mustard/chlorine gas strike → italy supposedly used one of those in their ethiopian campaing. Causes progressive damage and visual distortions while inside the smoke cloud. Damages light vehicles and infantry and/or causes vehicles crews to operate with reduced efficiency (like if they had no perks) for 30 or less seconds.
incendiary strike → used extensively by both sides of the war, mostly on cities. Causes burn damage.
airburst shell (or something like that, forgot the actual name) ->the shell explodes before hitting the ground. Could release fragmentation or smaller explosives towards the ground, damaging light vehicles and infantry, disables heavy vehicles.
flare: 2x the size of the regular arty strike, marks enemies on radar or map that are inside the area for 30 seconds
not so serious sugestions:
Soviet Fear Propaganda (like the one in company of heroes): artillery shells filled with propaganda leaflets, causes AI to flee from battle towards the closest captured point or spawn
Actually allies had radar fuzes for their arty.
And germans achieved similar results with rounds ricocheting from the ground and exploding in the air via delay fuze. (But I must say it sounds quite unbelievable.)
Yeah, this could be interesting, especially if it affects movement, stamina, and adds a stun effect. It would need a counter, like gas masks could work well.
This might be overpowered, so I’m not sure it would be a good idea.
I think you’re talking about proximity-fused shells. These could be useful, maybe deployed by planes or artillery.
Interesting, but is there any counter to this? Similar to a bomber strike, but at least bombers can be shot down.
Honestly, I love this idea. More fun features like this would make the game even more unique and enjoyable!
What’s the recon plane supposed to do? If you’re thinking about marking tanks, that’s already an easy job for a dedicated and experienced fighter pilot on your team.
A recon plane could end up being a free kill for enemy planes,
I really like the idea of this one we could make very good strategies by making the bots flee + HE or a CAS can work for cleaning the capture points without to much effort on it
Mmm if You think it well could be usefull in some way to fix the bombers making them trow fire from the sky instead of tiny bombs this allow the attackers to cut the defenders refoirciments and i ncase of defenders for disuassion of posible flanks or massive attacks
Yes but that only goes so far. I’d say most players aren’t going to be ever watchful eyes in the sky. Having strategic information is important
The recon plane would spot tanks, rallies, and enemy buildings. Having the foresight of where the enemy is coming from is good. Recon planes would be better
At the start of the Normandy campaign, 20% of American 81 mm mortar ammunition consisted of M57 point-detonating bursting smoke rounds using WP filler. At least five American Medal of Honor citations mention their recipients using M15 white phosphorus hand grenades to clear enemy positions, and in the 1944 liberation of Cherbourg alone, a single US mortar battalion, the 87th, fired 11,899 white phosphorus rounds into the city. The US Army and Marines used M2 and M328 WP shells in 107 millimetres (4.2 in) mortars. White phosphorus was widely used by Allied soldiers for breaking up German attacks and creating havoc among enemy troop concentrations during the latter part of the war.
Business was booming
The Americans were notorious for using WP shells, which had the dual effect of being incendiary and providing smoke screens. Sadly, we have yet to see it because the devs believe that the Americans don’t get to have a medium-infantry mortar. They want to pretend that the M2 60mm mortar is a fair balance against an 81mm mortar despite its smaller explosive radius, shorter range, and virtually no pin when going up against Panthers and Tigers. It should be in BR III with its smaller cousin (but more extended range), the RM-40.
Wow I like how so many people are just buttholes and can’t see how some of this would be fun. Not to mention any names but basically the post right after was finding anyway to sh*t on your suggestions. Of course EVERYTHING has to be taken so seriously. I mean it is just a video game, no fun ideas can be given…
It was, kinda, it was done by making the timed shells detonate before they hit the ground, it takes some math but if you did this in say, a forest, you would begin to level the forest from top to down and you would send splinters and shrapnel everywhere. How often it was done is my question.
wow i wonder who could you be talking about… hey this is forum and if there is shitty idea i will speak against it(if i manage to see it). suggested mechanism are neither fun, nor historical, so they should not be in the game.
