I am honestly tempted to get the Tempest mkV, but I heard that its 20mm’s are worthless. In testing, it can shoot down balloons in maybe 10 hits, which albeit is bad, but passable. It also gets an actual bomb load so you don’t have to worry about having to either crash or land after swatting one or two aircraft.
I also heard that the bf109 g-6 used to have a 250 kg bomb, which would make it something worth getting, but it sounds like they removed it without offering a refund? Meaning, they will probably do the same to the Tempest if they make the guns usable. I don’t quite see the point in getting it as it is just a premium variant of what you can unlock.
Lastly, bf-109 g10. No bombs and no idea when the autocannons are going to be usable against ground targets. I tried destroying target stands in the training room and you nearly have to hit them directly to destroy the targets. Meaning that the plane is almost purely for shooting down aircraft as the 30mm really don’t do anything to armor either it seems.
So in summary, fighters aught to be unique and have bombs. Or, fighters become a “power up” that have no bombs and are purely just to shoot down attackers. What is the point of taking out a fighter with no means to help out the team once the opponents planes crash? I guess it could be like warthunders arcade mode in that regard.
Some of them are not worth spending money on unless you have an emotional attachment to the equipment or are a lunatic “completionist”/“collector” IMO -
M50 Reising is a bad SMG in game terms - don’t waste money on it.
115 inf with M3 with Field modification, Pz IVJ with extra armor, and 2 x 109’s are not sufficiently better than the standard versions to be worth actual money either IMO
I bought tempest because it’s just a bad ass looking plane and I thought the 4 20s would shred enemy air. Boy I was wrong on that weapon platform. Now I’m hoping one day they will fix it. Until then it’s going to collect dust in my hanger. Just glad I didn’t pay full 5k gold for it
Actually you know its funny. I remember years ago in Warthunder 20mm cannons (except German) were absolute trash and infamous for “sparking” (appearing to hit but do no damage). Hispanos were among the worst offenders.
I wonder, if since Enlisted is old Warthunder engine…we are just reliving that…
but if they ever get around to updating to current warthunder engine/damage model. Tempest will be beast mode.
(again, Im saying all this without having taken my brand new Tempest out for a spin yet)
Yup. Its the only Fighter plane I bother with in Warthunder (Brits), It does everything amazingly.
On another note, I used these discounts to build my British deck, tempest, firefly etc. Churchill worth it? While I like the Churchill in Warthunder, I’m not sure its worth it in enlisted? Have you (or anyone used it)?
Ill probably wait for Matilda sale for my heavy tank slot.
Honestly, I would stay away from buying any premium fighters, even if they’re on sale. There’s just none in Normandy that are any better than what you can get in the campaign. If you’re going to buy a premium squad I would suggest an infantry of tank squad.
Side note, I see the UD M42 squad is being removed? Will the M42 being in the tech tree? Really cool if that is the case.
Unless I’m missing something (Im not at home so I cant see premium campaign list), the only standard fighters are P51 C10 and P-38. They are good planes, but as fighters none of those are better than a Tempest (at air to air OR striking). Also they would be a differennt BR/powerlevel (Need to confirm Tempest is fighter slot, i thought i checked that when i bought)
Funnily enough the best Fighter planes are Attacker Planes, P-47 etc etc.
IMO worth to have Tempest (fighter slot that can strike) and P-47 (attacker)
I don’t know after Enlisted becomes warthunder mod and BR decides stuff… But as of now, In Normandy, it’s not worth it as it’s just mkIII. Poor armour, just ok gun, real slow.
Eh, yes and no. It’s definitely nice to have 20mm cannons, but the P38 still has its one 20.
But the real selling point is its rockets and superior anti tank capabilities. It’s the best way to accurately take out those pesky hill-camping tigers.
The P51 is really good too, and it also has 500lb bombs. While technically the tempest is better than the P51, it’s not enough to justify the price tag in my mind.
Yeah that’s the funny thing, the P47 is really all you need. 10 rockets filled with nothing but pure freedom and a 500lb to harass the ground while being able to dogfight effectively at the same time. Basically negates the advantages of the P51, P38, and the tempest.
Which sucks honestly. I wish there was more decision making within the game instead of picking the best weapons and just spamming them.
yeah that’s fair. Its also preference. I was more meaning That when It comes down to it, In the role of a “Fighter”, Tempest has the upper Hand on both of those planes by quite a margin (performance, speed and firepower).
Not that the others aren’t perfectly capable
True, But its nice to have a capable fighter slot as well, with strike capacity incase you cant get your hands on the more popular attacker slot
That’s a good point that I should have mentioned. If you like it, get it. I was speaking more in gameplay terms since that’s what the post was asking for.
For example, I bought the Tunisia P40 a while back because I freakin love P40s. Gave it the shark mouth and flying tiger emblem and everything. It’s good, sure, but not better than anything in the campaign tree. But it feels great to use, can’t wait to take it to the pacific too.
