well yes… i had games where our team lost cause i went to build rally point 40m behind. just getting overrun while it took me 15-20 seconds to build rally point. if i was on point there was over 70% chance that i would manage to repel enemy push. if i was building trenches that would mean that i was out of the cap 2-3 minutes till i dug out trench from rally point till cap zone. depending on the team sometimes you can do that and sometimes you just cant. higher the skill level of player, more they are needed at cap and not digging trenches.
so yeah trenches can be useful in certain scenarios, but cause of high pace of the game veterans/high skilled players just cant be bothered with them. they just take out too much time to make while they can make bigger difference by taking out enemy.
Yes you are correct about all this, and I have experienced the same as you’ve described.
The only thing I want to add, is that the problem isn’t necessarily taking valuable time to dig some dirt, but rather it’s a situation where the team is likely composed of A.I. squads and/or newer players who are not fighting near the objective.
In which case, taking the time to dig a hole for a rally point, is not an effective strategy. Nor is using the engineer for any matter other than fighting at the front lines.
Sometimes the team composition is completely aweful and many features and strategies are useless/inneffective.
But other times, when the team is composed of competent players, then there’s a little more flexibility to get creative with defenses and the shovel.
All I can say is read the thread from beginning to end, and observe how the conversation has escalated between you and I.
You can do this for any of the threads/topics that we’ve engaged with each other.
My initial response to your first message on this post, was not hostile or negative.
Just look at the progression, and observe how we continue arriving to these pissing matches.
Where do they begin?
And you can observe many similarities in our other conversations from previous days/weeks.
wait, melee attack speed increased shoveling speed!?
thank you for sharing that information!
Shovels save the day
yes it does!
I recommend using this perk for all of your soldiers, who you have shovels equipped.
i think for now i’ll do the opposite instead for now. slap a shovel on all soldiers who have that perk.
just remember which order/and soldier has the perk (for each squad equipped).
That way when you’re in a match, you can quickly remember to switch to those soldiers whenever you’re about to dig something. You’ll save ALOT of time. Especially when it comes to digging trenches and holes for rally points.
huh, that’s a thing to note.
… wait, why can’t the radial menu to switch soldier show the gear a unit is equipping. it’s not like they already fuck it up with putting squad formation and habit there.
You can literally deny tanks from entire portions of the map if you dig trenches in the right areas
