Plans for more African American Troops?

Been enjoying the game very much lately. Few gripes here and there but nothing major. However, I have noticed that the only way for me to play as an African American is to buy the Red Tails pack, and that is only one pilot, and no infantry. Are there any plans to add more divisions or troops that are black? Kind of disappointed that they are completely unavailable other than the pack. It’s not like one didn’t exist either, so I can see it being completely plausible. Just wondering really, cause I’m really excited for some representation!

Originally was going to post that I didn’t think any other units were there. However, I did manage to find some units. However, at the time of Normandy African American Units were still not serving frontline roles in Europe (which would change shortly afterwards due to mounting casualties). If Gaijin adds established AA units, then we could see the 452nd Anti-Aircraft Battalion. Or if they were to add designated artillary battalions we could see the same thing. Otherwise we’d need somewhere later like Battle of the Bulge, the Battle of the Rhine, or the Battle of Italy to keep it historically accurate.

Keep your racial politics out of the game.

Whats wrong with having historical units that were present in a campaign at that campaign in enlisted?

Yea they definitely need more variety of characters and voices regardless of skin color, hearing the same 4-5 voice lines repeatedly for hours can get very annoying lol

Without getting into a political debate, I’d like to see the Moroccan Goumier and tirailleur make an appearance.

The U.S military was racially segregated during the war. An uncomfortable truth, but the truth nevertheless.

Of course. In addition we should have a feature that will allow you to choose the gender and color of your choice. I would love to play as an Woman of darker color on the side of Germans in the invasion.

Okay but enough of sarcasm.

I have nothing against representation of other units. I would even argue that the current system of playing the African American units through a pack makes sense because it would limit the amount of them in the game.

You have to understand that Enlisted tries to aim for realism and fun gameplay, and we all remember Battlefield 5 fiasco about the Gender and Color.

There were AA combat units as the war progressed, their was a tank Unit Called the Black Panthers. By 1945 AA artillery units were on the front lines in the Pacific.

Of course. I agree with you, however the Normandy Campaign actually takes place a year after the Italy campaign, so there is actually precedent for existing units to be used, alongside the Japanese Nisei RCT that was also along the front. Of course these were relatively small numbers, but would still like to see them, even as a paid pack. Thanks for the comment

It’s not racial politics, they existed. Just because there were few of them doesn’t mean I shouldn’t want to be able to play as them. Being an African American myself, I would like to be proud of those who fought alongside all the other heroes made in the war.

I understand the segregation, I’ve done the research, however they still took part in battles alongside other units and were expected the same, even a lot of times higher, results(however didn’t achieve them all the time because of the conditions). The truth, I think is that they could add at least one unit to the game with no problems.

Yes of course, but as I’ve said in another reply, and even vaguely in the OP, there is precedent here. There are a few battalions and even an entire division, the Buffalo soldiers albeit in Italy, that still fought in the war. I would still like to see at least one unit added into the game so I could honor those who fought, and I think it would be little trouble overall. Definitely not looking for a BF5, so nothing huge, but at least something more than just one pilot.

And as much as I would like to agree with you guys 100% that the game is strictly historically accurate, you gotta take a closer look at the game because it’s untrue. If they were striving for the true accurate image they wouldn’t have started everyone with springfields(and Thompsons would be in the game), and there wouldn’t be just Stuart’s fighting Pumas, it would be a majority of Sherman 75’s(not M4A2E2 Jumbo’s) fighting Pz.IV’s + IIIs(even IIs) of all designations. If it were more historically accurate you would see more battalions of levied troops from German territories at the time, like Hungarians defending at D-Day, you would see the Airborne landing before the main infantry, etc. There are a lot of things that are accurate, like which weapons are used in the game, but it’s simply untrue that the game is striving to be completely historically accurate when the changes they’ve made are present.

I’m not arguing for a BFV situation. Just that I’d like to see one or two historical units that actually fought in said campaign. I don’t want to see troops fighting were they never actually fought.

I agree this Battalion was fighting in France in October, and participated in every major battle of the war, as part of Pattons third army.

Just discovered another unit similar to the 761st, being the 333rd Field Artillery Battalion. They took part in the Normandy landings, subsequent campaign, and were stationed in Belgium during the Ardennes offensive. Had quite a good track record apparently as well. Would be fun to have these guys in as a mortar team or forward observers(like a radioman oriented squad).

Or the 969th, whom the 333rd were combined with after taking casualties and being overrun during the battle of the bulge. Either way, they’re apparently well known, although the 333rd for a less savory reason.

Bro, we have weapons that never were used in normandy or in the entire war, you don’t notice which unit you are fighting ingame so this shouldn’t be a problem

I would almost bet they will include AA squads in a Battle of the Bulge campaign. Hopefully they are going to have one, that was a part of the western front where Germany used the last of their best troops, best tanks, for offensive operations. Tanks would have to stay on the narrow roads of the forest, would be far more rugged maps then any we currently have.
