In addition, desertion should be treated as a non-win. (= effectively lowering your overall WR)
Currently, if you leave the game. It has no effect on your WR. And people do take advantage of that.

Do you think it’s possible separate non-win (lost connection) and desertion (stat manipulation) in stats? Does GJ/DF even have the know how?
they should create a reconnect button for anyone who left match early tbh

Why making dumb games even dumber, I just had 5 games, zero engineers, unbalanced as usual and game over- decided after 5 minutes. It has become the rule. Only a idiot idiot would stay till the end of the game or drop to a lower br to have some decent opponent…
Under normal conditions, if the matchmaking wasn’t so bad, I’d also be in favor of the game being tougher against desertion.
But currently, I’m experiencing about 9 out of 10 matches that are brutally unbalanced and I understand players who don’t want to waste their time being tortured and mercilessly bulldozed.
However, even in that situation, I don’t desert, I take it as a challenge and try to do as much damage as I can to the enemy, even knowing that defeat is assured in less than 15 minutes.

The matchmaking would work if people did not desert all of the time.
Matches are only unbalanced because some people chose desertion as their first course of action when they feel the match is unbalanced. This in turn makes the match which could have been balanced with human players into a match where the side which has been deserted is filled with bots, making the match actually unbalanced.
It is the deserting that fucks up the matchmaking. The matchmaking itself is not fucked up.
If you say that you “must” desert because you only like a certain map or game mode then create a custom game with the specific map and game mode you want to play on and play that.
I have learned by being a part of this community for 3 years that you cannot explain to deserters why it is wrong to desert, they will find any and all rationalization and sum it up as “instead of punishing deserters, just make X change to the game to suit me personally so I win every match and then I wont desert”. And then the game gets nerfed but they don’t care, instead they will find something else to whine about which “forces them to desert”.
Most deserters just rage quit cause they suck at the game and instead of putting in effort to get better they just cycle through matches until they get whatever they specifically want, not understanding that screws up the match making for everyone else.

a BR3 deserting after being uptiered to BR5 should not be counted as a desertion
Fighting as a BR3 in a BR5 match and losing should be counted as a win.
A BR3 in a BR5 match should get enhanced rewards for finishing the match.
If or when a BR3 deserts a BR5 match there should be no penalty.

I don’t mind this.
I’m not against players desertion as everyone have their reasons.
But I know some ppl desert right before a match end because they’re losing… And I just find it too silly. It should be counted as a loss.

Desertion should simply count as a loss - easy solution
if we could fight the game modes and maps we wanted avoid double up tiering, and enemy stacks you might have a point, but as it is desertion is the only way to avoid game that are unwinnable from the start, maybe a five minute counter desert in the first five minutes or see the game through to the end.
If you see this match is lost, play passiv easy… No Respect for quitter, max. Punishment for them!

I’m totally against it, before doing such a thing they should first fix the matchmaking and player rate. Yesterday the only game I played all day disgusted me so much that I almost uninstalled the game.
I didn’t even finish the game, I quit at the end, the idiots weren’t able to do anything outside of the typical behavior of poorly programmed bots.
Doing what you suggest, penalizing defection even more, will only make people simply play less or uninstall the game altogether.
There are games like that, for example League of Legend. It forces you to the point that you feel trapped in the game, not being able to leave because of how severe the restrictions are only makes you hate the game.
I stopped playing lol for that very reason, you’re trapped with 4 underdeveloped morons who haven’t even left the stone age yet, insulting each other and playing as if they had no fingers and you’re there, kidnapped, forcing you to play so you don’t get banned.
Not to mention they punish you for no playing with apes but don’t reward you for playing their garbage game.

False, matchmaking doesn’t work, there aren’t enough players to fill all the matches and to top it off the bots play better than the people you’re matched with… And this is entirely the devs’ fault.
And the main reason is that you allow a person who doesn’t even have 20 hours of play to enter a br5 match just because he bought a br5 weapon with money or somehow got it and that’s all he has of said mmr.
NO and the reason is simple; That would only make people all go for br3 for the benefits without losses.

I can’t think of just one team based online game in relation to what people aren’t crying about matchmaking. Ancient gaming excuse.
You’re just insecure that your stats would show real numbers. You’d rather have completely fictional win rate in there. That’s literally all to it.
The fact that people are against what I’m proposing just proves that I’m not making it up. And this artificial alteration of WR is one of the reasons people are deserting. Otherwise they wouldn’t care. On the contrary, they’d be happy that the stats finally match reality.

No, i think this is stupid. And dark flow has more important things to do. And no amount of shaming is gping to change the way i think. Desertuon stat rates dont matter. It seems you are trying to feed some sort of ego to use against people? I dont agree with this at all. This is potatoes.
