There are a few examples, but this one I came across today that was super annoying. “Gavutu North”
As you can see, the Greyzone Forces an artificial Pocket on the attackers. The really annoying part here is it allows defenders too shoot across your lines, with no fear of being pushed out (rally can’t be touched here. That position has complete defilade from anywhere but in front. So even if you pick them off, they can just spawn straight back. This position can cover nearly the entire approach while not being takeable.
I guess my point is, Greyzones should not favour and allow both equal opportunity. It should look like this
there are others, but this map annoys me enough to make a topic.
The terrain is not equal in the first place. As you can see, there is water blocking the reinforcement of the defender. You can only build rally point in 1-2 places if you don’t want to walk through the water and slowing you down. The attacker can build multiple rally point on land to attack the point.
I don’t see why is that a good reason to allow a partial protected envelopment, that’s protected by Greyzone (the attackers have less rally coverage across the line). If thats what you are worried about, that part of the map should be unavailable period.
Defenders already have the advantage of unlimited tickets.
Remove the protection there, and the defenders can still Envelop if they want. Just not with impunity.
My issue as always is that the defenders are otherwise always at the disadvantage, as they never have time to set up fortifications. Almost all objectives past first point really don’t have too much of the issue that you are suggesting.
the worst part about this map is not even that the defenders can defend the point from within their spawn area, instead… the defenders can also push the attackers back into their own spawn.
There is basically no cover or positions to build radios, this map is so incredibly busted
