Refilling Half-Empty Magazines

Hi, there should be some sort of game mechanics for refilling half-empty magazines to full with ammo. Currently, players firing to nothing half-empty magazines to empty it before interact with “ammo crates” to refill magazines.

At least on interaction to “ammo crates” it should completely fill all magazines.

Thanks.

Definitely agree. It’s annoying since I always have to actually empty my mags by shooting into the air just to get the max ammo

Tbh, i personaly dont see it as problem, im used to empty my magazine from Insurgency as it works same there. I rather shoot to nothing those 4-5 bullets than just reload. But that is my personal opinion.

There could be a button to sort out the ammo on the go like using medkits.

Yeah, I like how ammo in magazines is treated in Enlisted. But here I agree, interaction with ammo crate should fill all of them. It would definetely make it less irritating sometimes.

agree. Ammo crates should just top everything off

No. Why have such a feature in the game in general, if with the click of a button, you will still add all bullets to your magazine? Does it all make sense in any way?

Learn to play differently. Throw out that COD mentality. This feature is one of the many good things that are in the game. You need to be able to use the available ammunition wisely so that you are not sitting with 2 or three bullets, you need to upgrade the soldier so that he can’t carry more ammunition, and you need to know how to play with your engineer to help yourself and your team in strategic places placing ammo crates…

Nobody here is talking about taking that mechanic away. I agree that proper ammo usage is important and you shouldn’t have combined ammount of ammo that always gives you full mag after reload.

The point is filling all the magazines to the full capacity when using an engineer ammo box. I would consider that rather as an quality of life suggestion, because there would be no need to shoot few leftover bullets in the air just to empty those mags. There is no COD mentality in that.

Refilling a magazine like this would take upwards of a full minute. Makes very little sense to do so in actual combat.

I can start the battle with 8/32 rounds for my Garand, yet at 4/12 left the ammo box still yells at me for being full on ammo. No matter how you look at it this needs to be improved. Once/if ammo pickup is implemented I don’t mind having these limits but the ammo box should always load you to your ammo capacity.

This may happen if you got many half or near empty magazines. Empty at least one.

Yes, that is correct, as for some reason the Garand uses a magazine system. But the problem is that I am not full on ammo, I have less than half left, and the ammo box will never fully replenish it. If the ammo box is only willing to refill you if some esoteric circumstances are met then it should be renamed accordingly.

Such a thing would be OP as hell in the capture points, in the style of this game. Defenders could barricade and squat with MG on the ammunition box.

The only solution I see is that such a thing would only be possible at the original spawn point, and you should go back there to be able to replenish all your empty weapons at once. But that would not be a solution either.

Garands can’t be topped up with half clips, as the clip stays inside the gun the entire time.

I understand. My point is, if I can carry 4 clips for the Garand in my fannypack at the start of the game I should be able to grab as many from the ammo box too. Any partially filled clips/magazines/whatever should go back into the box, or just get removed.

Even if they are half empty, they are still 4 clips and they take up the exact same space, due to the nature of the clips, and the pouches are made to fit around these clips.

How long it takes to patch up bullet wound?

Anyway, just an idea of additional mechanic. I wouldn’t really use it very often, even if that would be 10s. The game is too dynamic for better or worse.

I have just returned from battle and wish to refill my ammo. I have 4 half full magazines. I walk over to the ammo box, yeet my 4 half full magazines into the box, and take 4 full ones out. I walk away.

This is all there is to it. The ammo box should not tell me I am full on ammo when I look over to my counter and I can clearly see less than half is left. I don’t mind making ammo refill take a few seconds, but any used magazines you have on you should get swapped with full ones.

Moving the “half empty” issue to the ammo boxes, so next time you take out ammo out of the box you only get half full clips?

I would expect an ammo pile the size of a boulder to have more than just 4 magazines.

There is really no need to complicate such a simple concept. The ammo box should refill you to your ammo capacity, period. How it does that, where does your leftover ammo go doesn’t matter. It’s just a box with a few integers in it. As long as it has ammo left it should not tell you you are full when that is clearly not the case.
