Question regarding historical inaccuracy

What would you say are some major historical inaccuracies within the game/playerbases mind?
[game balancing mechanics like bad cannons excluded]

A bunch of the firearms, T-34 had a ton of problems (some didn’t come with AP rounds when the first rolled out, they had poor welding meaning that a round didn’t have to pen, but damage it enough that the T-34 would just break at the seams causing immense spalling, the crew could barely get in or out, there were a ton of engine and transmission failures and many more issues.), mgs carried by solders don’t overheat, and big German cats weren’t present on the beaches of D-day (the landing).

  • Bad “cannons” because DF (mostly) intentionally nerfs the performance of shells pen and post pen/ buff armor to make tank fighting less fun and fair. Most notable when German tanks engage T-34s, Sherman 75mm shells which are wrong and underperforming and Soviet tanks in Berlin, especially against the King Tiger. Same applies to the cannons of AA guns because they deal ramdon dmg at this point.
  • Censored symbols.
  • Speed of tanks and planes because DF doesnt like light tanks acting like rl light tanks and because otherwise AA guns would suck even more against planes.
  • Spam of the MP28 and the ZH.
  • Playerbase playing so off that its not only ahistorical, but makes you also question if the main reason why the AI is still useless after 5+ years of development is because they (allegadly) learn from said playerbase.

Oh and weapon jamming.

the major that do affect the gameplay unlike some camouflage in a wrong campaign, ( at least for me )

are fgs ( or any “rare” weapon of the kind ) given like candies and because of it, most of the weapons are either nerfed, or straight up do not work like real life and what not ( even though, i can get behind for balance reasons and what not ) , squad compositions and some prototype weapons being more efficent than counter parts that have been replaced for.

i could say the same on tanks, but at the end of the day, nothing that a tnt or explosive pack can’t handle.

which the same goes for 9 men fgs. but it’s just on another level.

another gameplay breaking unistorical feature is the rally point, ( even though it’s kinda essential )
and paratroopers.

just land in the thick of it with heavy weapons that were supposed to be only picked from the ammo crate it self. otherwise you could have severally injured your self, or temper the weapon to make it unusable.

( despite weapons not being of the 1800s, of being fragile and not safeties, if you would throw a vicker or fg, and those falls on the ground could lead to malfunction )

and last but not least, use artillery tanks like actual tanks.
more of a nitpick of mine, but it’s a bit… off putting.

when it comes to playerbase, most have no actual idea of what historical accuracy / inaccuracy even means.
as we are somewhat fed a blurred picture by mainstream documentaries that depicted certain narratives often distorted or manipulated to paint different pictures.

hence, players simply do not care, or do not really have clue.

which it’s fine. at the end of the day, everyone should be able to play like they want.
but in a game that self advertised to be one, it’s a bit sad what we got. hopefully the equipment selector will play a huge role. but it’s earlier to say.

for the rest, enlisted does more or less a pretty good job.

P.S.
yes, cannons are also bad and a joke.

i could also add not really historical uniforms and some of them goofy looking / straight up invented
or the lack of proper insignas and what not. but those are more of nitpicks and could change at any moment. though, do not affect the gameplay that much.

The character uniforms in general. my personal opinion is that at some point in time they should have a uniform model overhaul but this is obviously not that pressing of a problem unlike bugs and stuff

Probably misunderstood the question but.

Cannons

Abundance of certain weapons

For me it’s how common you see the FG42, I could care less about any other weapon, but knowing that gun was only meant for paratroopers and seeing it as often as I do is probably the only issue that bothers me as a big history nerd.

When dead soldiers stretch 5 meters long, with their heads stuck in the ceiling.

They probably only stretched 4 meters, historically.

what i hate about paratroopers is their ability to jump with pinpoint precision on top of enemy group and survive and thrive. there are numerous examples in ww2 where paratroopers were just massacred when they jumped on top of enemy and idk of any successful paratrooper landing where they jumped on enemy and won (even with pyrrhic victory). you have examples such as battle of crete, battle of dnieper, even Sainte-Mère-Église in normandy was bloodbath

here is clip from the longest day:

paratroopers were unprecise in landings (cause they had non maneuverable parachutes ), they were lightly armed (if armed) on jumps and only survived if they dropped behind enemy lines and not on top of them.

I personally cant really understand the historical accuracy requirements constantly popping out all the time, as much as i cant posibly understand the constant complains about the AI not being smart enough, fast enough, skilled enough, human enough.

dont people understand this is a game, and leeway MUST be given to the developer to make a game? is not a movie, its a game.

for historical accuracy, i require every battle in every map to be fought only once, and the result to be set in stone beforehand. germany CAN NOT win the d day landing and kick the allies back to the ships. stalingrad battle can not be won by german troops. any other result is historical inaccuracy to the maximum. how can the exact milimeters of a bouncing shot on a tank be on the scope, and not the end result of the battle of moscow? how can it be that the recoil pattern of a given gun must be exact to the point of 0,001 degrees, and not a soldier materializing a respawn pont from thin air? gameplay rules MUST trump realism, or make it so that when one of your soldiers die, hes gone for good with all his gear.

same applies to the AI soldiers with you. they are not combat soldiers, they are not good. the AI soldiers in this game are exactly like the minions in league of legends, or the fighter waves on titanfall. they have their use, i love em, but its just background noise on the real combat at hand. they are a resource, NOT an elite force. i was there when the bots one shot sniped you from spawn to spawn with 100% accuracy, and let me tell you, it wasnt fun at all.

sorry for the rant, but it got to my nerves. and FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, please please pretty please, stop asking for any and all modifications, suggestions, non vital bug fixes, and all the parafernalia untill the damn merge is here. cant you guys see you are giving them ammunition to delay it more, and more, and even more? “sorry guys, we really want the merge to come, we have it ready for shipping, but you guys keep asking, so we delay it a couple months more untill we fix the m2 sight not being the exact representation of the real thing”.

please, please, dont give more reasons for delays and then complain for the delays.

thx, sorry for the wall of text.

That is not a bug that is a feature (sarcasm )

No, they probably splattered.

bullshit ass prototype guns and weapons that were completely junk being used as standard issue

Prototype, rare and WW1 guns being over used since they are meta.
Guns not functioning realisticly.
Vehicle combat in general, any random joe shouldn’t be able to destroy a tank with a little explosive.

Weapons and vehicles appearing earlier than they should or being somewhere they shouldn’t is forgivable, we need balance and content after all, but I really hate people who want certain equipment removed from a campaign just because they don’t want to deal with them under the pretence that: “there is no proof of it being used there.” But the same people never complain about his own OP unhistorical gear.

The biggest mistake of games and movies set in the realities of the Second World War is the PzVI Tiger’s impenetrability, and reports from tests, skirmishes and battles show a tank that has an advantage over enemies over the distance. From 300m each 50mm+ cannon penetrated the tiger’s frontal armor.
