Snipers currently are the most mhe! Class of the game, situational at best and even not necessary for long range sniping because there aren’t most map where you can snipe from a very distant place, in most of them the distance is sufficient for use any non scoped gun for the job… So let’s try give them some flavour
First they need an unique construction and for this I propose a:
smoke launcher
similar to the engineer ampule instead of fire incendiary granade it fire smoke Granade, less powerful than mortar one but still useful if spammed
Second they need an unique soldier ability so I propose to add in the mine slot a:
flare gun
the flare gun would call a recon plane, this recon plane is going to do 3 passagge on the enemy and at each passage it show enemy position for 2s, the enemy can counter the spotting by shooting down the plane, after the 3 passagge are ended or the plane is shot down the team need wait 3 minute for call it again
Third they need a funny addition, I suggest:
Headshot mark on the gun
on the sniper rifle used by your sniper, at every headshot a small mark appear on the gun, and once the soldier die the marks disappear
US and Japan don’t have it. Neither should Germany tbh but whatever.
And I don’t know if it had smoke rounds.
On a sidenote, it may be good opportunity to add bazooka with WP round.
Also I’ll repeat my argument:
I don’t see why flare should call a plane and not the radio. Maybe make a squad specyfic radio call for recon squad? I don’t know if it’s possible.
USA can use soviet one as some form of poetical justice (Thompson, bazooka, half-track ecc…) and Japanese German one captured from Chinese or lend leased by german
let them build stationary anti material rifles; basically heavy, high penetrating sniper rifles.
to separate them from other structures make them only semi auto but give them high precision, high penetration & different shell types.
regarding abilities they should let targets stay marked longer than marking by other classes, which is a good feature basically all games have for snipers.
also something like sniper IV class (same for other classes by giving them 1 higher tier except for assaulters) would be nice. giving the last stage +3 green will incentivize people to be more mobile instead of just camping. I’d gladly use a sniper that has great weapon handling skills but also lots of green for fast sprinting + utility in order to flank & push enemies backwards quickly.
EDIT: ALSO HIGH QUALITY CAMO UNIFORMS!!! snipers 100% need them, but dont get any.
Normally I would say that would be a great thing, if not for the fact that everyone that you snipe and kill immediately know where you are since you turn red. However, camo net would still be cool, at least to give you cover till you start sniping.
Sniper is the only class that can mark tanks with a moving marker.
Snipers can get an expensive perk that removes their red mark from the killcam.
Snipers gets XP rewards for marks. In the case of infantry marks, the mark has to be close to enemy inf and in the case of tanks, they get the xp additionally to the assist if the tank is destroyed. To prevent exploits, there is a cooldown of five seconds before you can earn xp again with marks.
I really like to add the function of setting up human shp decoys for snipers.
But in our game, there are very few efficient and capable sniper players.
In contrast, the most rampant in the game are invalid/inefficient/worthless/non-contributory snipers.
Among them, there are even people who use pistols to try to accurately launch air strikes 200 meters away, which is unreasonable.
In a 20-30 minute game, they only have less than 60 kills and less than 2000 combat scores. They waste artillery fire, build ammunition boxes and sandbags for themselves, and then boast about their engineering scores.
In the upcoming version, they will stay in the opponent’s black zone more deliberately.
Instead of entering or preventing the opponent from entering the strategic point in time.
