Inspired by Ahtary’s insightful post on PvE modes for Enlisted and the ongoing community discussions around Wave Defense and Tower Defense game modes, I find myself aligned with the notion that introducing a beginner-friendly game mode can significantly enhance the gaming experience.
While Ahtary’s suggestion for a Hold the Line mode is commendable, I’d like to present an alternative: the Warsaw Uprising ( Polish Home Army ♔ vs Germany ✙ ) Survival game mode. Departing from the static defense concept, this mode draws inspiration from Insurgency’s Survival mode, aiming to provide players with a dynamic, open-ended, and historically resonant experience.
Key Features of Survival Mode:
- Dynamic Safehouse-to-Safehouse Gameplay: Instead of holding fixed positions, players navigate through the streets of Warsaw, moving from one safehouse to another. Changing locations with each safehouse reached adds an element of unpredictability and urgency, mirroring the hit-and-run tactics of the Warsaw Uprising.
- Supply Gain through Safehouse Progression: Players gradually accumulate supplies, including better weapons and ammo, by successfully reaching and securing safehouses. This progression system encourages strategic movement and collaboration within teams.
- Stealth, Evasion, and Tense Firefights: Survival mode emphasizes stealth and hit-and-run tactics against enemy patrols, armor, and strongholds. Players can choose to avoid engagements they can’t win, creating an intense and occasionally frightening atmosphere.
- Endless Onslaught and Uprising Atmosphere: Contrary to Holding the line, the enemy’s reinforcement will never runout, and once locating your team, they will keep coming with greater numbers until your team is completely wipe out, so the objective here is not to defend, but to survive as long as possible, running from safe house to safe house and surviving enroute, reaching a set number of safehouses🏠 (e.g., 100 safe houses🏠 based on player settings). This reflects the historical reality of the Warsaw Uprising, where the Polish Home Army employed cunning tactics to endure against overwhelming German firepower, since it’s impossible to endure German frontal assault.
- Respawning at Safehouses: In the event of complete elimination en route, players can only respawn upon reaching a safehouse. This ensures a balanced and challenging gameplay experience, aligning with the survival theme.
- Limited Life Not Necessary: Unlike the Hold the Line mode, limited lives may not be necessary, as the primary focus is on surviving through the city streets. Game over occurs if the entire team is wiped out en route, and respawn opportunities are exclusive to reaching safehouses.
- Adjusted Rewards for Balance: Agreeing to Ahtary. To maintain a balance between PvE and PvP participation, EXP and Silver rewards for the Survival mode should be comparatively less than PvP modes. Limiting the number of times players can access this mode within a 24-hour period further encourages a diversified gaming experience.
here is some hopefully not copyrighted film clip for inspiration:
In conclusion, the Warsaw Uprising Survival mode offers a unique perspective on historical events, providing players with a challenging, immersive, and strategic PvE experience. By incorporating dynamic elements and rewarding team coordination, this mode complements Enlisted’s overall gameplay and encourages a balanced approach between PvE and PvP engagements.
