The rising sun flag means horror memories for Asian players!This flag is also a nazi symbol!

if it’s about horror memories , then let’s remove the soviet flag, the USA flag (you know, because of the two bombs), and we can probably add the british flag as well, as i’m sure a lot of people have suffered through cause of them at some point.
The fact is that those flags are not illegal in the country in which this game is being develop, nor is the rising sun.
I just found out that there is a Chinese version of enlisted, which could be censored if they want.

If someone is sensitive to things happened in WW2 why does he feel the need to play with a WW2 fps? Rising sun flag no-no but a Japanese soldier running towards you wielding a katana, screaming “Banzai!” doesn’t feel you bad?
By the way, you can take it as a therapy: in Enlisted you will have the opportunity to kill 1000s of those evil Japs in any way you like - their rising sun flag won’t protect them.




Edited my comment , because in another topic a Chinese player mentioned a valid reason to remove the rising sun flag:

“The Rising Sun Flag will make it impossible for Chinese players to live stream this game in the our community, This will hinder the spread of the game in the community to a certain extent, and have some unforeseen negative political consequences, both public opinion and legal.”

I can imagine that in China streaming a game with this kind of symbols could have serious legal consequences. Maybe an option for turning historical symbols on/off would make possible to play the Pacific content for them without risking prison or labour camp for the Chinese member of our community.

Because of the last golden leopard incident, they said that they could not achieve the switch. This time, we propose the most easily implemented deletion or replacement. But we also hope to have the switch function as much as possible to facilitate different players

you do realize that this flag is still used by japan to this day as the naval flag of the JMSDF

I said same thing in similar topic in suggestion room, but I repeat it:

Normally, usage of Rising-sun flag is limited. I want to see historical flags, but in-game one shown in screenshots are very strange.

In case of Japanese Army, it was a regimental flag: only one is existing in the regiment and very important thing. Because of it, situation when they rise it is limited, and in case of old resident body of flag is not left and only pole is left. Normally, ordinally Japanese soldiers rise a sun-mark flag, a national flag of the Empire/State of Japan.

Japanese soldiers after Battle of Nanjing in 1937:

In case of Japanese Navy, it was not precious one alike in the army because it was a consumable item. Army’s one was given from the emperor but Navy’s one is just an ensign and have to replace if it was damaged. Because of it, it was used as ordinary symbol of the navy.
In addition, some naval ground facilities rise it and naval landing party often used it. However, at least, they will not put multiple flag inside of aircraft hanger lol

china has their own version of enlisted where everything is censored.

btw historical on/off could have been done for all symbols and they could have made forced IP filter for those countries where there are laws prohibiting it.

if gaijin cancle the censored for nazi german flag,asian people will agree keep the rising sun flag.
and much asian player most want have a switch,it for choice show or hide rising sun flag.
i’m a chinese but i’m not much care about that flag,even next campaign i will play japanese faction first,but i still hope this game can censore rising sun flag,at least keep a switch to hide that.
most chinese don’t talk in this forum because much chinese don’t understand english,we talk in some chinese forum,but this time we think we should talk about this to here to let more people and game official know what we want.

At least, put multiple rising-sun flag everywhere is very strange, unhistorical and it hurt immersiveness of game, so I hope they modify it

problem with nazi flag that it is outright illegal in some countries, while rising sun flag is not only legal in all countries, but it is current flag of japanese navy.

i would like all symbols ingame cause of historical accuracy and there are only few countries that outright ban nazi symbols (and it is questionable if games and art are included in that ban).

also there is enlisted for chinese market with all censorship you want.
btw i dont see a problem
 anyways you are probably gonna play allies and will kill japanese under that flag

I’d argue that removing the symbols but keeping the substance is more insidious. You can’t sanitize SS squads into being paletable no matter how much of their symbology you remove, but you can’t represent Germany without them.

It’s a difficult subject and there isn’t really a “correct” answer to this issue. I just would have liked to see companies not treating people as idiots who need to be educated, but at the same time are too dull to be educated.

That flag is still in use, by the way. You can see it on military ships to this day.

Thats so stupid, that flag has been around for a long-time way before and way after the war in the pacific, it’s as much a symbol of Japan and their nation flag is it is in no way akin to a swastika.

i also would like symbols have historical accuracy, but i know no matter i like something or not, it shouldn’t be imposed on everyone. lot chinese player much campaign have got to full level in gaijin server,why they must to change server and do again?we don’t like some shit that is why we tell this in here,and you guys just say shut up and fuck off,free speech?

That is a baseless assumption. Modern people often don’t know the meaning of many words they use and have trouble recognizing reality - present or past.

Censorship tends to make it only worse, but there is no clear alternative and no clear consensus on what to do in this age of information world war. Not even the “country-specific legal restrictions” are as clear cut as you seem to think.
