My thoughts on the merge, after 1500 games played

Great idea for a change tbh and all for it to be implemented. Engineers are a must-have in any match and having to grind for them at first is a big letdown, especially if you play the unfavoured faction at the time. We could exchange the sniper squad for engi, so that there is less newbies sniping and more actually playing the game.

Put this idea into suggestion, I think most would be in favour of moving Engi I lower on tech tree to allow more impact even for newbies. Also devs might not notice it here in Mess room, so putting into suggestions is a better way of letting them see this.

I mean, those capable should at least try to have a thoughtful discussion about the topic, before moving to measure each other’s d****. Especially in this case, where skill/capabilities is not even part of it, just the pure idea of starter Engi I squad, instead of having to grind for it.

Btw has anyone looked into getting a better Tutorial for Newbs? Covering spec. classes like Engi and showing their benefits in real-time scenario whilst also yielding a reward at the end could be a nice introduction into a team-based game, instead of Run-Shoot-Cap.

The Panzer IV G should’ve definitely be folded with the Panzer IV F2. Its simply just a waste of time, grinding basically the same tank again. And a waste of Silver.
I’d also like for Italy to be separated from Germany, like sub trees in war thunder. Saves way more time, and you will have to research less useless weaponry.

Regarding being able to research deeper in the tree (“Tiers should be the only prerequisite.”) - I like that as well, though I fear the Devs won’t since it will “shorten the game” as people skip lower tier equipment. It also removes a bit of immersion as soldiers had to actually suffer with inferior equipment as well.

Plus, it makes the Devs more money in that that silver has to come from somewhere, and they obviously seem hesitant to make silver readily available. (Having to drop 13k in silver twice last night on tanks I’m not using is not fun, but it makes the Devs smile.)

I like your recommendations to move Engineer I to one of the first squads to research.

I think it gives the squad a bit more significance and importance that giving it as a default squad may not imply to a new player. Yet, it doesn’t make it take that long to earn and start using.
