Sniper rework

I would prioritize having AI soldiers standing on the edge of a slightly protected strategic point, or in a key position to play a greater role. Rather than standing in the window as bait.
Even if I am deliberately doing a bolt-action rifle mission and using a bolt-action sniper.

This is stupid. The rest is fine

  • Headshot mark on the gun

on the sniper rifle used by your sniper, at every headshot a small mark appear on the gun, and once the soldier die the marks disappear

This I can’t get behind kind of suggestion for the sniper class.

Reason being if this comes into the game it should be a late tree perk, and by the time you get enough points as the sniper you should know how to get headshots on people with pretty good accuracy even at long range and weird off angles.

I also don’t think the realism of WW2 in this game should have nonrealistic abilities like this. Veteran snipers from back then didn’t have special scope technology that allowed them to see when to pull the trigger for a headshot.

That being said I propose this instead:

The Germans had an experimental infrared scopes called Zielgerät 1229 Vampir which allowed snipers and Panzergrenadiere to see near infrared light when aiming through this special scope. The researchers noted that standing and moving men could be discerned up to 73 metres (80 yd) however it was too cumbersome for practical use by common Wehrmacht soldiers as it required a battery box that was strapped to your back and power cable that attached to the box for power to the scope. 310 of these scopes were produces and fitted onto the STG 44 and it was deployed for combat in February 1945 on the Eastern Front.

I propose that this scope be a late perk tree unlock for the sniper class. The above soldier is a British soldier, so the allies did have their hands on this technology all be at from a grizzlier form, but this example can be used to explain why both sides have these scopes.

You can slow down the running speed of the sniper like what happens when you try to run with AT rifles and give the sniper a primitive version of a thermal scope so maps that have a lot of vegetation and debris can be more manageable for snipers.

If it had the white indicator for being hit and lasted a few shots…i could see it being a distraction in a window. Could confuse the odd player

its a rushing game.

i think snipers are mostly fine as they are.

they can be devastating in lone fighter mod.

but i like the recon plane idea.

Yeah, but while they are rushing, they are more likely to misidentify and engage wrong target :smile:

The hit indicator “could” confuse, and keep firing :smile:

love the idea with the flare gun

how about - a headshot makes the enemy not get a “kill cam” and will not be displayed in the kill feed

while suppressed weapons always stay hidden.
