It would be interesting to see early post-war conflicts. Such as the Korean War, the Indochina War, and so on. And also WWI, Interbellum, pre-WWI conflicts like the Boer War and the Boxer Rebellion.
I can guess how our developers would have implemented all this. And I would not like to see a MiG-15 in Stalingrad and an attack of the dead men with PPS-43 and SKS-45 against the Kaiser’s army with Volkssturm weapons.
Well, considering that Enlisted is a WW2 game, I really don’t see the Dev’s adding on a WW1 or a Korean War extension. However, I couldn’t have foreseen them adding Cowboys, Indians and Zombies to events either, so, who knows.
I’d imagine that ww1 and ww2 would have separate matchmaking so if you owned the mp18 for example it’d still be free in the ww1 part of the game whilst it’d be paid in the ww2 part of the game.
You gave me an idea. What if the developers organize events in the setting of all these conflicts? And then we can play it like the official modes in custom matches with silver and experience farming? And in general, we need to add all the modes from the old events to custom matches so that they can be launched without mods.
Why though? Lots of WW1 weapons were used in WW2. There are already a lot of them in the game. Really all we would need at this point is a few new maps and a couple new TT weapons. Just keep
High BR out of the WW1 maps and I don’t see any issue.
Thank you for your grandfather’s service, that’s really cool
I would love to see the Korean War in game.
Like you, I recognise that the Korean War was almost entirely WWII era tech.
All we are lacking at the moment is the M4A3E8 (which is a WWII tank that should be added anyway) and the Superbazooka, which existed in 1944, the rockets came later (and would be a better alternative for high rank USA than a German rocket launcher).
At the time I made the post I linked, jets didnt exist so they were problematic.
But now that we have jets in game there is, in my view, ZERO reason not to add the Korean War.
The Royal Australian Air Force used Mustangs (in game) and Gloster Meteors (in game). Korean War would be BR VI anyway so if DF added later Korean War jets they would be separated from WWII.
They could also just focus on early Korean War.
Like you I have also suggested the First Indochina War, 1945-1954 and maybe the Malayan Emergency 1948-1960.
These early Cold War battles again used predominantly WWII tech and as we see with Indochina basically started as soon as WWII finished so in my view its not that big of a leap.
I would however end as you said in 1959, so no Vietnam War or later. A Vietnam War Enlisted would be great, but I think that should be a separate game. (if they did Malayan Emergency there’s no rule that they would have to go right to the end of that war)
I’ve copy pasted some of my comments from my earlier post.
I believe the Korean War fits the style of the game fine and, as has been recognised before, the overwhelming majority of content is already in the game and was used in WWII.
Gaining recognition for the Forgotten War and the men who fought it is important. It would also add more variety for BR V or a potential BR VI.
Based on previous posts apparently the Korean War would be very popular with the Asian market so would actually be financially wise as well.
Combatants:
USA and UK are already in game. Australian, New Zealand and Canadian troops should be added to WWII anyway (their uniforms are super easy to add). All of their weapons are already in game.
A Turkish premium squad could be a nice addition.
I would place South Korean squads under the USA tree since they primarily used American weapons and uniforms. Its quite easy to add some Korean names and faces.
I would suggest that North Korean forces be added as a part of Japan. This would allow the Japanese faction to be utiilised more. Korea was occupied by Japan from 1910-1945 and North Korean soldiers used many captured Japanese weapons.
(the list provided below doesnt account for the various Japanese weapons however I have previously read up on those and once again they’re all already in game).
For the PLA I would suggest they be a part of USSR. This is because the PRC was supported by the USSR and provided with Soviet weapons. It would allow mean that all the major factions besides Germany and Italy could take part in the Korean War.
Adding China as a subfaction within USSR also allows for potential WWII Chinese squads/maps to be added as a part of Allies if desired.
Maps
Maps are the only ‘major’ addition required for Korean War to be added. They shouldnt be too hard to create. Ive listed some suggestions, I encourage people to post others especially anyone from South Korea here.
Incheon
Seoul
Kapyong
Chaum Ni (Hills 614, 410, 703)
Imjin River
Weapons
Here is a list of weapons used in the Korean War. As can be seen, almost everything is already in game.
This is a list of military equipment used in the Korean War.
Aside from a couple of Chinese rifles (which are easy to add and were usually based on German rifles), the SKS is the only infantry weapon that stands out and that would be fine to add.
The other addition would be the Super Bazooka. Interestingly Australian soldiers got the Super Bazooka direct from U.S.A before American troops did. The Yanks therefore had to use WWII era M9 bazookas for a while. Adding the super bazooka would work fine as well.
Vehicles
Tanks such as the T 34 85 are surprise surprise already in game. Currently we do not have the M4A3E8 however apparently there is very little difference with the M4A3E2 already in game. It should be noted that the M4A3E8 did serve in WWII so adding it would work fine.
The Cromwell served in WWII so could be added without issue.
The Patton tank could be added and is not from WWII but I think it would be okay if it was excluded.
Pre WWII Conflicts
I also welcome pre WWII conflicts but I think Korea is actually the easiest to add at this point, since we have appropriate factions and basically all the necessary tech.
DarkFlow could maybe even use some of the Bulge maps as a start (remove all WWII European details) for Korean maps.
If we were going to go pre WWII I think the Spanish Civil War makes the most sense. Not that Im against WW1, just that technology wise I think it works better and we would have existing assets like some of the Soviet and German/Italian supplied tech.
Spanish Civil War would also allow DF to test how trench warfare goes in terms of gameplay.
If we had WWI at least it might force DF to finally add France as a faction or sub faction of Allies.
But yeah Korean War is easiest to add at the moment.
Final Note On WWII Final note for those saying to complete WWII first. I am absolutely with you, I agree, I’ve been asking for years now for various content to be added and myself and others just keep getting ignored.
It’s pretty clear to me that DF has no intention of doing WWII proper justice. They havent even made maps for Iwo Jima/Okinawa, let alone Tobruk, New Guinea or Singapore like I ask for.
They have assets to easily add Australian and New Zealand uniforms, but refuse to.
They lock Allied tech behind a paywall in the Soviet tree then whinge there’s not enough content so they have to add all these BS prototypes.
So at this point Ive given up on an actual WWII game. it doesnt help that most of the playerbase seems to be more interested in stupid late war fantasy BR with completely make believe guns.
I would rather them just move to the Korean War, using existing assets and enjoy that.
It is true as some have said here that the devs take ages for any update so I would consider that a further argument for Korea since as I have said many, many times now, the content is already there. We dont even need new factions, just some minor uniform differences and Korean names in the Japanese tree (recall that there were many Koreans in the IJA in WWII anyway)
Here’s also a list of weapons used in the Malayan Emergency.
As expected, the overwhelming majority are WWII era and already in game.
The Lee Enfield No. 5 ‘Jungle Carbine’ should be in game anyway.
The only non-WWII weapons on this list are the Madsen M-50 SMG (introduced 1950) and L1A1 self loading rifle.
In my country Australia we just called these SLRs and used them especially later in Vietnam. Americans know it as the FN FAL. Now according to Wikipedia the L1A1 wasnt adopted by the U.K until 1957 and New Zealand didnt get theres until 1960 so I would argue that the L1A1 could be excluded from a Malayan Emergency Enlisted campaign or maybe premium/event. (remember Malayan Emergency was 1948-1960)
The Madsen M-50 would be a good premium/event weapon, therefore as stated originally all weapons for the Korean War and Malayan Emergency would be WWII era and like 99% of them are already in game. Same applies to First Indochina War.
