Pay 2 Win is killing the game. You will see players dropping out when they say things like a calliope etc. The vehicle spammers that are jumping from one tank to another while the Free2Play players have to cycle through. Yes those of us that are good enough can contend with the Pay 2 Win squads and Vehicles. The fact that you have weapons and vehicles behind a paywall… It is full cringe. If the Pay 2 win mechanic stays then this game will die (Ill await all the players saying that those squads and vehicles dont add any advantage.)
Lots of people won’t even engage in the discord because they get silenced by moderators and regulars when new players come on and they say something negative about their experience they are shunned and made to feel like crap. Ive been talking to people on so many different platforms that aren’t official discord groups. So many people are saying the same thing. This forum and the discord has turned into an echo chamber.
You only have to look at the engagement rate on this forum. There are less than 200 or so views on posts that have been up a week and 200 views is very high. That shows that the game is not retaining a player base and the community isn’t growing.
idk about p2w squads cause i really didnt notice much difference, but extra slots are much more impactful. also it makes game worse with all the he spam that premium players can make. even fight event showed what happens when you have 20v20 premium players fighting… game was just terrible…
Yeah the premium infantry squads can be outplayed by kitted free squads for sure, but the vehicles and extra slots are for sure the most pay to win part of the game. The rocket tanks though are absolutely pay to win premium and the cost is insane in terms of dividing the players between rich and poor, total disrespect of free players. No small wonder their game is dying and not receiving advertising or development funding anymore, they let Gaijin monetize their game into the ground and somehow thought the players they were ripping off would turn around and support them after running the game into the ground.
The game is far from dying, the fact the calliope is in game, there is the equivalent on axis, both are far from OP.
The game is going from strength to strength, it is a f2p model, but I do think extra slots, are an advantage, but perhaps the devs can allow f2p to earn a slot through gameplay, or certain high level weekly tasks?
But I buy premium because I can, there are a few advantages is PzIV E and heat rounds, but without that Soviets t34 t50 would never get destroyed and people would say Soviet OP.
I will pull my premium vehicles, planes out for either side, so if I’m in game and do so, then take advantage there is a m3Lee in Moscow, Katyusha tank, or pzivE or FW189 on the battlefield, people don’t leave because there is a tank, or plane, people leave if they are losing simple!
Right because they are getting rinsed by premium pay2win players like yourself. I pay for the premium account but refuse to use or buy the premium squads and vehicles because quite simply that destroys the game for those that are new to the game. Yes they leave because they are losing I wouldnt quite my day job to become sherlock holmes if I was you.
Wrong mate, Calliope causing people to leave isn’t because they are losing, neither side is winning or losing in the first 30 seconds of the match, that is when most people are dropping out on Normandy, they see the premium nonsense and spam from the other team and leave right away, doesn’t matter which side or which campaign either, just happened to me and Lomax on Berlin and Tunisia we had the only players on our team complain and leave before they even tried…and yes the game is dying, the fact the discord numbers are down so dramatically and the forum engagement is a joke mostly because they ban discussions like this and any effort to boycott or criticize certain practices has basically led to this company attacking the customers outright and banning them from their games. Gaijin is a pay to win not free to play model, mostly because of the extra slots, but if their game wasn’t dying why would nearly every match be full of bots? Why not expand servers if they are growing? Why not continue to advertise and invest in more development? The past 5 updates have all claimed to fix similar bugs and ALL of those bugs are still in the game…bots over a year later can’t even walk in a straight line and get to the objective, they run into walls or just stand out in the open blankly staring until they get shot. Bots from games developed 20 years ago had more testing and game development and much more time invested into them and they didn’t charge 80 bucks for a single vehicle that couldn’t be unlocked for free either. The game is indeed dying, if it weren’t why would they not release the player metrics and player count if the game is growing how come they haven’t updated that info in over a year? Could it be because of the already proven sunken cost fallacy theory you are willing to gas light this far? Get lost with the wallet warrior gas lighting, they could have made the game monetized in ANY other way besides pay to win, they already had a pay to progress model that was grindy and predatory enough they didn’t need to divide the player base with expensive pay walls for falsely advertised content. And YES, putting the Calliope in their update trailer with free to play all over the trailer without specifying the Calliope ISN’T free to play is false advertising. They are just not located in any country that enforces these laws so they get away with it.
It’s just cycling through new players like amazon through employees, yeah it’s far from dying but it’s not sustainable either.
For 10 new players i would guess 70% will not play after a week/month, on top of that old players take brakes more often as new content is 3 months away.
If this keeps up we will have in 3 years same shit as year ago, with half of match filled with new kids running with springfields getting mowed down by better and better weapons that are further and further away in grind.
I don’t want to keep playing a game where after few years there are still people in Your team that can contribute nothing to victory, at best they can camp and not lose tickets or swarm obcjetive as defenders. And don’t even get me started on bots.
In short: shitty bussiness model relies on constant flow of new players because so many quit all the time. Guess what happens when people stop coming in, and we get more and more campaigns.
The game is not dying (yet) but tgey need to fix lots of things, I agree if you pay in here you get more things than a f2p player and I’m sure that’s why we all buying premium and other things.
Do they should let f2p players get a free slot? Sure
Would it fix everything? Nah, they need to change the campaign level system.
They need to give a 75% exp boost for “any
team” option,
they can give everyone 6 slots instead of 4 and stop making people to buy that,
they can add a match making system or atleast a lock system on the first capture point
Don’t let anyone to get more than 1 assaulter, sniper or any squad that have type 1, 2,3…
And every other useful things that people suggested in here before!
I see players drop matches within the first 100 tickets or first 2 minutes because of the rocket tanks and other premium spam, just saw an engineer squad shoot down a plane and put down a rally and ammo only to immediately die to that same player with another plane because he has premium and can bring who knows how many planes back to back…engineer squad spawned back in and just disappeared from game…looked at the score and saw him and his guest account and 3 other people dropped that same game with 943 tickets left. Widow is just gas lighting as this point, game isn’t dead yet. But it is definitely dying, discord and other engagement metrics show a 90% loss of player count, they didn’t have enough players to keep the lone soldiers mode either, and the pay to win was much worse on that campaign as having stronger single soldiers makes a bigger difference…
I play with f2p players some have no care at all about Stalingrad, no care about premium, in fact I have played with a lot of returning players, I tell them I have a calliope if they want to try it out, they say hell yeh!
You can’t please everyone, but if this game was dead, coz f2p disadvantages, then there would be no f2p players, I do think the vehicle rotation should be addressed by DF Devs, I have heard though it is possible to buy a slot for a campaign for 7dollars and it will stay permanently, not sure how though.
But isn’t it true of all f2p games, they all have financial models like this, even pay to play games can do this… COD for example
Related info, Think it’s $5? Depends on how deep into the snail’s wallet you let yourself go but overall super scummy since you also just get more versatility in your foot soldiers, ignoring the vehicle rotation thing. Being able to bring almost one of everything means you’ll never really have a bad squad for a map even if it means fewer great squads for it. This gets especially icky when you start to get explosive spam squads or Gold vehicles (triple Pz4/BF109 hours, hi moscow), and it lets you bring gold squads without much compromise.
The key thing to remember is, just because you can do this sort of monetization doesn’t mean you should. These sorts of advantages are usually how these games die in the first place, after all. Being able to bring many different reasonably powerful options leads you to being stronger overall than more niche setups. The big saving grace for Enlisted at least are the 0 punishment desertions, so if you do get caught on a bad map/mode then you can just bail out and try for a better one at the small cost of making everyone else on your team in that match that much more miserable since they get to enjoy bots.
I purchased many premium squads and can’t say that I win every match. And I pay to have fun. I like to collect and use special stuff (but I agree it is quite expensive).
New slot for almost 20€ is hefty.
I wondered often how non-premium players perceive the game-play without all the funny stuff. Then I think to myself, you need to love WW2 shooters. As simple as that.
I played War Thunder without premium for the first three years. I did not even care about the grind (I was happy about that much content).
You don’t win because you pay. It might be more fun. Save 50 bucks and get a thing you like if you can.
It’s not mandatory. More slots are an advantage.
P.S. if anyone wants to play for free there is a playground in your neighbourhood for sure.
P.S. 2 Free speech & own opinions are really important. You shouldn’t be silenced for voicing your thoughts. Say what you want, even if nobody agrees.
That’s actually what p2w mean, more slot, soldiers with perks, better tanks and other things. That’s doesn’t matter if you actually win a game or not but we all can agree those advantages are exist snd that what’s p2w mean
