Remove Flinch

The thread should end with remnar’s post.

It shouldn’t. The post offers no new real arguments and is nothing but an appeal to fun for casuals which will make the game even less realistic.

Good. Leave the realism to Post Scriptum and the other Squad off-shoots. Turning this casual semi-realism shooter into something like that would kill the population.

Flinch isn’t realistic in the slightest so gtfo of here with that crutch for SMG players.

So, you don’t think that people flinch when shot ? And you don’t think that a game that specifically sets out to be realistic should be as realistic as possible ?

want mechanic that makes the game less fun for everyone involved
dub it “realism”
call people who don’t want it casuals
Aha

It doesn’t matter if they do or not, it’s not a fun mechanic for a VIDEO GAME. And not it absolutely should not. Realism=/=Fun and Engaging gameplay
It’s asinine just to argue for features that make the game shittier in the name of realism.

Your Idea of fun does not necessarily line up with everyone else’s idea of that. If you don’t want realistic combat, you can play one of the literal thousands of games which don’t have flinch, suppression, or anything similar. people who want to play realistic games however, simply don’t have that much of a choice.

“people who want to play realistic games however, simply don’t have that much of a choice.”
Because it’s a niche genre and not that popular. I could also gurgle back at you that your viewpoint on “unfun realism make game better” doesn’t line up with what the wider majority finds appealing.
Either that or you’re just bad at the game and arguing for flinch to stay in because you need a crutch to get kills.

Like I get what you’re trying to do, but as it is implemented now flinch takes more fun out of the game than it adds anything else be it realism or whatever. Getting winged and jerking forty-five degrees off target is not fun and engaging in the least. You don’t even do it like that in Squad, HLL, or PS, dude. It’s a shit mechanic and should be dialed way back or removed.

Realism makes a realistic game better, as that is what it sets out to do. Appealing to a casual majority doesn’t change that. And even if I was the worst player of this game and would never achieve anything of value in it, that doesn’t change the fact that a realistic game ought to have realistic mechanics to, well, be realistic. I personally feel that I would have a far easier time killing people if it wasn’t for flinch, since most of my deaths are in close combat against people with SMG’s, but I still think the game is better for having these less common mechanics that put it above being just enother CoD clone.

“Let’s add a shit mechanic that even I admit isn’t fun so we’re not a CoD clone”
Well I hope you’re aware that Call of Duty has flinch too, so we are now officially a CoD clone according to your logic.

Nio if I may, there are two sides of the shooting genre community, the causal community and the hardcore community. I agree with the fact that if it is a realistic FPS, it should market as one too. However, if a game tries to appeal to one or the other than basically no one is happy.

I decidedly don’t agree that it isn’t fun. I like it a lot, as it adds a lot of dread and an actual feeling of being fragile instead of being just another Rambo. And not all CoD’s have flinch. And even those that have typically don’t have the sheer amount of in-depth suppression mechanics enlisted has, much less flinch to the same degree as enlisted.

Which begs the question

How the fuck if flinch is a terrible mechanic? Is it the pain wobble or is it the fact that you become immobilized for 3 seconds?

Be fucking specific.

I rest my case.

I do understand that the fact that AI soldiers one shot for like 3 football fields away is horseshit.

I actually don’t know if it would effect console plebs since you guys have aim assist to coddle you in every shooter.
But to explain why it isn’t fun is that SMGs are already strong enough without causing flinch on every hit, yes? With flinch and the relatively low damage of each round you can effectively stunlock people since it throws their aim in a random direction on every hit. Being on the receiving end of that is not fun in the slightest and removes a player’s control over his own soldiers.

Well I do understand that stunlock in this game is pretty strong and you instantly get shredded from an SMG or a MG42 in hidden corners or bushes so I’ll give you that

Nah MGs doing it is fine because they murder you in 1 hit or so. SMGs don’t and that’s what causes the stunlock lmao

Yeah true lol
