Soviet-Japanese War

The Soviet-Japanese War (09.08.45-02.09.45) is a unique conflict that is not popularized in popular culture, although in contrast it can offer fans of history, admirers of the exploits of the heroes of the front and rear of the anti-Hitler coalition and us, the players of our favorite game, interesting facts scenarios.

Firstly, back in 1939 there was a border conflict between the Soviet-Mongolian troops and the armed forces of Japan, which broke the determination of the country of the rising sun to enter the war with the USSR in the Far East, which made it possible to transfer forces from this place to the west to defend so much of the socialist world, the third Rome, which is easily the basis of the first campaigns in our game “Battle for Moscow”, the outcome of which was the beginning of the end of the Third Reich. Thus, the border conflict described by Japanese historians, called the second Russian-Japanese War, played one of the decisive roles in the Great Patriotic War and subsequently in the Second World War.

Secondly, this war is interesting for its timing, which can be explained by two factors. The first is that this war was essentially a “blitzkrieg in the Soviet way.”Alexander Mikhailovich Vasilevsky, the undefeated marshal of the Soviet Union, developed a brilliant plan by tactical standards: a full-scale offensive on all fronts:Trans-Baikal, the First and Second Far Eastern; had a lightning character. In just 12 days, the Red Army defeated the enemy troops in Manchuria, which numbered one million people, thereby consolidating this operation as an example of brilliant planning and command of troops. The second factor is no less interesting. The fact is that after the unconditional surrender of Nazi Germany, the threat from the aggressive Asian power, Japan, still hung in the world. Its defeat would put an end to the bloodiest war in history.Three sides fought for it at once.Of course, the Soviet Union together with the Mongolian troops,The United States of America with the support of friendly formations, as well as the guerrilla movement for independence in Japan-occupied China and Korea. All this contributed to the speedy loss of the imperial ambitions of “Pacific” Germany.

Thirdly, there are enough potential locations for maps in the campaign to inspire military gamedevs. The hot Gobi desert, which became the first test in the August storm, the Khingan Mountains with dense forests, the captured Chinese provinces, the territories of the puppet state of Manchukuo, the languishing North of the Korean Peninsula, the islands of the harsh Sea of Okhotsk, the long-awaited southern part of Sakhalin, transferred to Japan under the terms of the Portsmouth Treaty, the Kuril Ridge, an inseparable member of the brotherhood of the Ring of Fire.

As a result, I would like to describe my proposal for the game in a thesis:new campaign “Battle for the Far East”; new class “Scout”(Saboteur **), which will become the most mobile non-mechanized unit, giving more stable in time of action and detailed information about the situation on the battlefield, disrupting enemy plans, equipped with light weapons; detachments of Chinese and Korean guerrillas; special mounted detachments of Mongolia.

I hope that this proposal will not go unnoticed and will find a response in the fighting hearts of this wonderful community and the dexterous hands of the developers of this project.

what do you mean light weapons, SMG like the assaulter, shotgun like said, pistols, like everyone, rifles like the rifleman, as for intel pair that with mortars or artillery and well game over, disrupt well how, and how would you tell its a scout, radio men have a back pack, assaulters and machinegun men have there given weapons, as do flame throwers, it would be fun to see Japan fight Russia though

what if a scout could reveal enemy constructs longer then when seen by a normal soldier, or maybe even give the binoculars more purpose then they have now,

maybe show the health of enemy soldiers and vehicles, maybe an arrow that points in the direction of spawn point beacons

as for weapons for the scout, carbines between a rifle and a smg in terms of damage range and fire power, give it a burst and bam new weapon take existing rifles and make a cut down carbine, asl a double barrel coachgun instead of a pistol

or maybe something with a flaregun…

in fact the flare gun I suggested it already for plane players here

This is biggest propaganda for USSR in a while now.

Steamroll for two weeks or so… not really unique or interesting beyond the strategic value.

So yay another Soviet botfarm?
Because this feels like its only cool to play Commie.

Japan is Hitler?
And you know the Soviets declared war to Japan in 1945 during WW2?

Around 600k

Really brilliant. Defeating a exhausted enemy with equipment from WW1 on open fields… really brillant. Might be first time Soviets didnt lose twice as much ressources as the enemies.

“Help”

  • China basically fought for seven or eight years or so and lost millions of people…
  • US destroyed Japenese Navy and bombed main isles and supplied China and UK (and USSR)
  • USSR: Fought one little border conflict and wrecked 600k poorly equiped Japs with 1.5 soldier by the last weeks of WW2…
Clearly, the others only get assists.

Cant wait to face IS2s with Ha-Gos in Manchurian shithole map.

Man, why are you so salty about someones suggestion, who are you defending with this??

Everyone who doesn’t gives crap about glorious Soviet Russia (or any faction’s real-life counterparts) and just wants to play a WW2 game… and doesn’t want to kill IS2 with Ha-Gos.

Really, you can just write normal campaign suggestions without writing about glorious Motherland killing everyone… and this whole thing would be probably 50% shorter anyway.

anyone who thinks this is a good idea is likely a soviet fanboy/main.

its gonna be a curb stomp seeing japan didnt field ANY modern equipment into china and Manchukuo. like what do you think japan is gonna get thats gonna be on par with the soviets with the late t-34-85s, or is1s/is2s. heck i dont even think the japanese army air was even in china any more.

like its fine if you want a soviet vs japan campaign, but dont choose the most broken and one sided version you can get, because for some reason everyone forget the border clashes from 1932 to 1939. in fact thats very likely to be the only way to balance things out, seeing atleast japanese tanks were good at the time.

Japan didn’t significantly field half the things they already have on their campaign, it wouldn’t hurt literally anyone if Soviet early equipment would be matched against Japan once the merge occurs.

Your argument is pretty fucking weird and ignores the reality of the game.

Hey, commie here, I failed to see where he put this take you’re complaining about, I saw him pointing several different things that would be a reason for having some Soviet-Japanese maps on the game, your answer was way over the top.

Half of the equipment of the Soviet army in Manchuria was the BT-7 and T-26, which were not more advanced than the Japanese.
Moreover, the development team always creates some blueprint weapons and vehicles for weak countries. According to your statement, how could the defenders of Berlin have planes and so many tanks? How could there be so many FG42?

Yes, this is undoubtedly ‘politically incorrect’, although the post did not mention any ideological issues.

Because you are commie and thats normal way to describe glorious Soviet Russia I think.

But hey, I am saying to someone named communistha and a Soviet main so the joke’s on me I guess.

Sorry that I just want neutral proposals because people might also want to play Japan… you know… the not so gloious Soviet Russia, defender of Red Rome, holy saint of WW2 and the breeder of “brilliant” super-generals.

You can make propaganda without ideology by overpraising Soviet military leadership and influence.

Same goes to other side…
E.g. Spanish Civil War which I would like but have better things to do than reading someone fapping to the “brilliant” German generals who “single-handely won the Civil War” for Franco, the great defender against Hispanic commie threat.
Or overglorify Normandy and Burgerland because he watched Private Ryan and Fury too often and believes in FreedomTM.
This all makes it political because how should someone feel to play the other side if one side is glorified and the other… at least barely gets mentioned beyond "Glorious party A defeats bad party B).
And this is begging for discussions because at the end, its always Russia reason why a couple of people want Machuria, even if the balance and length ressons speak against it, because who cares about another Soviet botfarm?

Looking at the performance of Soviet tanks vs most German tanks in this game (which are technically superior to Japs)… yeah dont know why people never liked the idea to fight against T-34-85s and IS-2s with shitty wannabe T-34 Jap-protos.
Heck, look at what two M2HBs can cause in Pacific against Jap tanks.

And? IS2 and T-34s were there there as well so what the hell do you want now, man? Numbers dont care in the game.

There weren’t any IS tanks in Asia. There was like only one railroad leading to east. Not really worth to transport heavy tanks there. Especially since west countries weren’t trusted, being way more bigger threat than dying empire which would lose without Soviet intervention anyway.
And even old BT tanks were used during invasion of Manchuria (good opponent for low br Japanese tanks). And the best thing there was t-34/85.

Soviet vs Japanese are needed in enlisted. It would create more variety for both Japanese/Soviet factions, they wouldn’t face the same opponent over and over again.

Plus it’s highly probable Japanese will never have top BR stuff, meaning they wouldn’t be able to face drum ppsh, is2 and so on nevertheless. Pacific will be locked just to late mid tier at best.

Fair. My bad. Were ISUs.
Point still stands though a bit weaker.

So people definitly wont touch Japan because they dont want to play against 45mm cannons with a Ha-Go or face T-34-85s with crappy wannabe 75mm ripoffs and no auto rifle unless devs decide to give them bought StGs.

Rn Japs wont face full US so I doubt USSR makes sense.

Not like their low and mid tier is that amazing. And you can debate wheter their current high win rates is based on people just want to grind them before the merge.

It all depends on how BR system will look like.
All BT tanks are trash, especially since Japanese has best AT rifle in game. It would be completely shredding those tanks.
Comparison tank vs tank only really isn’t good thing to do.
Vehicles really aren’t the most influential squads in Pacific. And I don’t think it introduction of Soviets vs Japanese scenario would change it a lot.

Plus I am not really well knowledgeable about Japanese prototype vehicles (for example I have never heard about Ta-Se until I saw it in enlisted), but since all Japanese factions is already filled with rare and prototype things, I am pretty sure they would be able come up with good counter against T-34/85.
Or they could simple buff suicide stick so it would be able to efficiently destroy any tank. If this weapon would be reliable enough, It could creates very enjoyable asymmetrical scenarios.

I think this scenario would be just beneficial for the game. And I think there’s definitely big potential in soviet vs japanese concept.
Definitely more realistic to implement (especially with merge in mind) than invasion of French, invasion of Poland and early war campaigns like that.

It can be always trashier.
Ha Go for example… 45mm at least can pen most German tanks frontally and has an MG.
Jap tanks in general have this MG flaw and Ha Gos cannon is trashier and so most of the current tanks excluding the event and premium tank and the TD.
While T-26s are slow, BT-7 at least in theory are quite fast tanks.

Which is why they nerfed the M13 I guess… because it has low impact.

Because they would get blown up by them though to be fair the 20mm ATR would probably do the tanks job anyway.

Pretty much all Tier III Jap tanks in WT which are not US tanks have worse br than the T-34-85.

Which never worked in Enlisted.

Because the French have actual useable tanks or what?

Because they are more balanced or what?

How did they nerf it? I am not aware of any nerf.

Because of lack any mid BR content, and purely low BR content really isn’t worth it to make. Everyone would get everything in few hours and never touch it again. Selling any premium stuff would be pointless.
There’s literally no meaningful potential in low BR stuff after merge.

Nobody is using Ha-Go even currently. Stop using that one particular tank as whole argument while would whole concept sucks.
Plus Ha-Go would be most likely on them same BR as T-60, not BT.
I could say that char B1 is over powered in comparison to short barreled pz III too, so it’s impossible to implement invasion of France. :man_shrugging:

I think this would do the job.

Overheats way quicker now compared to release times. But then I dont know if the fact they also made it harder to blow up is also a buff and makes it equal.

Japans “mid” br is full of MP28s and proto stuff. I dont think that France will be that harder but then itd just me again.

But the question is, what will beginners face with it during the start, given that the Ta-Se is the starter, at leadt according to the new tech tree iirc.
And also, what is worth to put against a BT7 in Jap tech tree which is fair for both sides?

Well. Yes and no.
Yes, because the gun is nice and armor is fine at the front. No, because its a slow ass td.
I think only real way is to buff tanks as you said (mostly turn rates and speed and reload time).

I think best would be Mongolian borders as there were mostly armored cars iirc but then WT doesnt have their models yet.

Lol why are you afraid of a single BT7? It is just a paper armor tank with a 45mm gun. Even Ha-Go can pen it without problem. It is a fast tank didn’t have much advantage considering the map design and the grey zone.

You didn’t even need a Ho-ri to counter T-34-85. A Chi Ri or Chi To can get the job done already.

Which is good enough to pen most Panzer IVs and the StuG and has decent post pen dmg.
And it has an MG you can use with the gunner and is not on the hull.

And at best kill one crew members while the 45mm will insta blow it up.

Plus better gun pluss MG.
Whats the secret gag of early Japenese tanks again? That they are so pathetic that enemy has mercy with them.

Also overall worse.
