I just decided to grind the last campaign where I still have worthwhile stuff to unlock: Normandy.
A long time ago, during some event, we received that beautiful plane that I just unlocked the squad to use with:
I’m looking at the regular unlock one (obtained at lvl 27) and the only real difference I see (along slight maneuverability differences) is 10 HVAR rockets vs 6 M8 for this one.
My question, to Allies veterans, is which is better? What is the difference between M8 and HVAR rockets?
M8 is less splashy
HVAR have more AOE damage and hit Hard, you need only press R
@gastanofrizzi @CaptainSebekel strange. Does it mean m8 is better at piercing vehicles? Or simply than the lvl 27 P47 with HVAR is just better in every aspects compared to this one?
(I’ll still use it, being able to use 1 P47 while being lvl 18 is STILL a huge boon)
Both rocket kill tank with a direct hit, HVAR help you farm infantry more easy
M8 is budget HVAR. I dont remember that they are better in any regards than HVAR… maybe accurracy?

Well, in conclusion it must simply be an advantage to use it at lvl 18, instead of having to grind up to 27. a good way to lvl up A20 squad easily thought.
I don’t have the higher one, yet, but have the event one, sweet plane to fly for a noob like me, i enjoy it.
And being a noob, i don’t waste real pilots time, by flying, i only use it, if no one in side is using anything.
HVAR is top tier AoE nazi removal
M8s are for killing nazibunkers and can do AoE in a pinch
Flight performance i think both planes are about the same
I’m having a blast (uhuhuh) with it for sure. Those annoying bf110… I make them disappear. I honestly didn’t know planes were THAT powerful in Normandy, higher tier I ever used were those in Berlin, and I rarely flew there in the first place.
But those 8x 50 cal. … aaaah beautiful!
So happy Normandy allies seem playable again while solo, they are seriously fun to play.
Hvar does demolish inf more easly .
as for plane performance, kinda the same
It just REALLY surprised me that an attacker (bomber) plane had such wonderful fighter capability.
It can do everything!
That 500lb is just enough for any enemy vehicle,
Those 8x 50 cal just make enemy planes vanish mid air
Also have rockets because why not. Knowing HVAR are even more potent…

That’s why I compare the bubble back to the 110g-2 since both are extremely good at removing inf and clearing the skies (no joke the 110 just needs one server side hit to down any plane)
You can snipe from longer range with the M8 (but i used it on P38 which are closer to the vehicle axis so less dispersion) they are very effective vs vehicles due to this accuracy but i dubt you have the same accuracy on the P47D because the rockets are on the wings, like the A20 tunisia where i found the M8 far less accurate than on P38 Normandy
HVAR are less accurate but better AoE and shatter full squads with a single hit … and you ve got 10 of them

10 HVAR rockets are just opaf. just press R and remove axis players. There is no stopping for you if you can also watch the sky for german planes
And there tough as nails, last two flights, shoot plane, then we play chicken, ram each other, and P-47 wins keke
At least from my experience hvar like to wobble around in flight and don’t land perfectly straight
Razorback its good too, its like early p47, razorback can make a good job and they can make fighter job and CAS job at the same time, better than only light bomber a 20 25
but, 47-28 its indisputably better
M8’s seem more accurate to me - easier to kill marked vehicles with them than HVAR’s, although both WILL kill with a hit… nominally hte HVAR should be heaps better - faster velocity, heavier payload - just doesn’t seem to work like that.
And this one is MARKEDLY more manoeuvrable IMO - never mind the stats - I have both, and the bubble top fully upgraded handles really badly compared to the razorback.
