Specific squads. Specific buildables

I know, ZH-29 and Johnson rifle in Tunisia are probably the best examples of that, but they never went that far. They already said Soviets in Normandy will never happen, so I think it’s safe to assume they mean Soviet weapons and buildables as well.

Explain.

The entire point of giving squads special buildables is to further their niche, with engineer squads being the jack of all trades, master of none, in exchange for being undermanned. There is no necessity to increase the durability of buildables- Small arms fire can already be soaked by sandbags, and tank traps are already completely immune to all damage, and can only be deconstructed.

You’re advocating for something we already have- TNT charges. And you can stuff them on every soldier if you so desire.

The point of an armored rally is to make them less likely to be destroyed by stray gunfire or artillery shrapnel, making them a bit more durable to place out in the open compared to conventional rallies. Otherwise, assaulter squads already very strong on their own due to their squad compositon, and do not need the ability lay down traps on top of having the highest number of automatic weapons by soldier class.

I do not promote any kind of campy playstyles, and frankly, I’d rather not give snipers another excuse to camp.

No. That’s just kneecapping the pace of the game to artificially add value to the engineer squad.

Basic sandbags do soak up small arms fire, but nearly any type of explosion nearby shatters them. In the WW2 era, it was not uncommon for heavily fortified positions to fill the “sandbags” with concrete, rather than sand, thus making them much more resistant to explosive blast, fragmentation, and even some heavier weaponry.
I’m not saying make them impossible to break by any means, TNT, close hits with aircraft bombs will still break them. Considering they would require an engineer SQUAD to place, I don’t think you would see as many of them as you do standard sandbags.

Tank traps actually aren’t immune to all damage. Especially on soil (creating a crater below them will actually break the structure. This is easily achieved by HE shells from tanks.) They can also we wiped out by aircraft bombs, and I’ve even seen them taken out by artillery fire.
So no, they are not invincible.
But why do you think so many people use them indoors? Because nothing else really holds up to much force.

If engineer squads got stronger fortifications as their special, I would be completely behind making tank traps unplaceable indoors.

While we do already have TNT charges, a bangalore torpedo would function a little differently, as it could be built from the edge of a trench, and could reach a bit further than TNT.

As far as an armored rally goes, that is why your engineers on other squads are able to build sandbags. You can set them up around a rally or at least on the side most likely to take fire, and it can survive pretty decently. In addition, the option to dig down and place it in a trench is usually a pretty good option too. If you are concerned about someone coming around a corner and finding it, you are also able to equip AP mines with all troop types. Use them to defend it.

Then go play COD or something. Use of intelligent tactics is what a lot of us play this game for.

In the places you’d ideally place tank traps, it wouldn’t be on soft soil, but on chokepoints where terrain deformation is off.

And again, unnecessary. The game is not conducive to making giant sand castles that make the objective as difficult to attack as it is to defend. Moreso when they remain as easy to place as they are now, with the supposed added strength.

So… Render TNT charges completely obsolete by adding an even more powerful explosive to already powerful assaulter squads?

That’s an additional 3 seconds every wall, not counting the time it takes to position them, with the added negative that it makes it very obvious where the rally is. Even more time-consuming if you bother to dig a trench for that specific purpose.

The entire point of an armored rally is to do away with the time to reinforce a rally from stray gunfire so that an assaulter squad can maintain aggression.

If you wanted a campy game built more on tactics, I’d like to introduce you to Hell Let Loose, Post Scriptum, ARMA ww2 mods and other games that would promote such gameplay.

Enlisted is already fast-paced, and soldiers being easily killed but also coming in entire squads that serve as extra lives for the player ensure that the action is always fast-paced.
