS-44s and RPDs in Stalingrad, and we’ve reached CoD: Vanguard levels of credibility.

I don’t mind other squads having buildables, but because they outclass the engineer versions (currently, e.g heavy Mg vs mg) I feel like logistics should be solely engineers. (i.e ammo and rallies). perhaps unpopular opinion, but It would instantly make engineer squads highly valuable/required, being the only ones able to build rallies and ammo. Make them the True support class, that cant be replaced.

Unique to squad buildable:
MG -heavy MG
Flame - Apulomet
AT Gunner - Heavy AT Gun
Engineer - rallies, ammo,

I don’t think this is a good idea.
Instead I would like to suggest a sort of bangalore torpedo instead. This would allow you to clear lines of barbwire and other fortifications more effectively. As an assaulter squad should be doing.

Also, I’d like to add in that snipers squad should get either wooden guard towers (seen in many campaigns if not all) or at the very least a ladder.

Finally, the engineer squad itself, since it will likely be phased out by everything else, should get a special variant of standard defensive structures that are far more durable. Making them the strongest for actual fortification.

Ive mentioned a distinction between combat engineers and engineers a few times. I think combat engineers should be more about deconstruction than construction. I.e satchels and bangalores

Maybe not every squad needs to be able to build something, but AT guns for AT squad would make lots of sense.
