I’m hopeful about it. Though my concern is still heavily on balance regarding grenades and mechanics of defense. Since there will not be a BR regarding equipment, primarily grenades, I’m suspecting we will see tons of new players getting put off from the game due to having to deal with constant WP and Molotov spam, simply because players can get away with it.
I cannot wait. I think this was a brilliant move and will help the game so much.
The things I hate most are the terrible MM and the having to grind the same things over and over. This solves both of those issues. One word: AMAZING.
I believe virtually everyone is super happy for the coming META change. We just have lots of worries about how it will be done. We know we need it, we think it will help, but we all have our pet worries. Me, it’s the integration of Italy and Britain. I want to run purely Italy, but I am also excited about playing on Stalingrad maps with them. Heck I wouldn’t mind Moscow or Berlin maps, but I can see how that would upset people.
This is a great point. @1942786
MAYBE something like WP grenades get nerfed like TNT was. Or maybe small packs are Tier II and large packs are Tier III. IDK you guys are the game designers, but he’s right, a dude with 3 grenades and a mine with a bolt action rifle is significantly more powerful than a dude with 1 grenade no mine and a bolt action rifle.
Yeah @1942786 these older premium squads really really need an Engineer. And alow Tier in rating.
I totally agree with this and feel the same way man
For the merge, it depend on how will you treat player’s current inventories and items. Based on how you treat your paid customers of Stalingrad FAP, and possible zero compensation on Pacific FAP. I have lose faith on your ability to properly handle players properties.
For BR based matchmaking. It also depend on how you deal with it. You are so often bring up unfinished features. There are tons of loopholes if you directly use WT’s BR matchmaking. I’d rather you use win/lose ratio directly, if you are going to mess it up.
Use BR based on average equipments plus squad sizes.
How good or bad of the new meta is still based on how you are going to do in the details.
- The merge is a must, or else a systematic issue will cause the game to die.
- Compensation is what players care: please make sure the rate of exchange corresponds to the current experience gain for each different order. Or even in better terms.
Also, what about the experience compensation for repeat grindering? - The restriction on flame and throwables is a must. That being said, please make sure do not allow new cancer to occur: such as the old AA guns.
Though generally pleased that this meta update seems interesting for me, yet still I think there are rooms for improvements:
- Improve movement system. This is a FPS. Not aimed for hardcore, or that much historicity (the past decisions have shown this) So please make optimizations according to this core, such as optimize the gun mounting, motion fluency, as well as deleting the weapon drop after going up/ down a small obstacle(stairs), this is annoying.
- Fix bugs: mine bug, dead body streching bug and etc.
- Optimize the Server, it is strange at the moment.
- Optimize the AI members significantly, not to make them aimbot, nor keeping them like idiots at this stage.
- Make more ammo options for tanks.
- Do penalty on campers who never attack the point.
- Give the defenders limited manpower. The current infinite manpower is too easy to exploit.
- Dynamically adjust faction balance and map balance. Make sure to adjust that at least once a week. Or else it will the current situation: totally unbalance in places like tunisia.
I agree with you except this:
I am not quite sure which specific change do you mean? The previous change of animation in August 2022 was making the movement more realistic by slowing down some change of position, disable ADS while changing position, and disable hip firing.
Maybe not all players want that sort of fast-moving “FPS” animation and speed, otherwise there are so many better counterparts on the market to play.
For a game with more bolt-action and semi-auto weapons, a faster and less estimable motion will make automatic weapons more OP because slow firing weapon will be more difficult to hit enemy on moving, then aiming become less useful and spraying bullets or spamming explosives (rifle grenade) become the only solutions.
For the future different modes option will allow different motion speed like War Thunder. But before that, abandon of unique immersion of this game by a likely poor imitation of animation from other fast-moving FPS games which have possibly different intended customers may not be a good idea.
Can you implement this now please?
Have been playing any side for a little time now, would be nice, to have some incentive to keep playing any side, instead of waiting for 6 months.
thank you.
I suggested this for almost 2 years now. Better late than never
But with combined factions and most importantly new tech TREES where players will be able to FOCUS on what they want to unlock, I truly hope this xp boost will be significant… else I don’t see that many ppl using it.
Unless it also boosts currency gains. I always need more silver and bronze… there’s always some new loadouts I want to try… or different pistols, etc.
Nor i tbh
but i will say this, at least when it sticks me on loosing team, seems to be a at least 2-3 others real players, as well, and also, most games, i have enjoyed, even though we loose.
And yes, omg, it even has put me on a wining team a few times too! lol
compared to me picking a loosing team, and only get 1-2 real people, and def not enjoy the game lol
@Veekay45
For the controversial problem of late war simplified weapon with less power like MP3008 and VG2, it might be a better idea to just remove them from the main techtree and give high Berlin-era BR, so people will only play them only for uniqueness like some current gold order weapon. Anyway they are rare exceptions, remove them is not a considerable waste of game resource. About how to make them available in the new system, maybe as gold order weapon, or unlock for free after some late game content have been researched.
I’m not entirely against this BR thing, honestly, it sounds like a good idea. But the fact we have no control over the maps we play is rather frustrating.
My post might have gone unnoticed, would you happen to know more about the new AR system? Or when we might learn the weapon ratings?
@1942786
Hey, I do have a concern I’d like to bring up. I feel you are the one who can shed light on this better than anyone.
While I do believe the new matchmaking-based BR and development trees are positive changes to the game, I do not believe restricting control of the maps we play in is an entirely good thing. For example, there are players who do not enjoy playing Berlin, or Normandy, whereas they enjoy playing Moscow more, for instance. Forcing them to play on maps they don’t enjoy, on top of the heavier hand on “desertions” doesn’t seem like a good idea, forcing people to play on maps they don’t enjoy seems to be in contradiction of why we play the game, to begin with, to have fun.
Are there any plans or talks of a feature to allow the players to pick the maps they want to play in? Or will it be subject to change?

i’d give it a:
mostly because sounds good in paper, but most of us still have more questions that are being left unaswered ( for this moment ).
and, a bit earlier to judge precisely.
sounds good in theory, gotta see how it will plays out.
would like to know more about customs and the editor changes ( if any… )
I don’t think so. High br, will almost exclusively be used by extremely sweaty and competitive players… The kind of player who only wants to meta min/max everything. As such, if they give high br to Volks stuff… Nobody will use them ever again.
I want to use Volks stuff. There were many Volks/conscripts manning the Atlantic wall too, so they would work in Normandy quite well.
My major idea is not to “make them work at high BR”, but “avoid them work in low BR corresponding early war maps”, as they are rare exceptions, even remove them completely from the main game is still a relatively small loss.
It might not be worth to keep a few types of weak weapons in the main game, because it would not be difficult to find substitutes, but if they have to be kept, they will usually appear in a immerse-breaking way.
Normandy is still usually high BR isn’t it? Because they are developed late but still low power, so they seem do not quite compatible with the current BR-year-power correlation, maybe a more enjoyable environment to play Volks stuff is custom game, for example as starter weapon for spawn point mode, or in more historical accurate mode for Normandy maps.
Just give all last ditch german weapons high br based on corresponding year so they’ll by available only in 1944-1945 scenarios. Giving them BR based only on their performance is kinda strange and will lead to situations where you see mp3008 and kar98 kriegsmodell in moscow
