So, 1500 games since the merge, playing everything as evenly as possible. Honest opinion of the merge update is that the merge was a good thing, the tech tree needs some tweaks though. Note: I’m purposely splitting the merge from the BR system as the BR system has its own issues and has plenty of threads.
Better Folder Optimization in the Tech Tree (Reduce path to high tier, but not path to max out). Things that are like, should be in a folder together: (ie PPS 42 and 43, MP 38 and 40, etc)
Tiers should be the only prerequisite. If I complete 9/9 Tier 1, I should be able to start ANY Tier 2 (Again, reduce path to high tier … people want to play this, I hear constantly from new players I play with that they just want to get to SMGs due to everyone else having them).
Assaulter I squad needs to return in Tier 1. I’m sorry, Medics are just bad Assaulters, and having Medic and Assaulter is not a bad thing for the tech tree. In fact, having 2 SMG squads I would imagine would help with people not playing the objective.
Engineer I squad needs to move (Japan Especially). Considering how important Engineers are, they need to be unlocked as soon as possible, if not moved to the default squads.
My recommendation regarding the tech tree placement of the Engineer I squad:
By moving the Rifleman I squad to Row 2, Slot 1, you make the Rifleman I, II, and III all be in that line (Cleans it up a bit).
By moving the Engineer I to Row 1, Slot 2, you reduce the XP requirement to get this extremely important class by 13,000 XP (28,000 XP for Japan).
While not a large change, the reduction in requirements reduces the number of games needed for a new player to obtain them.
Soviets:
Move the default riflemen squad to Tier I Row 2, Slot 1
Absolutely not. See, Battle Ratings are a necessary evil for War Thunder so a Pz II doesn’t get bodied by an Abrams
In Enlisted, any gun can kill any person regardless of any and all circumstances. A .50 BMG out of an M2 and 9mm out of a pistol are both full capable of killing a man
So the system’s just kinda stupid. That and I don’t enjoy War Thunder, and the more and more Enlisted becomes WT the less and less I’ll enjoy my favorite FPS game
While this is going somewhat off of what I wanted for the thread ( mainly wanted to focus on the merge and not the BR), I do agree. The only caveats though are improved NPM (New Player Matchmaking) as the current 1 - 3 games is insufficient to both teach and obtain at least somewhat decent lineups, and secondly AT Guns need to improve. IMO without the low and high restriction, the AT Gunner Squad should just get the bigger AT Gun (Note I would also like to see AT Guns just have APHE where possible, instead of AP and HE) that can deal with the heavier tanks. I see the main issue holding the BR as is, is the vehicles and not the infantry weapons generally. If there is sufficient answer to them at low tier (ie early on in the unlock path) then it becomes unneeded.
I too want Enlisted to be Enlisted (as in infantry with vehicle support) and not this War Thunder with infantry that tends to happen due to all the comparison and cross game players.
Totally OT - but that’s not an issue if you can get 100 Pz 2’s for every Abrams in the game - there are many different ways of achieving “balance” in wargames other than something resembling the BR system
I don’t think you know what APHE means. It is just a AP shell with explosive filler, it can’t really replace HE round due to its small amount of explosive filler.
Infantry weapon is also an issue, how would you expect new player with bolt action and SMG to fight against SF rifle and assault rifle?
The only answer I can think of is tank destroyer. The problem is it is bad to counter infantry so many players prefer to use tank.
that’s the point though … I want it to be Anti Tank … not hey throw he shells into the objective. Less explosion spam is good In my book.
here is the thing, pre-merge we had this … it wasn’t actually bad. The issue really is full auto rifles vs new players … hence why I want improved NPM. I’ve taken starter bolts to high br fights plenty of times and done just fine. heck, I’ve done pistol only before in High BR and did fine. . . main issue with pistols ends up being ammo.
If the At Gunner squad could build a proper high caliber AT gun that could deal with the high end tanks of its opponents, then that works imo. Tank destroyers can be used too, but I’m thinking for something in the Tier I.
It was literally bad. Those guy with worse weapon easily get stomped.
Doubt, I had yet to seen any bolt action or pistol using player that performs good on high br.
Are you sure you are not on the stomping side so you are just encountering bad players?
Then the vehicle balance is still not solved, you are just introducing better at gun, low tier vehicle is still bad. What is the point of bringing low tier vehicle?
110% agree, not that the merge was good, but it was necessary and I’m glad the game is still kicking.
I’d prefer if the proper squads and equipment was on the right maps. But yes
again, we are getting off the topic as this topic is about the merge, not the BR system … but if you want to talk about the BR system, see one of the many topics about it. I have posted about my wants on many of them in the past about using different ticket costs and such, but this is for another topic. I will not reply to any more BR talk in this thread. Either open a new topic or send me a dm.
I want to avoid going back and forth off topic of the OP and get back to the talk regarding the tech tree merge itself as I see these as separate.
Git gud
Pistol only is fun and you can easily get 1st on your team
