devs will have to merg campaigns to theatres at some point. but also have to maintain historical(ish) feeling. Darkflow absolutely stated that grind is here to stay. system can be like this:
factions based like WT
lets say you choose germany. first level game gives you multiple sniper, infantry and land vehicle squads.
You will have at least 3 if not 4 squads for each squad type. 3 sniper 3 infantry 3 vehcile and this will go like this. When you unlock a new squad lets say smg, you will unlock 3 smg squads.
One is for north africa, one is for western front, one is for east.(i am not sure devs will seperate italy as different or just merge it to general western front)
When you select the western front maps, game will restrict player with play only with west smg squad
So with this, we wont see an aramaguera equiped afrikakorps infantryman with summer uniforms in leningrad
equipping weapons will be strictly restricted to soldier class(1-2-3) .
if mg 42 is class 2 weapons and you unlock mg 42, you can give it to every class 2 machinegunners in your ever mg squads but you can use it in 1942 -45 maps.
with this, uniforms weapons and squadnames/symbols historicity can be preserved.
mg class 1 will be able to equiped with breda 30 but not with mg42, class 2-3 mg soldier will be able to equip breda 30 since they are at higher tier on tech progress. think like backward compatiblility
To maintain grind; when you unlock a smg weapon you can take one weapon like current system and give only one smg soldier. With this, we dont have to unlock same weapons multiple times but we have to grind to equip all our smg squads in multiple fronts.
tech system can be like this : lets say you unlocked m2a4 in early levels this tank was invented in 1935 so any newbie player us faction can use it in any front since theoretically you can even use it in battle of bulge or okinawa
But if you unlock tiger 2 for eg. you can not use it in monte cassino or kursk since it was first used in june 1944 normandy but you can play it in berlin, seelow heights, bulge, Battle of Garfagnana
yeah i know some history nerds will say “but m2 never used in bulge/ tiger never used in italy” but according to dates they can theoretically be used so it will not be a total fantasy
3 same vehicles for 3 fronts is not needed and meaningless
