Nerfing Weapons in this Game

I wish people who play this game would stop losing their minds every time they die and want to nerf the weapon that killed them: “Oh, somebody killed me with an impact grenade; it needs to be nerfed. OMG, I ran over an enemy AP mine. I shouldn’t have died. Let’s nerf it.”

It’s this attitude that has nerfed these weapons—and others—into oblivion. Currently, impact grenades & AP mines are practically useless. This is a World War II shooter game. The weapons should kill you—period. So please, stop asking for nerfs because you had one bad experience in a game.

Here’s an idea: Instead of nerfing weapons, why don’t you employ the same weapons yourself and use them to kill the enemy? Hmmm, that might actually work.

As for tanks, tanks are extremely weak in this game—yet, people continually ask to have them nerfed. I don’t get it! And, only two can be on the field at any given time. How is this OP?

Bottom line, it’s a shooter game. You’re going to die.

Actually ppl did exactly this and we ended up with while phosphorus spam or impact+rifle grenade spam.

Some nerfs are overreaction, some are justified. But imo the ones to blame are not those who complain but those who abuse game mechanics to become pain in the ass for everybody else.

Yes, I partially agree with what you’ve said; however, the problem isn’t the weapon; mostly, it’s the players: A lot of people get killed, and then spawn back in and run straight into the enemy only to die again. Then, they blame it on the weapon and ask for a nerf. A better solution would be to flank the enemy and attack from a different direction—which a large majority of the player population seems completely unaware of.

Another option would be to spawn in a tank or a plane to clear an area that is difficult to clear with infantry alone. Again, employ a different tactic instead of asking for a nerf. But, that would require people to use their brain.

Let me ask you this: How many games have you been in where you lost because nobody would get on the point to cap? It seems quite simple: The entire game is based on getting in the circle and capping a point. Yet, a very large part of the population in this game seem to think that this is a “Team Deathmatch” game and spend the entire game ONLY shooting the enemy—and doing absolutely nothing else. What needs to be nerfed here are the players, not the weapons.

I have a solution for this: Instead of nerfing weapons for all players, how about we only nerf the weapons for players who don’t cap points. For example, if you don’t cap at least one point every 5 or 10 games, the game starts nerfing your weapons so you can’t keep playing “Team Deathmatch” to the detriment of the rest of the team. Now there’s a nerf I can stand behind!

Not really.

Bad game design is to be blamed, not players. Does anyone really expect that guerrillas can result in anything other than toxic playstyle?

And they are not even OP (in fact they’re pretty shtt if played inside of normal battlezone), they are simply broken.

If we had smart map design, greyzone tank would pretty shit as well.

If had bigger objective, so called tank spam wouldn’t be problem.
As you wouldn’t be able to clear out whole objective with just one HE.

It’s only natural that most players will play whatever is most effective in a PvP game.
I certainly wouldn’t call it spamming or abusing.
It’s just the meta of the game. Reflection of bad game design.

Personally, if DF just made all the game weapons to fire at the real weapons capabilities, then no one could complain about a nerfed gun.

I think to many bad map designs also kills the competitiveness of the game as to many only offer frontal attacks, which it only takes semi skilled defenders to defend. If both sides are even then you have literally no chance to take the objective. This is a screenshot from a game I played the other night, one of the new maps. We got one bomb, but couldn’t hardly get a sniff of the second.

Why not limit the number of grenade launchers and WP grenades per squad?

Impact grenades and AP mines were absolutely disgusting and over powered.

You complaining that those got nerfed shows me what kind of a player you are.

Fair. If game is designed well, it shouldn’t have abusable elements in the first place.

Because limits are gay.

I’m the type of player who expects my weapons to work properly: If I hit you in the face with an impact grenade, I expect you to die.

If you run over an AP mine, again—you should die! I literally watched an enemy player run over one of my AP mines and just kept running as if nothing had happened at all. Completely ridiculous! We only get 1x mine per avatar. If they don’t work, what’s the point?

Agreed!

The left and right flanks of most maps in this game should be wider—in other words, less gray zone so we can flank properly. Furthermore, the gray zone should also be reduced behind the enemy so we can attack from behind, as it would be in a real battle.

These “frontal attacks” are boring and annoying. The maps—in their current state—leave no room to employ proper tactics!

Devs clearly said they don’t want to limit anything.
But imo they need to change this approach as at some point they will hit a wall and something will be too weak on its own and too strong in numbers. We will see.

The solution is quite simple. Just introduce new mine specialists class.

This class will be able to go beyond friendly greyzone to pre mine future objectives (since this class is going to be able to see future objectives).
And it is going to have 10 mines per soldier (To ensure that such a player will be out of the battle zone for more or less the whole game.)

Problem solved (according to DF)

Absolutely! However, I believe you’re being a bit conservative: Only 10 mines? Obviously, unlimited mines should be available to such an elite “premium” squad, and all for the low low price of $49.95.

On the map that I showed, we did try setting up spawn points in the trees off to the right, however they had to cross the open rail road tracks and with level 5 weapons were easy targets. Off to the left is an open field so no chance of doing anything with that. I got into my bomber and scored quite a few kills, only problem was I got one pass and one only as I was an easy target for enemy fighter planes. Hell, once I got shot down before I got a single pass.

And up to nine per squad.

If they all survive… Even if they do, what good are nine useless mines that don’t work properly—unless you stack em’.

nonsense, by your own logic, AP mines would need 20 seconds to set up and would trigger if you or your teammate trip over its wire.

If you want realism, you dont get to choose which part of it.
