Idk why you guys decided to add it in, but it is an anti-fun feature and would be preferable if it was removed. Yes you’d flinch if you got hit realistically, but it does nothing but help remove the ability to retaliate before you go down.
I don´t mind that feature, in fact I´m glad its here and soldiers do not act like full armed and combat ready cylons at the moment somebody shoots at them by something that isn´t explosive.
That feature is kind of what I missed the most on FPS games I played in the past.
And if anything, it forces me to play carefully or be punished for my mistakes, it also takes certain amount of skill and luck to defend yourself when you are wounded, which I kinda like.
My two coppers.
I don’t mind it most of the time, but getting RNG’d out of a kill because I got winged while firing into his chest is awful. I honestly wouldn’t have complained if it wasn’t for getting a scrape and then losing out on the firefight because I jerked my gun eight inches to the side.
My biggest issue with flinching is that in the same patch they also added a perk that negates EDIT: 60% 80% of it
So you are nerfing every soldier of every player unless you have the perk
And guess who has perk slots to slot it jn?
Premium soldiers.
Are you talking about this perk? It’s been there since the CBT started as far as I remember. I think the issue is that Flinch was either outright not in or in but to a greatly diminished extent.
Honestly, I see flinching as a good thing. The more realism in historical games the better as far as I’m concerned.
No, it isn’t fun at all and should be removed. RNG determining whether you live or die like that is awful.
have you tried not getting shot to begin with?
flinch not ver yfun mechanic
people say ‘is realistic’ or ‘try not get shot’ but excessive realism is boring and just slow down gameplay
mechanics like aim punch or ‘suppression’ ala squad/insurgency/postscriptum are not fun
you probably enjoy game more if mechanics not in but when are in you cope by say ‘realism’ and ‘more skill!!!’
get shot
gun goes to space
die
flinch is braindead remove pls
I actively enjoy games which have suppression mechanics more because it means that I don’t have to deal with people charging into Automatic fire and actually succeeding. That’s the real bullshit. And there are enough games out there that don’t have it, so play one of those if you really need another rambo 2 simulator.
It’s not rng to begin with, as it only happens when someone is actively targeting you.
You talk about suppression which is something different entirely. This is just giving whoever manages to land a glancing hit the win in a firefight unless you can jerk your weapon back quickly enough which isn’t possible most of the time. I’m all for suppression, but flinch can go.
And don’t start going on about realism when this is pretty much arcade War Thunder with infantry, dude. Go play Post Scriptum or Hell Let Loose since that is what you’re describing.
I’m playing both of those and I’ve played Red Orchestra 2 back when it was popular. And I have to inform you that none of those games happen to feature AI squads or just in general the huge amount of options for play this game right here is currently promising. As such, none of those games will be able to fill the niche Enlisted currently seems to be going for with very large combined arms battles.
If one of those three games would do that, I wouldn’t be here right now. The goal of enlisted, at least according to what they’ve been saying, is to be a realistic shooter. And in the real world, you’d be doing much more than just flinching when hit with any kind of military munition.
We should be arguing for a realism mode instead of jumping on each other over what amounts to Arcade. RB and SB for Enlisted would be 10/10.
Realism mode should be the base mode. I.e., this game should be what amounts to ‘realistic’ to begin with. Arcade should not be a thing as it needlessly splits the player base while offering an objectively worse experience, and it shouldn’t be a thing in War Thunder either but that’s an entirely different issue.
I like it. It promotes players to not just run and gun . Take some cover and be more tactical. Kinda the happy medium this game is trying to be. I would hate it if while being shot, I myself, or the enemy could just care less and aim perfectly . That is old news in gaming man. A litle challenge is fun. C’mon
I personally think it’s a good mechanic BUT I agree it need some tuning
I personally think people expecting the game to release without perks affecting battle efficiency - should play another game and just leave. Sick and tired of ‘not fair’ argumentations.
The perks are still just dumb.
We could have armor pieces / functional ammo pouches etc that can affect protection, ammo reserves, max inventory size etc, at the cost of weight and speed. But no, we are adding some kind of human mutations to the game. Like cmon, +35% health? Who magically takes 35% more bullets to die?
And however you look at it, it IS unfair for a new player without the perks to face someone with all the good perks. And no, the game won’t have a large enough playerbase to really support matchmaking with all the diffrent campaigns.
But we already had all of these conversations so I guess me and many others will simply leave the game for another game if it ends up getting released with the current progression system.
One good way around this is lying down
Agreed.
- The planes use the realistic flight model but arcade controls but sim 1st person view only
- The tanks use the realistic performance model but again arcade controls but sim gunner sight / first person view only
Both would be greatly improved with realistic controls to be in line with the realistic/sim models/views
Making it dependant on where the enemy is compared to you would help. i.e. if he is straight ahead, the flinch would be straight upwards. If he is to the left, it would be upwards and to the right. Etc. Make it predictable and you turn it into a skill-based mechanic that you can learn to get around.
