Background
The consensus among the Enlisted community is that a “theatre system” would fix a multitude of issues that are prevalent in the current state of the game. I have sat on this for a while and would like to propose a development on the idea.
(This is just my example, feel free to suggest changes.)
The game would be spilt into four (or more) separate major theatres, each with their own research trees (I might cover this in more detail in a separate post). Each theatre would be split into 3 time periods that are represented by major battles. As you grind through these stages; you would unlock new squads, equipment, and maps. More importantly, these stages serve as match-making brackets to prevent unbalanced fights. However, in the case that there is a critically low player-count in a theatre, the match-making bracket opens and brings everyone up to the stage of the highest level player/s (i.e. the match-maker is abolished).
The match-making would be roughly determined by both the quality and quantity of the equipment in your loadout, as well as the squads (for historical accuracy). This, along with a loadout preset option, would allow for veterans to return to earlier stages and let some steam off.
Periodic Campaigns/Operations
To represent as many battles of the war as possible, and to keep the game fresh; there would always be a unique battle going on. In these rotated battles you could make use of your existing equipment in new environments, on top of trying out some unique gear.
Potential Issues
Iconic equipment missing from early stages due to balance reasons (e.g. Tiger I in North Africa)
Compensation for reorganized equipment and purchases (might make a suggestion after looking into possible legal implications)
Feel free to leave feedback on even the smallest details
fixes nothing, introduces more problems. problem with campaign is that it has 6 campaigns when even 3-4 is too much for current playerbase. you are basically proposing to introduce 12+ campaigns with this system and splitting playerbase even further.
what most players want is unified grind in style of warthunder (or something similar) with multi campaign MM.
What if they just made the match making be play both sides by default and cycle through all campaigns like some of the events we’ve had in the past
I personally don’t mind the campaign system the way it is but I think it would settle a few issues. And it would make sure a player is thrown somewhere
With the proposed system, the grind would be reduced to the equivalent of only four campaigns, and the time period stages would only work if there were enough active players, otherwise, the match-maker would be abolished.
This may sound weird but that will defeat the point of the underdog aspect. One of the nice things in this game is that I can still kill high level people really easy. Your effectiveness in this game isn’t determined by your equipment, your skill does. In some cases equipment can hurt your effectiveness cuz it can distract you.
The way the matches are divided by Western and Eastern front, Mediterranean, and Pacific is enjoyable, but the time differences are not the answer. And the equipment based matchmaking is definitely not the answer.
Thanks for citing my post bro, I’m writing a big text here in google translator regarding your post about theaters and research trees, practically an idea to complement your idea, wait at least 1 hour and a half, I’m very detailed
Coff Coff Spam Late Game weapons Coff Coff
I still remember with pride when AVT, MKB42 AND MG42 were banned from red orchestra 2 in competitive matches
I think all the likely future campaigns we’d get would be:
Market Garden
Italy and/or Sicily (idk if they would be separate or single campaign)
North Africa (from early to before American involvement)
Siegfried Line/ push into Germany
Battle of the Bulge (idk if it would be its own separate campaign or lumped into another one)
Blitzkrieg (early Europe, although I think less likely)
The Eastern Front was so much more vast compared to the Western and the operations were constantly shifting between offensives and defensives in various periods, so I don’t know exactly how they’d do future campaigns, because even I think it would be ridiculous to have 50 (I’m exaggerating) Eastern campaigns; but I’m sure somehow they’ll figure it out what’s best
In relation to this, make the player have at least 2 times (or 1 time) a day the chance to play with the faction he wants, after that chance he plays with the random factions according to the theater (or campaign, in case darkflow doesn’t consider the theaters) he chose. Example, if it was campaign-based (as it is currently): the player chooses the moscow campaign and wants to play 2 times (or 1 time) with the Urss faction, the 3rd time he wants to play with the Urss, but plays with the faction of Germany.
If the player assembles a team in his lobby with his friends or acquaintances, he can have the privilege of playing as he pleases with the faction he and his lobby chose, at any time, or 5(6,7,8 etc, the community and developers have to come to an agreement) times a day.
The reason I split them like that is because there has been growing concern over new players having trouble entering the game. While some of us may find such challenges fun, new players might not, especially considering the differences in capabilities between vehicles (e.g. M5A1 vs. Tiger E).
It is also a method for keeping the experience fresh as players level up, I don’t want to lose the diversity that we have now. For example, the atmosphere in Moscow and Berlin is very different, combining them would take away unique experiences.
