this is just small set of experiments that i made regarding xp. with more controlled experiments we could probably get whole xp formula, but i simply dont have time nor do i want to desert so many matches just to discover it.
overall discoveries:
deaths give xp (screenshots 1-3). you dont have to do anything in the game and you will earn xp just by being useless.
longer time spent in battle gives you multiplier to your squad xp (difference between first 2 ss and 3rd ss. )
more soldiers in squad give you more xp (compare first 3 ss vs 4th ss)
questionable observations:
you dont get xp for actions unless you die? or it is most probably just refresh xp calculations on death or on end game.
Also more score with single soldier or squad means worse conversion to xp.
100 score can give 500 xp
1000 score can give 1000 xp
It’s better to have decent score with all squad than amazing with one.
So premium not only helps with 2x bonus, but also more squad slots which mean more easy xp.
The XP formula is probably a model of diminishing marginal utility.
Based on my test and conclusion .On the premise that a single team survives, about 300 scores convert 283XP per minute.
After that get more scores, it’s hard to get more XP.
i agree with this. there is some diminishing return formula, just idk if it is tied to time or it is tied to repeating one action over some limit. e.g. first 10 kills can give you xp as full score, next 10 kills will give you xp as 75% of score, next 10 kills 50% of score etc.
to get exact formula best thing is to isolate every variable that affects calculation. first variable is effect of time on xp calculation. this can be easily isolated by few matches with 0 actions and 0 kills and different survival times before death (with same squad).
after you have time variable it should be easier to get points per repeated actions.
there is absolutely diminishing returns with XP for squads and the only way I’ve seen to overcome it is to have more squads. In this respect, the player with more squads and soldiers available absolutely has an unfair native XP gain advantage to someone who does not have extra squads and fewer soldiers. If someone is a 4 slot player with premium racking up 25-40K scores consistently (after all calculations) please share.
What lovely forbidden knowledge you are discovering keep up the good works even though the devs probably don’t approve of what we’re doing analyzing everything
Not really secret… Sure that isn’t advertised, but XP softcap per single “life” has been found out long ago. Discussions about it in the forum aren’t even censored.
It’s mostly new(ish) players who are unaware of that.
It’s yet another deliberate choice by the Devs in order to disincentive cautious playing and encourage charging and high turnover among squads. Along with higher rewards for actions near cap points and little to no punishment for deaths.
After all, the game explicitly makes “meat grinding” and mass slaughter its distinctive marks. It would be counterproductive for Devs to reward staying alive.
no. game still has too many problems that may warrant desertion. e.g. shit maps, shit modes, bot teams, one team full of console players vs pc players, stack roflstomps etc.
when they resolve most of those problems we can talk about desertion punishment.
None of the reasons you listed are a problem.
I mean, it is, but invented by weak players.
If someone is weak in pride and afraid of failure, he or she deserts.
But deserting is worse than losing, because deserting is a dishonor.
i have enough pride to value my time and fun and not be in shit matches.
why should i play bad map or mode? why should i play in team full of bots/console players vs full team of pc players or vice versa? those are most boring matches no matter what team you are. even playing with or against stacks can be shit experience cause they will either kill you or steal your kills.
There is no bad map. There are bad tactics. Having fun is a subjective feeling.
Weak players enjoy bot shooting, good players don’t mind 1 vs 10 combat.
Personally, I don’t mind a 1 vs 10 fight because I’ll make a good result. Rank doesn’t matter in this game.
If someone has a major, they either play in a team or only play bots.
Playing allies in Tunisia is so boring. I’d rather be on the other side.
In general, when I play solo, it’s always with the “any side” option.
