I understand the devs are trying to generate revenue from a free to play model but this current approach is the wrong approach. There is little reason to grind when it is now possible to have a full rotation of just premium squads with maxed stats, loaded inventories, and maxed out weapons. I strongly urge the developers to cease the purchase of these premium squads immediately and resort to purchasable cosmetics (within reason) as a form of revenue. I believe that the trend of adding more premium squads will be this game’s downfall.
Too late - it’s a done deal- thousands of them already in circulation.
It is true that there is a lot of in circulation; however, it is better to stop now and not let this trend continue any longer into the current and upcoming campaigns. The premium squads are out of hand acting as shortcuts to outgun/outgear other players who havn’t also succumbed to purchasing these premium squads.
I believe for now on premium squads if ever added again (and I think the current squads should be changed as well), they should not serve as shortcuts and instead serve as something unique but optional.
Not going to happen - this is entwined in their progression model, would cause screams of outrage if removed without refund, massively defund the game if refunded, screams of outrage if kept when new players found they couldn’t get them … would screw progression in new campaigns if htey don’t have them and defund game development… there is no scenario where it can be changed.
Who said anything about removal? What I am suggesting is that any future purchase / addition be stopped until the current premium squads be altered so as to make them not shortcuts.
This mindset that it cannot be change will become more true the longer this trend continues, it is best to pause and take a step back. The premium squads are the meta and when you own them, there is little reason to grind, and then little reason to play.
I mentioned it, because I was looking at a number of scenariosI since that is a good place to start answering the wuestion “how would it work in practicve?” .
None of them work for the game or the players.
Mindset is irrelevant - the dev’s have a economic model that is highly integrated with the grind/progression - to change that isn’t going to be a matter for forum lobbying - it is how the game is built already - thinking otherwise is cloud cuckoo land.
Ther were heaps and heaps of threads begging them not to go down this route when it was in CBT, to stick with cosmetics - but hte decision was made ages ago.
I thought the premium squads for the battle of moscow pre-normandy were questionably too good, but now that a campaign contains enough premium squads so that you may have a full rotation of them is clearly out of hand. There is certainly a way to make premium squads reasonable and produce revenue in other ways (within reason too). This economic model will make this game’s lifespan short-lived.
There is little reason to even use premium squads exept ease first 10 campaing levels.
Most infantry premium squads are just inferior to regular squads.
As long as Premium squads arent equal or better than the normal ones why do you mind? just let the whales whale
That is debatable, but as I said, the current trend that I am seeing with premium squads becoming out of hand, it will not be too far into the future till we see more premium squads that may indeed be better than normal ones or at least most of them giving little reason to use maybe but one or two normal squads.
But will it make it unprofitable?
It’s raking in a shedload of money - looking at the old adverts for it when it was after foundation funding they were talking about needing $250k for the Tunisa campaign as a 3rd offering (Moscow and Normandy being the 1st 2 on offer) - you’d have to think they are well past that now.
Eg see Gaijin begins crowdfunding multiplayer war shooter Enlisted | Massively Overpowered
Well right now apart from the very early premium squads in Moscow which were pure P2W, the rest are just way worse than a full upgraded squad. There is an exception which is the soviet premium SMG squad which is better than the techtree ones until lvl 20. After that it is kinda useless
Premium squads are useless at high level compared with maxed non premium squads. I own some premium squads and only are good because their +100 exp. when you don’t need to grind, is better to use another squad better than that premium…
For example, in Normandy, I bought assault premium squads and as soon as I reach max level, I will change it. Premium assault squad is limited to 4 men, while there are other units better, with better weapons and more units
I concur with voodoo, the premium squads are good for casual players. If you want fresh ppl to join and play this game and provide a vibrant pool of new recruits the premium squads will help here more than hinder in the long run.
The fact that you have 4 members of a squad vs 5 - 9 members in higher level squads (they’ve now nerfed them all a little to rank 4 max - less for those who bought early) and so ultimately those who overplay premium squads will only hurt themselves in the long run, because they’re doing it at the cost of progression of their other squads.
On the other hand the Campaign progression bonuses associated with premium squads are worth their own consideration, particularly when you have worked out a balance between using premium to kick up your progression vs improving your regular squads.
Nevertheless, as the Enlisted community grows larger and the game matures, there will be so many ppl with high level squads at max level of progression, that premium squads will just collect dust in the rear echelon. For new players however, they will bring some semblance of sanity and ability to progress in what would otherwise just be a nasty meatgrinder against better equipped and more advanced opponents sporting superior perks.
Nah they are a none issue 4 man squads resticted to rank 4
I disagree.
Premium squads are inferior to regular ones and people use them either to grind faster or out of aesthetic pleasure. I see no problem here, given they are extremely overpriced as well.
most of guns are unique but not better the ones we get for free.
Nobody needs to have a premium squad. I think mostly noobs buy them, hoping to have an advantage, but a premium squad dies just as easily as a bare-bones default infantry squad. Unless Enlisted is the first FPS somebody has ever played, killing and winning is very easy with any kind of gun, even a noob level bolt-action.
Let people waste their money on premium squads if they want. Don’t fear them, kill them and make them regret their decision to favour the wallet over ability.
Not where you see the problem where it is necessary, premium squads are quite balanced
