just to make a point, sure, we don’t all represent everyone, but it’s not like the gun is like the nerfed shotguns or vg 1-5 / m1 carbine when they were truly unusable.

guns don’t necessarely have to be better than the previous one ( clear example is the vg 1-5, beretta in moscow for the level being in. same goes for the sten gun. heck, panzer IV J / pz III B or daimler in tunisia. ) and many others that i’m missing. it’s for choices.

i and others individuals sticked with the bas because they are iconic and people liked them even though were not effective against auto weapons in certain campaigns.

Well I get your point. But when you see such an iconic weapon at such a high level, you just assume it is good! The tompson was the biggest reason I started to play the americans (not the only one, but the biggest).

well. same has gone with the stgs where it wasn’t very good at first, and others tanks/weapons ( or airplanes ).

because the more i look at it, and the more i’m thinking you are using it the wrong way.

Because let’s face it. If the game was competitive, (not saying it should be) no one would play it because the M2 carabine is straight up better in every way!

well, i personally take thompson anyday compared to the m2 due to historical preferences and i guess sight.

i use them in a both similar manner and i get the job done quite easely.

the only advantages between the two, is that the m2 can be given to engy and have sort of infinite weapon or assign them to most classes.

( perhaps a bit of high rate of fire as well and accuracy. )

well that could be said for whole allies smg line. every weapon feels like sidegrade and not upgrade. it is whole line of compromises between recoil and bad sights. only gun that outright doesnt suck in any category is lanchester, but it is mediocre compared to axis smg.

Thompson should have definitely been an earlier unlock, but you can blame the Sten and the Lanchester for that. They should have never been added to the campaign since there are no British squads in the campaign aside from Premium tankers. I don’t remember at which level the Sten is unlocked or the Lanchester but those are the two levels the M1A1 and M1 should be unlocked, if not even earlier.

You can blame US for not have shitty smg outisde m3 (and even here is better than mostly axis one), because their only smg is called thompson with more than 10 variant of her, so the dev are forced to add commowealth equipment for balance the campaign, and dont put 30-70(rd) 800 rpm smg at every smg level unlock for allaies, in meantine axis have to start with the classic mp28 and go on suffering exactly like all campaigns with soviet

Normandy is the most belanced campaign regarding infantry equipment for both faction, and there is nothing to complain about this

MP 34 - Actually pretty decent
FNAB - Slightly worse M3
MP40 - Great
Beretta M1918 - Shreds ass
MP 35 - A worse MP40 seriously fuck this gun
ZK - Great
Beretta M30 - Great

Actually now that I think about it Axis Normandy has a far better weapon lineup than Allies Normandy, aside from MGs

The only motive wy axis smg work good in normandy is because of the bad commowealth one wo are put aganaist them, if you see tunisia you can already see the imbalance of have a Thompson aganaist low level smg like mp40 and going further the situation become even worse

well i havent played tunis (much), but axis smg in normandy totally shred allies smg. i must say that although i didnt love every axis smg, at least i didnt hate any. but i hate almost every allies smg. sights are terrible (except lanchester(german) and sten) and some have terrible recoil (sten). first thompson (m1a1?) is shit so far (i think i prefer m2 over thompson so far), but i need more practice with it to make final judgement.
