Guerrilla squads in BR5 are limited to low-damage SMGs, making them no threat against squads wielding automatic/assault rifles. They lack specialist troops, have mediocre flanking speed, and most critically – with only 5 members, the entire squad often gets wiped during flanking attempts. Their short command range also prevents AI from holding position while the player flanks. Giving them assault rifles wouldn’t break game balance.
Absolutely correct. A guerrilla squad with only a 5-man team is highly vulnerable to AOE damage and casualties. Since motorcycle troops can carry assault rifles, why can’t guerrillas? Guerrilla units should be given more weapon options.
Mediocre flanking skills? Along with Infantry II these guys get to be the fastest mfs in the game, guerrillas don’t need any buffs they serve their purpose perfectly fine, if anything they could use some smoke granades slots for free or something like that, they don’t need to have the best weapons of the game, that literally defeats the purpose of guerrillas, that were not equiped with the best things that the army had to offer, but the things they did had at hand reach.
Smoke grenades are the dumbest thing in this game. Throwing one is basically like sending up a flare or an airstrike marker—it just tells the enemy, 'Here I am!
His stamina depletes too quickly, so he can’t sustain a sprint for long, and he still has to pause for a few seconds to drink water.
I mean, I guess if you do drop them at your feet instead of the an enemy position? but why would you do such a thing if you want to cut the distance to make use of your CQC capabilities? Regardless, they may not be the best thing but still it would be better to have them than not having anything?
Enemies can track your soldiers by following the trajectory of your thrown smoke grenades—not to mention pilots who only need a rough location to drop a 250kg bomb.
Guerillas should be able to use semi auto rifles and assault rifles
I mean, yeah it is kinda the same for every other squad, you guys may want to take a look at paratroopers, they can land behind enemy lines, they get to choose weapons, and they don’t have to use smoke grenades that do give away their position?
Airborne troops? You must be joking—those six mushroom-canopies got turned into Swiss cheese before they even landed. Not to mention the deafening noise from the transport planes and those glaring red markers

Also, just a heads-up—the new DLC’s silenced guerrilla squad can also equip assault rifles and automatic rifles.
Automatic rifles are way too overpowered — assault rifles would be acceptable. Besides, automatic rifles only have 120 rounds of ammo capacity anyway.
With only 5 soldiers, it is destined that it will not become the main squad.

Also partisans don’t need ars, and tbh, Assault rifles are overrated.
Automatic rifles are only counted as semi-auto rifles because of arbitrary game rules. I say they should be in their own classification all together

Guerrillas are already strong enough. Plus them not being able to use ARs justifies existence of BR5 smgs.
BR5 smgs are totally usuable. Only minmaxers are insecure about not being able to use top meta weapons.
They need ability to carry ARs and semi autos. Since we now have premium and event squad that have this ability there are no reason to not give it to free squads.
Yeah, so let’s give all engineers ability to use ARs and MGs.
Since there are already event squads that do allow that.
