Prohibit the use of tanks in the gray zone

Well that, let’s see if once and for all they find a way to prohibit using the tank in gray areas. I’m fed up with players tanking sniping in gray areas. Then they finish the game and get a lot of points just for being there in the back doing nothing and just shooting. It is unfair to all players, own and opponents. And, speaking of gray areas, Gaijin, how about once and for all doing something with the maps when a point is taken and the defending team is left behind the lines making kills just waiting for the opposing players to show up to kill them? There are many solutions that can be applied to that, for example give 10 seconds of time and if he does not go back he is eliminated by the game. They add more and more, many new features and mechanics (which is wonderful) but PLEASE FIX THIS ONCE AND FOR ALL!

The main problems are why grayzoning happens:

1 - the main one - explosion pack spam. They are so easy to use, and effortlessly, destroy any tank with ease, that gets remotely close. Like you dont even need to time it. It auto throws it at the last second. So most times you wont even see the grenade icon when you die.

Since you die in a tank so easily if you try to support infantry, it heavily encourages just camping far away

    • There isnt any reward for supporting infantry, staying near the frontlines. There is only a reward for grayzone camping in the way of the “The ranged master” medal. Give us some extra XP, make friendly AI target enemies with AT weapons, and close to tanks more. Do something like that to make it worth it.

What could be done?

  1. Remove explosion packs, replace with various AT grenades who will take real skill and knowledge to kill a tank in 1 shot. They would mostly kill 1-2 crew if penetrate, set the engine on fire, maybe set of the ammo if the thrower is skillful enough.

  2. Add more “improvised” methods to taking out tanks. Such as ability to smash the locks on hatches, throw grenades in, smash in the grate protection thingy with an axe and toss a grenade in the engine to completely destroy the engine and require a much longer repair.

Add more unique weapons for AT, such as allow german AT mines to fit a 10 sec fuse detonator where it would function as a satchel charge with the ability to throw it, though a very short distance. There are many more, but i dont have the time. Maybe later

3 Add hull-mg’s - make them prioritize AT infantry

  1. Add XP bonuses if you are at the frontlines close by friendly infantry

  2. Make friendly AI better at protecting tanks

  3. Add a reward for infantry players who stick near their friendly tanks

  4. Expland the gray zone to allow flanking of any tank who chooses to be a cunt.

  5. Fix the AT gun, shakiness

These are the main reasons, And solutions, though there are man more

This video i think is really good on the more improvised methods if you want to know more:

Greyzone needs to be larger before doing this.

Some maps the greyzone is only 20 feet away from the objective, so the tank must get within 20 feet before they can even shoot, sounds like a death sentence.

A lot of what you are saying I definitely agree with. I will however note that not all tanks are suited for close support. The M8 Scott on Normandy and the Grant on Tunisia definitely come to mind. Not only is it due to them getting taken out quickly that they stay in the grey zone, but also often times its the only place they have a good angle without spending forever getting into position along the sides. The Grant is especially notorious for this. Its a devastating tank, but even when maxed out its so incredibly slow that trying to get into an effective position can take a very long time. However, even if it is in the grey zone, it can still be reached with other tanks fire, AT weapons, field guns, and aircraft ordinance.

I don’t disagree that the greyzone camping is often very annoying, but I think the biggest solution will come from reworking sightlines, and the terrain around the map especially with how much it slows tanks down.

well there are number of ways you can fix grey zone issue, just that DF is too lazy to do so. i have seen topics regarding this from almost 2 years ago and number of solutions for it. biggest problem is that DF not only didnt fix it, but made the problem even worse with one update where grey zone started killing people even faster. at least before you could go into suicide charge into grey zone and kill enemy tank.

btw i have noticed that they made grey zone camping little bit better on d-day by trimming playable area for defenders. but that is only change i noticed regarding grey zone.

id remove gray zones completely

you see there are vehicles in this game (weirdly to the current desing of the game ) that are supposed to fit the role of tank destroyers and overall cannot engage or are not even meant to engage in close combat with other vehicles , tank destroyers and self propelled artillerys are good example … so I dont mind that these vehicles are in the back somewhere far BUT i want to be able to reach them by foot and be able to destroy them

AND if any Mr.Skillissue or other kind if ww2 whorehead will try to give me crapped thoughts about how are planes useful to this and that i should go play as pilot just to drop bomb and instantly parachute to the field because this is infantry based game then i gotta tell this : THAT IF GAME WANTS ME TO PLAY AS PLANE then it should give me free squad slot just for plane itself

Me personally wont spend squad slot on plane just like that when i can use it for infantry squad because as stated above … this is infantry based game therefore IDGAF

i will not buy all squad slots on earth for this

Here is the problem though. It’s NOT just infantry. The vehicles have their place. Artillery has it’s place. If you want to play “Infantry Only” there are custom lobbies for it!

Simply NO. Spawn camping is bad enough as it is. The grey zone buffer is there to stop not just spawn camping, but also spawn denial. What’s the difference? Spawn denial goes to the point where landmines and other traps would be put on the precise spawn location, so that those spawning don’t even get a chance to play the game at all.

No, what I am asking is that they are not constantly in that place, I think that what I am asking is perfectly understandable. I can only believe that you are one of those…

I agree. As infantry it is impossible to arrive, by plane you have to have an extra slot. So what’s left? That the developers make a playable area and where they can be destroyed by infantry, for example.

If you have a plane slot, if not, you have to fuck yourself and put up with those bastards all game back there.

No because you are asking tank dont need stay in their playable area

What you propose is well stated, and I can agree, but I hope they apply it sooner rather than later, since a lot of time has passed, they have fixed many errors and have added so many things that this (which is something basic) still hasn’t.

It is NOT all of its playable area, there is much more land to be than to be behind there camping.

There is also a part to this that I think is worth mentioning:
What reasons do tanks have for pushing forward?

  • Vehicles cannot take objectives.
  • No extra points are earned for helping the infantry.
  • Its easier to kill a tank at short range.
  • Usage of longer sightlines can allow a tank to hit more targets, especially due to slow turret speed.
  • CURRENTLY all infantry types are allowed to simply deconstruct fortifications, meaning a tank isn’t necessary to break through fortifications.

Ultimately, there isn’t really any reason for tanks to push in close right now. There isn’t really any situation that they do better than anything else, so it really comes down to either a redesign of maps to where they are more useful further up, OR more mechanics implemented to make them more useful on the front lines.

Is still your or enemy playable area and spawn area

There is no meaning of support infantry by staying near frontline. You can do the same thing while staying at the back with greater effectiveness.

They will not move out of grey zone when there still have potential threat.

Infantry top priority should be the objective point, not protecting the tank.
