Reduce or remove points for shooting down AI bombers after they dropped their bombs

As much as I appreciate the scoring buffs promoting battlefield options, attacking AI bombers after they dropped their bombs became a bit of an easy way to pad your score/exp without really contributing to the battle.

I propose the removal or reduction of points scored against AI bomber kills after they dropped their bombs.

Time spent attacking pointlessly valuable targets that no longer have an impact to a match instead of doing something more productive with the plane, or with other infantry should be mitigated.

Some bombers are hard to kill like in Pacific, imagine dumping rounds into a bomber only for it to drop bombs then it dies. That would be a punch in the face.

try to shoot down a bomber with only 1000 .50 bullets and a plane who cant go up 400mts alt

And what about in most cases people trying to shoot it down but just won’t make it on time?
they would just change it from at least trying to not to do it at all, how could this be beneficial?
and if you really want it make it different, how about say it like ‘more points for people did stop bomber before they drop bombs’?

Rather make it having impact on next bombardment aka more shot down planes = less planes on next bombing round etc.

Shooting down AI bombers takes more effort than the expected returns.

Airstrikes only inflict large casualties on the opposing team only if they mostly consist of bot players. At best they wipe one wave worth of players attacking or defending an objective.

In most cases, it is rarely feasible to react immediately to an airstrike by immediately spawning in a plane of your own, or by building AA. You’re going to need to drop what you’re doing to spawn in a plane or build an AA emplacement.

Even then, it’s going to take even more time to even shoot down enough planes to make a difference in the already-limited impact they have.

On other possible solutions, I can agree with so long as they are ultimately productive to the team.

By forcing players to stop committing to a pointless endeavour. Time spent on bombers that already dropped their payload is time better spent on something more productive to the team. The new update essentially incentivizes people to this negative act.

You cannot un-bomb dead teammates.

Simplifying every factors here:

I just cannot support ANY suggestion asking to REDUCE xp gain. Not with how long the grind is.

Don’t know, it is just my feeling but shooting down advancing bombers with the AA is easier. Once they dropped the load I recognized that they are way harder to destroy.
Built several AAs with friends and shot them down before and after. The results are completely different.

  1. From my understanding, shooting down the plane even after it has dropped its bombs is beneficial. If I remember correctly, I read that it extends the cooldown time for each plane shot down. So in that case, bringing them down is worth it.

  2. Even laying into them with ground based AA doesn’t kill them quick enough. I’m glad they increased the range at which you can see the lead marker, but I still have to dump 40-60 AA shots into one to kill it. It shouldn’t require the attention of multiple people to counter something that a single player can do so easily. If nothing else, if you cause enough damage it should divert its course to attempt to fly to safety. This would give a reduced amount of points, but still do what it needs to do.

  3. I keep seeing everyone arguing about whether the bomber strikes are effective or not. I would like to note that there is more to it than just kills. Kills may give points directly, but the amount of damage the bombers do is honestly the more important part. They can destroy all fortifications, including Czech Hedgehogs, take down trees, bushes, static vehicles, breakable walls, etc. They are effective for both offense and defense. Obviously the devs see this as they greatly bumped the points incentive for shooting down planes. The problem as I stated is that the bomber runs are still too difficult to deal with in time.

11k score in a 24 min match literally just harassing AI bombers is justified compared to actually pushing the objective?

The game is incentivizing people the wrong way.

Here’s another. For funsies.

  1. If it helps suppress the bomber capabilities, I don’t see an issue.
  2. They appear to have helped plenty. They each have considerable kills, and assists.
  3. Support roles are important too! Just because they aren’t directly on the objective doesn’t mean that they are not helping. They could be thinning enemies out that are approaching the objective, killing tanks and aircraft, hunting down enemy rally points, etc.
  4. I think it’s incentivizing just fine. It appears they cleared the path for the rest of the team, including yourself.
