well, i tried out new heavy mg’s, and its a killer, i wiped out half a team easily, then got killed…
such a weapon would probably be unfun to fight against, since its dumbly hard to kill its operator (yeah, there were many shots richocething off my iron), so here is my suggestion:
heavy machineguns should be changed to something that would look somewhat closer to this:
their firing angle, both horizontal and vertical should be increased. Thats what heavy machineguns should be; powerful, but vulnerable to fire, since now its user would stand instead of duck behind bunch of boxes.
They already are vulnerable to enemy fire, thought. The lil decorated sandbags go waist high.
I see that as an opportunity to re introduce the sniper guy as someone useful, with his REAL historical role.
He’s the one who took those mg emplacements servants down, quite easily too. I already see some players doing so, even easier than it used to vs shield AA.
Ofc if it’s just brain dead players rushing forward and ignoring cover…
My philosophy is not to nerf stuff due to a portion of players being stupid, but to reinforce good behavior and smart thinking instead.
In short: that dedicated sniper slot in many squads now is suddenly much more attractive…
The sandbags/boxes that they sit on are practically indestructible. I was shooting at one with both 37 and 75mm HE, and it was doing nothing. I had to MG the gunner to actually stop him.
My group fought against you in Tunisia. You blasted a couple of our HMG turrets no problem. Perhaps the one you were shooting at that you had trouble with you were missing?
Either way, we tested them quite a bit last night and they don’t seem terribly OP. You can’t really put additional sandbags in front of them either as they will break them. A well placed tank round, field gun round, explosive pack, enemy HMG, or artillery will wipe them out with ease. Not to mention a good old sniper rifle.
I even have a thread where I suggested replacing overheating with actual reloading where I think this is more satisfying than waiting for the gun to cooldown that is stupid. Replace stationary MG's overheating with actual reloading
