Replace M5A1 Stuart HE shell with Canister shot

My point is that actually the HE sometimes does kill those guys.

after shooting them 3+ times without them moving. The 37mm HE is just that bad.

Yes often - usually even - it is - but sometimes it works. So those few times will disappear if it is replaced by cannister.

Of course being able to kill troops in the open much more easily is almost certain to make up for it!

The M5 has superior rate of fire and ammo quantity, both of which can be pretty important in my experience.

Oh yeah the M5A1 superior fire rate of less than a Second less than the puma, at anti infantry? That won’t help because you need to aim on every enemy separately (0.7 seconds if I remember correctly)

0.8 seconds of higher RoF isn’t exactly “superior”
Puma needs 1 or 2 shots to kill why stuart has to constantly aim for weakspots

Against infantry, puma has a much stronger HE

It’s still an advantage, no matter how you slice it. I do just fine in my M5, both against infantry and Pumas. Yes the latter can mess you up, but if you’ve put yourself in that position, then rightly so.

I think some folks here expect to steamroll the Germans, and are upset when this proves not to be the case.

even some German mains think that puma overperforms

We don’t want to steamroll the axis, it’s not our problem that axis side had stronger weapons during the CBT. At least now some weapons were nerfed

But puma having more advantages over the M5 is not a lie and canister shot won’t hurt anyone

The Puma is powerful, but I’ve killed as many of them as I’ve been killed by them. The alternative is to remove the Puma and give us a Panzer III or IV instead, which I’m quite sure would result in even more tears from the other side!

no the other alternative would be a Pz2L(with HVAP) or Pz2H, both being light tanks pretty similar to the stuart, one being armed with a 20mm, capable of penetrating up to 64mm, the other being armed with the same 50mm as the puma, but with an open rear turret.

Let’s be honest about this, whatever the Germans got would be too good for some of the folks on here, especially in the hands of someone used to playing armoured vehicles.

2H would be about as good as the puma, but worse suspension (meaning bouncier gun) and open turret back.

2L would have inferior firepower.

Both are fine options, tbh.

Or we could just fix the damage models of the existing tanks, and make their mobility more realistic. I would quite like to retain the asymmetrical nature this game was originally going for, before all the whiners started beating their drums.

To me, My biggest Struggle going against the puma is just its speed making it hard to keep track of, especially when my teammates don’t bother tagging it. It’s like tank hide-and-seek.

I think that balances out a bit given that should make it harder for the Puma to keep an element of surprise in some scenarios, as it has to slow down, then traverse to shoot.

However my #2 problem is actually crippling or killing when I hit it. I can get 3 kills in 1 shot, yet it can still drive and shoot. Not sure if it’s the same for Pumas fighting Stuarts.
How many crew members does the game give Pumas? Stuarts get 4.

Game gives them 4 too but the problem is that broken damage model armored cars have

Devs shouldn’t have added armored cars if they don’t know how to develop proper damage models

I introduce the anti-puma-nator

puma is too op hitting its hull does so less damage …also why my det packs does nothing to it

With explosive packs it helps if you “prime” them - hold the throwing animation for a count of 5 or 6 (depending how long you take to count!) then throw - I usually get an insta-kill if I land on or near the Puma doing that.

When shooting with M5 learn to aim for the crew members - easiest way to know where they are is to go to War Thunder and look at an x-ray of the vehicle!! Shooting from the front works too - I’ll get a OHK with the 37 about 50% of the time by penetrating the hull front from direct head on.

And to add to what you have said, if you are able to get the side of a puma, shoot in between the front two wheels. There’s an ammo rack there that likes to explode
